DH is a bit, well, maybe more than a "bit" of a hoarder! He tells me he is trying to purge...hard to believe when so far he hasn't even moved anything, let alone thrown anything away! We will drown in stuff one day!

What did you do with kid's toys? Like most people, we have way too many. They are in good shape, too. So, I hate to just toss them in the trash. Do they sell in lots on local yard sale FB groups? I've been thinking of making lots of the toys and the clothing. Never tried that before though. You could do what I did - wait 20 years to purge toys. By then some had become collectibles so I made a good bit selling them on eBay last Fall! Who knew vintage Littlest Pet Shop would be worth anything! I still have another few boxes to go through. Recent toys sell well in garage sales here. Does your neighborhood use the Next Door website? Ours has classifieds and I've seen people listing kids things through it as well. We don't live in your traditional neighborhood, so I don't know. Is the website just nextdoor dot com? It's worth checking. As for collectibles, I haven't a clue what we have. It's been 10 to 15 years.

I'm lucky to have DMIL, who has a garage sale at least once a year. I had about a month's notice of the one she just had, and it was just the motivation I needed to get down in the basement storage room and open all those boxes that were still taped shut since our move 7 years ago! I got a bunch of boxes of things sent off to her sale, which was extremely satisfying.
BUT, now I'm not motivated to finish up! I have piles strewn all over the basement (house decor, keepsake papers, keepsake other stuff, pictures/picture frames, etc.) There are some boxes left to go through, but they're yielding very little trash/sell/give away stuff, so I feel like I'm just moving things from one box to another. And the basement's trashed with the piles, so I don't even want to be down there. I know I'll love it once I'm done, though. Guess that's what I should be doing instead of peaing!

I appreciate this thread for giving me the nudge to clean my fridge and pantry out. Of course now that I've gotten that done, I need a thread to make me write my darned term paper and do my homework. Meh.

This week my plan is the foyer closet, getting rid of all the games and puzzles we no longer use or want and one drawer in the kitchen that has all kinds of small utensils that I hardly ever use.

I did it!
I took that pile of clothes to the consignment shop!
Now on to the next project - they are never ending.

I swear I purge constantly, but I still have way too much stuff. We've lived in this house 27 years, so you can imagine!
I also need to keep stuff for the grands to play with. I am not sure we're done with babies in the family, so I hate to get rid of some of the baby stuff.
On the other hand, I am thinking I might want to live in a condo at some point, so I am trying to purge all the time. I take it all to church for our semi-annual garage sale.

I just cleaned, purged, and decluttered my entire house for a garage sale (I have one every summer). It's SUCH a great feeling. I have a rule that nothing comes back in after the sale. I highly recommend it!

Need to do it, but the thought of it is daunting! Gonna hang on the board a bit longer and try to get some motivation!

I really need to start going thru closets and such. I had a garage sale a couple of weeks ago getting rid of all of our baby clothes, toys, and other junk. Now I just need to tidy things up. I was amazed at how well the little kid toys sold I might even do another sale in a couple of years

I have a couple of boxes started already but I really need to go through the hall closet. Dh and I need to work on the garage but it is just too hot at this time of year. I just bought him 4 shelving units to get him organized.

When my kids were in elementary school, I gave a lot of the outgrown toys to the school for classroom use for indoor recess. Polly Pocket and My Little Ponies with their castle and house and huge bins of accessories made their way to the school. A lot of kid craft supplies went to the preschool or girl scouts. Now a days I give stuff away on freecycle. I don't have time to list and sell on ebay or hold a garage sale. I just need the stuff out of the house. Most of the thrift stores around here will no longer accept toys. I'm not sure what to do with the older electronic toys such as leap pads and leapsters. We have several of each, all in working condition. I seriously need to purge the junk, so I need to pass these on.

The beginning of the month I got rid of 9 bags of stuff we no longer use or need. It really felt good. Still seems like we have made no dent in the basement.
