I had my layout all ready to glue down, started taping, and the journaling card I was going to use is gone. I didn't leave the room, open any containers, and it's not on the floor. I didn't even stand up between when I had it on the layout and when I went to tape it down. It's kind of ticking me off because it's older and I was finally going to use it and now I have to find something else...
Does paper have magical flying properties? I don't blink and my garden has disappeared, don't lose knitting stuff (unless I sit in the wrong chair and drop a needle), and I don't lose pages of books I'm reading, why do I spend half my scrapbook time looking for things I just had in my hands?
I think I am kind of grumpy today...

Did it stick to the back of a pic? Or a large piece of background paper? (right before you stuck them down)

I’ve had that happen. Multiple times, and at least once recently. Apparently I had it in my hand, moved elsewhere in the room, and put it down without thinking for some reason. I eventually found it, but it’s really aggravating when it happens. I’m a care giver. I don’t have that much time to play in my craft room, so I’m not about to do it over. I just hunt till I find it, and it’s usually in some odd place. Once I find it, I usually remember how it ended up there.
I hope you find it quickly.

I finished the layout with journaling strips instead of the card, searched everywhere, gave up, and then happened to glance into my cardstock scrap bin which is under the table that is next to my desk, and recognized the pattern on the back as the back of my journaling card.
Since the card didn't get used, I'm going to have to buy popsicles or ice cream cones and take pictures of someone eating them so I can get the card out of my stash.

Check your clothes. Did it somehow adhere to the back of your pants or something? I'm speaking from experience.

Yes! OMG it happens to me every.stinkin.time. It’s so frustrating! We’re about to renovate our house, and there’s no telling what I’m going to find in hidden places.🤦🏻♀️

Sometimes my sock will pick it up. Since it is summer, it is less likely that would happen, but I have found things on my person a lot. I also have an oriental rug on my floor and I can lose a lot on that pattern.

I've "lost" a paintbrush or pen I was just using. Eventually I start to use a different one and then the "lost" one comes out of hiding.

All the time; paper is particularly prone to slipping between two other objects, being lofted off a desk by a stray breeze or gust of air from something else, or just sliiiiding itself off onto the floor/bin!
Glad you found your card; whenever I lose something I take that as a sign it's time to tidy up. Doesn't always work though, sometimes scraps end up in the darnedest places you'd never think to look.

I don't think it's scrapbook specific: I swear I have a mischievous house elf who hides things (but then brings them back). It happens all over my house... I usually just move on to another step or even a new layout, and when the elf returns my missing item I carry on as intended

My most recent one was a missing die cut letter. I found it on the floor of my laundry room, after I cut a new one. I always stand up and check my clothes, but it hid from me!
I found a missing pair of scissor in my grandson's car. I just bought another 3 pack at Costco.

Happens to me all the time too! I'm currently missing two rub-on letters that I needed on a layout. I finally gave up and pieced some other letters together to finish the title, but I know that stupid U and T are going to show up somewhere weird!

I posted a super long vent in another thread about this exact thing! Hahaha I lost the journal card that was perfect for what I needed that I'd held on to- forever!! Years and years!!
Two or three years later it was found in the bathroom linen cabinet stuck to the bottom of the box for the dog nail sander (I think.. it could have been paw fur trimmers... forgot now) which were new when I made the card.
Anyway... I hope you find it sooner than I did, with much less aggravation!

I really hate it when I give up on the search for the lost item, find a replacement, finish the layout, and then find the thing I lost.

My pup lays under my desk, so it the item is sticky, it’ll usually end up on his butt/tail.

National Cherry Popsicle Day is Aug 26th. So specific! You’ve just missed National Creamsicle Day and National Ice Cream Day for this year. Hopefully you don’t need an excuse to buy a sweet treat so you can use that bothersome card though. We like Helados Mexican ice cream sandwiches (churro!) and their mini popsicles.

It also happens to me when I bead/make jewelry. If I drop a bead, I might never find it again. I swear there's a black hole somewhere in my dining room, LOL!

Happens all the time with my sb-ing supplies. I lose things under stacks of other supplies or mixed in with other embellishments that I have on my work surface. I just need to be more tidy. I used to cross-stitch and don't remember ever losing any of my supplies. Of course there were so much fewer of them. And more self-contained. I think we can all identify and sympathize with you @breetheflea.
