When did this become a thing? Does anyone use that size?

I've used them for years and years...since they first came out. It's my favorite size for PL!

I always used 8.5x11 albums until I discovered 9x12. I’m obsessed with 9x12. It is the only size I use unless I am making a mini album.

I wish I could make digital 9x12 albums! Unfortunately, Shutterfly doesn't have that size.

I think I started using them for my 2017 or 2018 project life.

I've recently switched to 9x12 albums for my 8.5x11 layouts due to availability.

I've been using them for years. I buy them on Scrapbook.com they are great quality. I love the size and I love the album itself is easier to handle and store. I love modifying sketches from 12x12 to 9x12 - kind of like a challenge.

I love them. I use them for my PL as well and it doesn't seem as daunting to try and fill up a 9x12 vs a 12x12 layout for PL.

They are less bulky than 12X12 albums, and I like that I can add an 8 1/2 X 11 page protector here and there without having to punch extra holes. I have a hard time with figuring out layouts with a rectangular format. I don't know why I didn't think to use modified 12X12 sketches for them. I have tons of sketches, so I'll have to give that a try.

Is that size sold anywhere besides scrapbook.com? Just curious where you find your albums.

I've been going Project Life this year in 9X12.
And my Disney scrapbooks are all the velvet albums from scrapbook.com in the 9X12 albums. I have a mix of page protectors and full page traditional-style layouts in them.

I have an orange one I use for Halloween layouts of the grands... I like 9x12 because I can do individual grandkids or do a family group and it doesnt feel like Im forcing the spread fit on 12x12...
I should use more of them.. but all the rest are big albums or minis for trips..

I was using 9x12 for my project life albums (purchased from Ali Edwards or scrapbook.com) until I decided I didn’t want two albums a year anymore (I do weekly spreads). So I went back to 12x12 and use one page protector a week (so half a typical spread) so the whole year fits in one album.

I've been using 9x12 for PL since 2016-ish? I bought a bunch of the SevenPaper brand 3 ring 9x12 albums on a discount site back in the day. The album fits nice on any bookshelf.
I'm so glad Scrapbook.com came out with 3 ring 9x12 albums so it isn't an Inked/SC/AE monopoly with the weird 4 hole configuration. With 3 holes you can use 6x8 or cut down 12x12 page protectors in the album.

I don't personally use them because I no longer paper scrap, but I am a fan, at least for pocket page scrapping.
I did a year of PL in 8.5x11 and it was a pain - everything had to be resized because photos and PL products are based around 4x6 and 3x4. The original idea of PL was to simplify scrapping so you didn't have to crop and trim - you would just slide a photo into a pocket and add a card next to it with some journaling. You can't do that with Letter sized albums. I know most people don't actually PL that simply, but working with standard photo sizes makes more sense to me.

I bought one to try for our annual spring break trip and it is hard for me. I’m usually a 12x12 scrapper and the whole rectangle page vs square page throws me off. I can do 6x8 or travel notebooks but for some reason, I struggle with the 9x12.

Just in case anyone's wondering about the 9x12 origins: this format goes back a full decade! Studio Calico released them first in their Handbooks collection. Here's the original blog post announcing the new size. This is absolutely not new but it's gained in popularity since SB.com started offering this size in their self-branded album offer.

sleepingbooty I remember when these were all the rage at Studio Calico. There was always low stock and nobody could find the pp. I think the pp are four hole punch, so you couldn't easily repurpose a 3 hole punched 12x12 pp. I remember tutorials on cutting down 12x12 albums and finishing the rough edge to fit the need for a 3 hole option. I scrap full layouts in 12x12 and they are now only old photos of my son's childhood. I use 9x12 for my PL and make one year fit in one album. I've really cut down on the number of photos I take.

so that’s where my SC 9x12 album came from! I can’t find any inserts and wondered how I even came to own it. I despise the 3x3 squares.

Inked had that Messy Box subscription with A Beautiful Mess back then and that came with 3x3 cards. I finally parted with all of them during the pandemic. Never used them. 🤪
