And I tossed all my washing tape. Most are 6+ years old and all but a few are either no longer sticky, rip when trying to peel, or the images flake off and are very dry.
I haven't reached for washing tape since last year. I told myself if I didn't use any within a year, I would toss them.
I'm not donating due to their condition.
I did keep one - sparkly red that is new. I got it at the $1 spot last December. I have it in a drawer and will place it out in November. If I don't use it, I will give it to dd.
It was rather freeing. And created a nice space as I had a craft system similar to a spice rack that houses them all. Now I have that space for something else.

Are you talking about washi tape?
I still have a few rolls, but gave most of them to my daughter to use for a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate program) event. I kept a few for DGD to play with when she comes over.
I find they are good to clean up dog hair off my table. LOL.

I have not gotten brave enough to do that yet!!
However, most of mine is still sticky and in working order, so I have given myself permission to use it to hold things down, die cutting, etc.
I have no clue what I was thinking getting all of It. Never use it properly.

I went through and got rid of about 40 (yikes ) rolls that were in the same condition. If they don't roll off easy, if they're not sticky, they got trashed. I still have one washi tape container (the washi storage drawer) that holds what I kept and it's still full to overflowing. I'm trying to use mine more and force myself to use at least 3 different ones on my PL layouts and at least 2 on traditional layouts.

Haven’t done anything with washi tape yet. The rolls are all in aplastic bin, and if I grab ne that is no longer usable, I chuck that one roll.
I HAVE been eyeing my bin of Dylusions paint jars, thinking I should check to see if any are still usable and chuck the rest, liberating THAT bin.

Silly autocorrect doesn't know Japanese Glad you were able to take back that space. It's hard to get rid of a whole category of things. I have some good quality washi tape (mostly Japanese) that has held up really well over the years, but I got rid of (almost) all the ones that aren't sticky or that tear. I use what I have for a couple of specific purposes, but I don't need much variety now that I don't use it in planners or journals. I could probably toss a few more almost used-up 10+yo rolls, now that I come to think of it.

I did a clean out earlier this year and got rid of a few rolls but I could certainly do with cleaning out more. I still have great hopes of using them even though I realistically never do. I like the idea of adding washi to every PL page or layout, I should try that.

I don’t really use it on cards anymore but I like using it to hold paper down or hold a die in place to run though my big shot.

I have only had one roll of washi that "went bad." Usually after unrolling a few feet, it's only the outermost layers that are crap. Maybe I'm just lucky.

I tossed about 3 rolls that were a sticky mess last month, and I put a few in the giveaway box. I don't buy it anymore because I don't use it much. I did buy the set that's part of a 49 and Market collection that I have, and I'm storing it with the collection so that I remember to use it.

I still use it all the time (it’s one of my faves), but have definitely had to throw multiple rolls out that went bad. It was really aggravating. Along with all the rusty flair from October afternoon and American Crafts. I really loved some of those…what a waste.

I just throw out rolls as I discover they don't work (don't peel off and stick properly). I mostly use mine for things other than scrapbooking, like sealing envelopes and marking my water bottle and as others have mentioned- holding dies in place to cut.

I try not to buy Washi tape anymore, since I've had a bunch go bad and lose their stick, or become too sticky and couldn't get it off the roll anymore. I just wasn't using them enough.
I get Heidi Swapp's monthly kit, though, and there's always a roll of Washi in there, so I guess I'm still collecting a bit!
I do try to use the kit Washi in my memory planner, but I also use it around the house - to temporarily tape up something in my scraproom, like the schedule for Crop & Create, that kind of thing.

I haven’t bought any in years, and I still have a lot. I did donate a bunch. I’ve noticed my MT brand tapes (the original washi tape brand) are still good. The ones from scrapbooking companies, not so much. I’ve been using mine to tape down paper, especially for white borders when painting. I’ll never use up all I have, and I probably need to donate more.

Good for you! My sons girlfriend look my Washi to play with and I haven't gotten it back. I've realized I only use it to help with holding down papers on my silhouette mats so I am not in a big hurry to get it back.

I only have a handful of rolls and I primarily use it for sealing envelopes and occasionally for holding dies when cutting stamped images
But yes - i've had to toss a couple also

I do need to get rid of some of my washi that is in bad shape. I HAVE been using it to stick down metal dies a lot. On pages, not so much.

Congratulations pantsonfire for creating some space in your work area. I don't have much washi tape, maybe 15-20 rolls. I know what you mean about some of them being a real pain to peel off. When I go through mine next time, I'm going to follow your example and throw out the ones that are so frustrating. I also have a roll of masking tape that is the same aggravation and if it hadn't cost so much it would've been thrown out long ago.

Love that strategy and good for clearing space!
I like washi tape and use it in my HP a lot. The better brands like MT or ones I buy from Japanese stationery shops def holds up better than some of the scrap brands.
If I use it on a layout, I usually add another adhesive to it.
I use it for things unrelated to crafts... to mark wires/charging cords, in manual diecut machine, around travel bottles/caps to hold them closed, temporarily stick notes on a layout or in my HP...

Good for you if you no longer use it. Personally, I use mine a lot. I frame the address on packages that I mail or frame card envelopes (make sure it’s sticky enough!) I code electronics and cords, using a bit of washi by the port and another strip on the cord. I’ve used it to code pill containers when we travel, toiletries, and tooth brush holders. For crafting, I use it to frame watercolor paper, to hold down dies, and to temporarily hold down elements on a page. I’ve used it to frame graduation yard signs, posters for school, and other projects.
It’s too pretty to get rid of!
