I noticed that a cleaning thread hasn't been started yet so thought I would. Anyone cleaning, decluttering or purging this week? With children out of school it's sometimes hard to get any projects done.
Dd has been sick so I haven't really been out of the house much except to pick up food and medicine. Plus, my washing machine decided to crap out and fixing it just isn't in the budget right now. Dh takes some things to his sister's house for washing. I've been washing quite a bit by hand like the way some of our great-grandparents did. My hands are getting a good workout. Thankfully the dryer works so I don't have to hang anything outside.

I should be cleaning and purging but I am here instead. I need to get out and get some exercise and get DS to exercise as well - he just wants to play video games and that just isnt' going to be what he gets to do all summer. I want to go do something fun but his idea of something fun and mine are not even close.

I'm starting to work on it. Today was the last day of school for my daughters and my son is away at school for the summer. I have a LOT of reorganizing to do. Today I started with some paperwork and am hoping to get some furniture moved around. My dishwasher that hasn't worked for months decided to work again today all on its own, so I have it running through a cycle to clean it out before I use it for dishes again.
I want to go out to celebrate that school is out and a local sculpture museum has its free admission day, so I'm probably not getting much more than that done today!

yes i am, my little kids are gone for the summer so my adult kids and i have been doing a lot of work here. we inherited this house from my late MIL and have been living here in limbo waiting to see if the estate was going to be sold or if we could stay... finally decided to just settle in and do some projects. took out a wall yesterday to make the kitchen bigger and i'm majorly cleaning and decluttering living and dining rooms so that we can swap them to line up better with the new layout.

I'm going to clean and purge my bedroom closet today. I bought $80 worth of cute storage bins from Marshalls... So I know I'll be successful. Because buying more crap when you're trying to purge is always a winning strategy...
After I watch World Cup Soccer, of course....

I just boxed up some old games and puzzles for Goodwill. We also have a tv, DVD player, and stereo and speakers sitting in the middle of the family room---a local thrift store is going to be picking those up. I may give them an old rocking chair, too, if they have room in the truck.

Cleaning and organizing! The kids have been away at camp so it's the perfect opportunity to clear out some junk without getting "caught!"
I have been donating, cleaning, selling, and tossing! I love it!

I'm getting up to go sort through piles in the living room. You know, as soon as I'm done catching up on all the new pea news. And on a side note, do we not have smilies here, or is it just not showing up because I'm on a mobile version?

I think you receive an automatic reprieve from purging when you yourself have just been purged.

My goal this week is the closets. There was a thread yesterday about what we are putting off, and since I answered that my closets are bugging me even more! So, closets are on the agenda!

I'm going to purge and clean my pantry and refrigerator/freezer! If I have the motivation - my daughter's room is next!

I so need to do this! I've had to work long hours the past year and the house has been suffering - now with kids home from school, it's a total mess. Everyone is off to camp tomorrow, so I plan to get as much out of the house as possible. I'm really worried about the amount of purging we have to do this summer - The rooms we use daily are purged regularly, but the attic and garage and porch- that's another story! We're planning an addition to start late summer. The builder wrote into the contract that start date depends on us completely emptying the attic, garage, and 2 kid bedrooms. Ugh. I'm about ready to pass out just thinking about it! Who wants to go into the attic in 120 degree heat? It's packed with Christmas decorations, out of season clothes, camping supplies, and misc. I keep getting rid of crap, but it seems to multiply.

We are preparing for a move so I am in the " do I really want to move this box of books again and not unpack them " mode.

Yes I'm retiring at the end of the year and my goal is to declutter now so when I'm retired I don't have to do it and can have fun.
This weekend and next weekend its Christmas Decorations. I just dragged about 1/3rd of them out. So right now my place looks like "Christmas in July" except it's June.

I've been trying since school's been out. I've gotten the dining room done (easiest room). We are getting ready to redo the kitchen, dining room and living room so I have to finish at least those rooms ASAP! But I have no motivation to do it, ugh!

I dumped two bags of clothes at Goodwill. I am trying to declutter and purge after seven years in this house of doing not much of either. I am going to tackle the closet my husband and I share in the coming weeks. If you do not hear from me again, ever, that is why.

I have been decluttering since New Year's, but it is an ongoing process. I am always finding things to get rid of. My dh, tho, not so much. The good news is that he volunteers at a Care-n-Share, a donation center, so I can send stuff with him to the place. The bad news is that he sometimes brings more stuff home.
However, I just gave away 4 coffee mugs & 3 small glass vases, then discarded a ton of small items from my dresser drawers. I love purging things!
I have almost considered becoming a minimalist, but don't think I could live with less than 100 items!

I did my closet and dresser drawers a couple weeks ago. Today I cleaned out my desk. I'm kind of in a holding pattern now until my brother moves out in July. Once he's gone, I'll have to deep clean his bedroom and bathroom and do a major purge in my garage. He's been here a year and I think he has more stuff out there than I do. Once his stuff is out, I'm going to have some shelves built and will reorganize my stuff.

Like many of you, since school has been out I have been working on purging, organizing and cleaning. I have listed and sold over $300 worth of stuff on ebay, and still have more to list. I also have a large plastic tote full of things to donate, and I have thrown out a bunch also.
I still need to clean out my kids rooms, clean, then selectively put their rooms back together. Hopefully, with less clutter.

40 BAGS IN 40 DAYS 2013 is an interesting group on FB... I'll have to check that out. I follow White House Black Shutters. She's doing a summer edition of 40 bags in 40 days. So far, I've eliminated 2 kitchen trash bags, 1 crate of recyclables (1 more that needs to go) and 2 WalMart bags of old socks and shirts that I gave to dad for garage rags. It's great inspiration to keep myself going.

We are preparing for a move so I am in the " do I really want to move this box of books again and not unpack them " mode. That was me last summer! We moved cross country and literally got rid of 1/2 our crap because A we didn't want to pay to move it that far and B our rental house is 1/2 the size of our old house. You would think I wouldn't have anything to purge now, but with 4 kids we still have WAY to much stuff and it's making our too small house feel even smaller. I'm trying to convince myself that having everything we love and used put away and easily accessible is better than having all the "we might need it someday things" taking up valuable space.

I have 4 girls so when one grows out of clothes or isn't interested in a toy any longer the next younger girl gets it. Add in Christmas and birthday's for each girl and we have way to many things!

What did you do with kid's toys? Like most people, we have way too many. They are in good shape, too. So, I hate to just toss them in the trash.
Do they sell in lots on local yard sale FB groups?
I've been thinking of making lots of the toys and the clothing. Never tried that before though.
