My 12 year old grandgirlie is hoping to start babysitting soon. She has indicated that she would like a good book with babysitting advice. I'm going to want to order it from Amazon. Does anyone have anything you might recommend?

Here is the name of it: A Smart Girl's Guide: Babysitting. There is also a Babysitting Kit.

I don't know where you are located but there are courses for future babysitters called Safe Sitter. My daughter took the course at our Children's Hospital. It was taught by nurses (BSN). She loved it and it was so helpful. link I hope the link works, I have never done one on this message board. If it does not work go to: safesitter.org Also, the Red Cross has babysitting courses for young people. Please let me know if you have any questions!

I highly recommend the Red Cross course in addition to the book.

DD13 just took the Safe Sitter class sponsored by our local hospital. It was an all day (9:00-4:30) class and DD really liked it. She did learn infant and child CPR, how to diaper a baby, lots of safety information, and much more. She said it was a very interactive class, with some role playing and lots of brainstorming ideas and solutions to possible events. When she came home, I asked her what she learned...she tells me with a totally straight face..."that children can die in so many different ways! Who knew a kid could drown in a toilet?!?"
I also recommend the American Girl babysitting books.
