Is that still 'a thing?" I recall it being very popular and then fading out of my consciousness.

There are still regional and national leagues. I don’t know if they still have pro teams. I remember watching the pro teams on TV as a kid. They were fun to watch.

I know a friend of mine who's daughter used to play.. it's been a few years though (babies)... so not sure if it is a thing or not. This is about 10 years ago.

It’s been many, many years since I have seen any or even thought about it. It was fun to watch.

One of my dd played for Dallas Derby Devils ! It was one of her goals and she did it. This was about 20 years ago. She did it for about one year. It took up a lot of her time. But she (we) were proud of her for doing what she always wanted to do.
I’m forever telling people that I have 2 dds. One is a first grade teacher and the other one was in the Roller Derby !

My city, Colorado Springs has a league. Pikes Peak Roller Derby. Pikes Peak Roller DerbyThey use to skate at our City Auditorium, but they built or repourposed an existing building for an inline hockey rink, and they now skate there. They can get a bit wild, but don't think they are quite as wild as they were back in the day.

It's still out there. Youngest kid brought home a "Santa Cruz Roller Derby" shirt on her last trip home (she just graduated from UCSC and is still living in Santa Cruz until the end of the month). Think she was considering trying out for the team, but don't think she ever joined (or maybe didn't make it?). We don't have great insurance so I'm kind of glad she never really did it.

My next door neighbours are heavily involved in Roller Derby. Their 15 year-old daughter is on a team that competes allover the Mountain West. They are also into Crusades role playing and go all over to things that are sort of like Renascence Fair only earlier in history with armor and swords.

I remember the roller derby! Specifically the Los Angeles Thunderbirds. We watched it when I was growing up and even went to a game one time.

There are still regional and national leagues. I don’t know if they still have pro teams. I remember watching the pro teams on TV as a kid. They were fun to watch. We used to watch the woman’s roller derby when I was a kid too. My mom didn’t appreciate us watching because it looked too violent but I told her it was all most likely scripted and no one was really in danger.

I remember the roller derby! Specifically the Los Angeles Thunderbirds. Yes, that is the team name I couldn't remember. Used to watch them all the time when I was a kid. We used to watch the woman’s roller derby when I was a kid too. My mom didn’t appreciate us watching because it looked too violent but I told her it was all most likely scripted and no one was really in danger. Someone, either my parents or a friend, told me it was all fake, or at least the fighting portions were all fake.
