We have our DD, DSIL and grandson here tonight. DSIL is a proud union member and he was very touched to see all the union representation. Currently watching my Rep Jamie Raskin. Exciting! I absolutely love Jamie Raskin! I've been watching his series 'class' on Brian Tyler Cohen's YouTube channel. I wish all politicians had the integrity of Raskin. I also admire him so much for how he worked all through his chemo treatment- I don't know his he did that as chemo and radiotherapy floored me! I admit to having a huge girl crush on Raskin. Every time I see him on tv, I say “Jamie” in my sexy voice and DH just rolls his eyes. I’ve been a big fan of his mind since I started paying attention to politics but what really made him shine was his continued service on the January 6 Committee after his son took his own life.

I loved Hilary’s speech; she looked amazing, like she’s aging in reverse. AOC’s as well. When Jasmine Crockett talked about meeting Kamala when she first came to Washington, I thought it was very touching.

It isn't self entitlement. News anchors were talking about this point at length. Does the DNC want to reach a broad audience or only the area of the country that already votes Blue? The mid west is very much in play as are states in the east. Most people have jobs and can't stay up until midnight to watch a speech. Just like a sporting event, I would rather watch it live than watch a recorded version later. I think it would be in the best interest to have a wider audience for their convention. I was specifically speaking to the malaise you expressed about his speech being past your bedtime. I understand the broader conversations surrounding the timing of his speech but I also feel we’re in a day and age that allows unprecedented flexibility for viewing. I agree about reaching a wider audience. His speech is streaming on all platforms and getting plenty of media coverage, thereby reaching a very broad audience. I disagree about skipping more speakers because accepting an invitation to speak requires one make necessary changes to their schedule to ensure attendance. It’s disrespectful to disregard that effort. Putting more effort into managing speaker time allotment is a better strategy. I also think we’d be remiss to ignore the impact of the extended standing ovation Biden received, a possibly infeasible situation had he spoken earlier in the evening. If Biden is the last speaker be it 9:00 or midnight, he will get the same response from the audience. He should be the last speaker. I am saying the DNC could have done a better job of managing how many people they had speaking so Biden could have gone on a bit earlier so the people in the area of the country with more swing states could have watched him live. I know there are many ways to watch the speech, but believe it or not, not everyone knows how to access things on line nor do they want to.

I admit to having a huge girl crush on Raskin. I, too, admit to it. Nothing is sexier than intelligence. Add a wicked sense of humor and I'm done for.

I’m saying time may not of allowed for the same response. Look. I don’t want to argue. I am admittedly frustrated when an individual has the knowledge and ability to adapt their viewing schedule to accommodate changes and indicates a refusal to do so. This is much different than an inability to get online or someone lacking the knowledge to do so. If you are here on this thread posting I assume you have the knowledge and ability to stream Biden’s speech online. There are many organizations involved in the effort to get seniors (or anyone else) online. If anyone wants to get involved in that effort and lacks the resources please reach out to your local senior advocacy office or mention it in this thread and I will follow up tomorrow. I have also mentioned the importance of time allotment management several times throughout this thread so I’m not going there again. Though not perfect, the DNC displays many signs of forward movement thus far. Let’s support the party by being flexible when possible and doing our best to get Kamala elected. Wishing everyone a good evening.

That said. I loved what I saw. They could have skipped some speakers to stay on time. Clinton was great. Warnock was fabulous. It was upbeat and full of hope! I am hoping the Obama's get on stage before 11:00 tonight. I heard on the news that they were an hour late starting last night because of protestors and security, plus they got behind schedule as well. They said apparently a lot of folks were unhappy about Biden coming on so late. They are planning to be more on schedule tonight (let's hope so)

Wishing everyone a good evening. I do want Kamala elected that is why I was frustrated last night. I know who I am voting for. We need undecided voters to have a reason to choose her. Apparently the DNC realized it was not the greatest idea to have Biden on so late last night, since they are making changes to the schedule tonight. There are some events that are more meaningful watching them live. I would have like to see our President deliver this speech live. It isn't because I am "entitled". It is because it is a historic moment. I stand by my original opinion. The DNC messed up having him on so late.

In another group I saw a post from someone in SD saying that their local stations showed the RNC but aren’t showing the DNC. Is anyone else experiencing that? I am watching ok cnn right now but our local NBC station isn’t starting coverage until 9:00.

I am watching ok cnn right now but our local NBC station isn’t starting coverage until 9:00. The big 3 (NBC, CBS, and ABC) are all showing it right now, but they didn't start until 7PM and it only goes until 8PM. Before that was the usual local news. There must be some kind of agreement about when they can show it.

DNC has notified networks they should be close in time.

Found this, and it is also the same for NBC and CBS ...
"ABC News’ coverage Monday and Tuesday will feature one hour of primetime at 10 p.m. ET and two hours on Wednesday and Thursday starting at 9 ET."
So the big 3 are not showing the whole thing on their "free" channels.
