Good morning. This am dh, ods and I are going to grab a quick coffee. Then dh and I are going to the specialty grocery store. After that I have a video conference. Then it's time to do some tidying and have some fun w/my newest game. I don't have a dinner plan just yet. Let's see what dh finds at the store. What's on your menu? I'm thinking discharge thoughts for sueg. Are you home, Sue? **GypsyGirl**, how are things going in your universe? Tearisci, how are your parents. ((((HUGS)))). The Birdhouse Lady, how do you feel today? What's happening? What's everyone up to today? Wishing everyone a calm, healing for those who need it and happy day to all!

Enjoy your game scrapmaven! What are you playing? I think we like similar games. Today, I'm just hoping for a quiet day with no parent drama. My mom came home last night and my dad has an appointment with the cardiologist tomorrow so we're hoping she can look at his low heart rate and see what's going on. I'm pretty exhausted from worry and I know they're pretty worn out too. They're 88 and 92 so they are at the age when something small can be a big issue. Luckily, I've got lots of family around to help. Dinner will be chicken something- maybe piccata- tonight. Hope you all have a great day!

I’m home!!!
After a lovely thunderstorm hit us about 7pm yesterday, I actually had a fairly decent sleep, just waking up around 2am for the bathroom. Doctor came around about 7am and said everything was good for me to go. After breakfast, the nurses sorted out all the paperwork - implant pass, as I now have 3 small titanium screws in my head, anaesthesia passport, as I have a narrow throat and my scans so any other doctor can see them. I have the neurology emergency number for the hospital, along with instructions to report back in 3 months with a fresh MRI. DH arrived around 10:45 - he did the grocery shopping before coming over so he didn’t have to leave me alone - and off I went! I need to go back Friday to have the stitches out, but that will be a short visit - driving there will take more time than the actual procedure.
For lunch, DH prepared a lovely ‘brotzeit teller’ - that’s German for a charcuterie board - and for dinner he is making my favourite pasta dish - pasta alla nonna - which has a sauce of tomatoes and auberginess.

sueg . That’s great. I bet you’re glad to be home. Tearisci . My mom is 87 and I hear what you’re saying. Although she’s pretty, but it is a constant worry that’s for sure. scrapmaven Hope you have a great day Not sure what’s for dinner I bought some chicken breast marinated in jerk seasoning yesterday so it might be that with some corn or yellow squash. I’m still on a hunt for new living room/great room furniture. I found something that I really like, but I’m just afraid it’s too big. my oldest great nephew who is 6 1/2, and also on the autism spectrum, started first grade on Monday. He’s in a small class with a teacher and an aide with kids like him (a special ed class.) but he will start in mainstream out into the areas that he excels in. I am just so proud of all of the help he has gotten and the length to which my niece and her husband will go to make sure he gets what he needs. He’s one amazing little boy.

Glad you're home sueg ! I have my monthly Newcomer's Luncheon today. It's about 35 minutes away but I'm carpooling with another gal. It's right by the hearing center I went to last week. I'm having the salmon. Which we had for dinner last night. Good thing I love salmon! Dinner tonight might be Teriyaki Chicken.

Welcome home, sueg. I’m sure you’re glad to be there. Dinner tonight will be at Trader Vic’s with just my siblings, no spouses (although only one of us has a spouse at the moment, anyway). They took me for my birthday last year, and now apparently it is a “tradition.” We will also be there on Sunday night for cocktails/appetizers for my birthday, which is on Monday. Everyone gets to attend that one. Did I happen to mention Trader Vic’s is a longtime family favorite? It’s like we don’t know there are any other nice restaurants. After next week I’ll be back to fast food and Mexican. Tomorrow I leave for a four-day crop so I may or may not drop in in the meantime.

Thanks everyone for the anniversary wishes. DH and I enjoyed the day.
Today is a quiet day here. DH is waiting until the sun is in the backyard so he can water proof the front deck.
Supper will be some sort of chicken thing. Breasts are thawing in the fridge. Not sure what I’ll do with them.

Hi friends! Seems like it's been a good moment since I've been on. We went up to PA on Saturday to visit my FIL and my parents since we didn't see my folks last time we went up. This week's dinner has been roast, mac and cheese, and whatever frozen veggie DH decides he wants. Really not too much to report on here... DH noticed that I broke a blood vessel in my eye on Sunday morning. I sent a message to my primary care physician that night, and also called the eye doctor on Monday morning. Primary care said as long as I don't have any other symptoms associated with it, it'll clear on its own. Eye doctor never called back. I have no idea how I broke the vessel. Maybe just rubbing my eyes too hard. I also put my current cross-stitch project on hold because I created a pattern online for a different one for DH (well, house decor, but it's image from the Universal Monsters Pluto TV channel that DH really likes). There is a TON of black thread in the pattern, so I'm looking forward to the various shades of blues and oranges in it. (This is what the image looks like: images.pluto.tv/channels/65a9b20f0c7ff50008d3a3b6/thumbnail.jpg)Sending all of you (and your families!) healing wishes and hugs.

Happy to hear you are home sueg! austnscrapaddict holler at me if you ever get back to Lafayette! It's Wednesday so that means it is my day off. I took a 2 mile walk this am. It is supposed to heat up today then storm the next couple of days. I've got laundry going and cleaned the kitchen. All kinds of exciting things today. Dinner is going to be BLT sandwiches.

I am back from the MRI. She said the results should be in my portal in a couple of hours. Keep your fingers crossed that it isn't something bad. Also, my primary called in some kind of high falutin anti-inflammatory meds that I need to pick up. sueg Yay!! So glad you are home. There really is no place like it! Today is the first day of sun we have had in a long time. It really has lifted my spirits. Dinner tonight is unknown. I am out of most everything since I have been home for so many days. I think I am going to an online order, I haven't done that since Covid. lucy I hope you have the best time with your sibs tonight!! Sounds like a fun evening!

Happy mid Week dinner friends!! sueg I'm so glad to hear you are home!!!! Relax and allow DH to pamper you! stormsts I will definitely reach out when I'm in that part of Indiana. We keep looking at real estate listings in the southern part of the state to spend part of the year there when we retire, but nothing has moved us to make an offer yet. but I get there a couple of times a year, My uncle passed away a couple of weeks ago, there will be a family memorial service this fall, that will be my next trip that way. I've been on conference calls all morning and finally have a few minutes to breathe. DH is coming home from the ranch today, so dinner will need to be a little more structured than the last few days, I am happy to report that I finally made that grocery run yesterday evening. Pork tenderloins were on sale for $1.27lb so I picked up 4. DH likes to make "burnt ends" out of them so they will go into the freezer, I think I'll cut one in half and stuff it for dinner this evening. Wishing everyone a wonderful day!

sueg , you being home is the best news I could hear all week. I hope that you feel better and better each day. You will hopefully sleep very well in your own bed. Tearisci , I'll think good thoughts for your parents. ((((HUGS)))). The Birdhouse Lady , I hope that the MRI doesn't show anything surgical. Let us know what it says and take, good, loving care of yourself.
lucyg , enjoy your family dinner at Trader Vic's. Everyone, dinner is on Lucy. What time does the entire tribe need to be there?
cadoodlebug , when will your hearing aids be ready for you? This has been a very peculiar day and it's not even lunchtime. I think I'm gonna call for a do-over. I have a tire that needs to be replaced on a newish car, so coffee was cancelled and then I dropped a bowling pin on my big toe and I don't bowl. It was from a birthday party when the boys were little. I was looking for something in a closet.

stormsts What Lafayette are you in/near? Indiana Awe man! DH had a job interview in Indiana in January. He didn't get the job, sadly. (And now he's shy to apply to others, but he told me he'd apply to one a week this month. He needs to do two this week since he didn't last. We'll see what happens. Fortunately, he's employed and looking, but I know there are some factors in his current job that are making him consider looking again.)

So far I have made it to the dentist today ... that is all I have accomplished. I need many thousands of dollars worth of work done soon ... yay. Now I am sitting here very bored ... I could change the sheets and duvet cover on my bed but I don't have the energy. I'll see if my girlfriend wants to come over for dinner ... I have a shrimp and pasta dish in the freezer I can whip up ... So glad you are home sueg! I hope your MRI doesn't show anything too scary The Birdhouse Lady!

leannec , Youch. I'm sorry to hear that you need so much dental work. Do you have dental insurance in Canada? Is it worthwhile? I have dental coverage through my employer ... even as a retiree ... it is good for x-rays and cleanings and such but for expensive things like I need (crowns) the coverage is minimal ... most will be paid by me.

Dang leannec that really stinks. Do they have a treatment plan in place to get it done in stages? My MRI report came in my patient portal. I am waiting for my doctor call me with his recommendations. I just picked up the rx he prescribed. It's for steroids and I expressly told him that I didn't want to take steroids. I did that twice before my fusion surgery. Sure, it worked while I was taking it, but it was short lived, and I have never been so hungry in my life! Anywho, what I can tell is that the vertebra above my fusion has a disc bulge, and moderate to severe spinal canal stenosis. That would explain the pain.

Did I happen to mention Trader Vic’s is a longtime family favorite? It’s like we don’t know there are any other nice restaurants. You made me curious if there is a Trader Vic's near here us and I think your local one is probably the closest. I swear there used to be one in Vancouver BC, but it's not on the list of locations. I'm seriously blown away that about half the locations are in the Middle East and Asia? Enjoy your sibling dinner! going to make time for my puzzle. Me, too. I saw something new today. Two couples set up at a picnic table with their morning coffee and a big puzzle. It was a table area near the parking lot, not down on the beach so I got the feeling they were locals more than tourists. I can only imagine DH's reaction if I suggested taking a puzzle to the beach. I dropped a bowling pin on my big toe and I don't bowl. I couldn't help but think of jeremysgirl 's coworker as I read this. I'm sure a bowling pin injury would have her off work for days. I really hope you aren't too bruised. My cousin from Calgary needed extensive dental work done and she went to Mexico to get it done. She was very happy. I can get you the name if you are interested. We know a ton of Canadians that get dental work done in Mexico while on vacation in the Phoenix area. Everyone is thrilled with the results. Hope you get a treatment plan for your back, The Birdhouse Lady . Happy to see your are resting comfortably at home, sueg . Definitely make sure the furniture fits before buying, christine58 . I'd tape out the dimensions with painter's tape where you plan to put it so you aren't just eyeballing the space. DH got back late last night/technically early this morning around 3 am. He drives me nuts with the flight options he picks when traveling on his own and has basically slept the day away. I feel a little better after my whine yesterday. I did pop into Talbot's after lunch. This store has a decent selection of petite sizes and I was happy to find a pair of crop jeans that I liked and figured out sizing for a couple other things I ordered online, so fingers crossed I have a few things to wear. Dinner tonight will be a veggie loaded (zucchini, tomatoes, fennel, spinach) antipasto pasta salad and Italian sausages.
