Good morning.
Dh and may not be heading to our little getaway. Dh started feeling a bit ill last night and I don't think he's feeling well now, cause he's still in bed, which is unusual for him. I have to try to cancel, despite being past the refund date. I'll see what's happening when he wakes up. I'm still not 100% and he must have finally caught it.
What's on your menu?
How is everyone doing today?
What is everyone up to?
Wishing everyone a truly nice day w/happiness and healing.

Linda, linda how often does your dd cook dinner? I think it's great that she does so. (Edited to reflect Linda's correct tag.)

Bummer scrapmaven! I know you were looking forward to a getaway. Work is pretty slow today which is good because I don't really feel like working today. I've got my one on one with my boss and I'm debating whether or not to talk about my frustrations with my co-worker. I'm not one for drama and while he's annoying, it's not anything major. I went out to dinner with my sisters last night and so I got out of cooking. I'm going to make chicken and mushroom risotto tonight as my mushrooms are about to go slimy. Hope you all have a great day!

scrapmaven that stinks. Hope he wakes up feeling much better. Tearisci I feel the same today about work. bklyngal62 Happy Birthday! Hope it's a fabulous day. I am meeting DH after work to do some shopping for our vacation. He needs a few things and I need to get some travel size toiletries. It has turned cool here so I started a pot roast for dinner.

How disappointing scrapmaven. I hope your DH is feeling better when he wakes up, but better to cancel if not. Today I went out for a bit of a walk to the pharmacy - needed more ibuprofen an and to the grocery for a few things for dinner. I walked really slowly - because I wear an Apple Watch I can see my pace and I’m way down on what I was doing before my surgery. But I’m not doing anything else for the next couple of weeks, so if my 20 minute trip to the store takes 30, it’s no big deal. I am getting a lot of knitting done, now that I’ve gotten past the idea that I should be doing other things and not knitting until other chores are done. Dinner tonight is Mediterranean stuffed aubergines. I can hear the timer beeping, telling me that the first preparation step is done, so time to season and bake the aubergines, then cook the filling.

I have no plans for the day but Molly is coming over late this afternoon following a dentist appointment ... we will hang out and then have dinner ... her choice as to what we eat!

scrapmaven , that's disappointing but I hope your DH is okay. Luckily now that he is retired, it will be easier to find another time to go if you have to cancel. Happy Birthday bklyngal62 ! I hope your day is special. For dinner we'll have the ribs we didn't have last night. Hahahaha!

Happy Birthday bklyngal62linda, how often does your dd cook dinner? I think it's great that she does so. She generally cooks once a week - more often if I need her to - when I had covid she took over all cooking and grocery shopping duties. She's also pretty good about stepping up and helping with dinner prep if needed. All three of my kids started cooking dinner around 11-12 - at first once/week during the summer and later year round. They get to pick the menu for their dinner and they're all quite competent cooks now. btw to tag me it's @ homeschoolmum Today I went out for a bit of a walk to the pharmacy - needed more ibuprofen an and to the grocery for a few things for dinner. I walked really slowly - because I wear an Apple Watch I can see my pace and I’m way down on what I was doing before my surgery. (((Hugs))) slowing down is wise while you're healing and so is knitting and resting. (((Hugs)))

Linda, I apologize. You've told me this before and I forgot today. I think it's great that you taught your kids how to cook when they were young teens. It's such a valuable life skill for young adults.

Good morning dinner guests. Well I have a headache and my body generally hurts. Ask me why. Keep in mind I had to do Father’s Covid test for him (he cannot figure it out) so I had Covid germs on me. I feed him 3 meals a day and he coughs a lot so I am a sitting duck.
There is a steak in the fridge for dinner tonight and I am going to make stroganoff with it. It’s not impressive but it should be good.
I have to go to the dentist in a few hours. They want me to come anyway. I will call and tell them how I am.
Good luck today everyone. I wish all of us as good a day as possible.

bklyngal62: Happiest of birthdays to you! DH and I just got back from a bike ride. We went to the waterfront but it ended up being terribly windy, cold and a few light raindrops. We rode 16 km and then stopped at the fry truck. Not the best or longest ride but it got us out of the house and some exercise. Tonight is my monthly supper with former coworkers. The letter is “T” so we are going to Tangs, a Chinese restaurant. Grandboy #1 is spending the day with us tomorrow. My lunch plans have been cancelled and rescheduled for next week.

Happy Birthday bklyngal62. I hope you don’t have to cook tonight It’s still chilly here but it feels like fall. I saw some leaves that are starting to change on trees on the way home. Dh is golfing so I just had cereal. I have a headache so I don’t feel like cooking. I hope your dh feels better and your trip is still on scrapmaven

I can skip a week if I want but I've only done that once. Not last Friday but the Friday before, it was cancelled due to Debbie but we got it as scheduled this past Friday and I'll get another this Friday. I love it!

scrapmaven I'm so sorry your dh is unwell. We too had to cancel a celebratory dinner. We had thought to go out of town but I decided against it and I'm glad as we would have had to cancel. bklyngal62ღ♪*•.¸¸.•*¨¨*•.¸.•*¨¨*•.¸¸.•*•♪ღ♪ ღ♪░H░A░P░P░Y░ B░I░R░T░H░D░A░Y░♪ღ •♪ღ♪*•.¸¸.•*¨¨*••*¨¨*•.¸¸.•*•♪ღ♪ Hating covid as I'm checking off all the symptoms and am using lots of OTC medications. I'm hoping my fever will disappear today. Haven't eaten very much the last few days so will not have much of anything for dinner tonight. DH picked up a banh mi sandwich and offered me some. May try a few bites later.

Happy birthday bklyngal62, I hope your day is fabulous! scrapmaven how disappointing! I hope that your DH makes a miraculous recovery and you are still able to go. Or if not, they let you change it to another date without losing your money. DD came over for dinner, and I made one of our favourites, chicken schnitzel with creamy miso mushroom sauce, and mashed potato. I also cooked some green beans with dry roasted flaked almonds, fresh garlic, and parmesan. They were really good, and even DSO - who really doesn't eat a lot of greens - had some. I think it was the glorious smell of the frying garlic that encouraged him to eat them. Only three more sleeps before we head off to Thailand!

A cousin has been taking up most of my time this week and I'm loving it. She is 19, at uni in Scotland, and spent the summer as a camp counselor in northern California. She and her Australian summer roommate meandered through Nevada and California before ending up with the other girl's uncle in San Diego where we picked her up. Another summer friend (Irish) has been meandering with yet another girl and will crash with us before the two head to a couple southern cities then Boston & NYC before returning to their respective homes. I am very envious of the meandering travel and thinking I need a trip like that. Except no hostels. Playing tour guide and catching up on family gossip has meant little screen time for me, but tonight the young adults ditched us to go to a trivia night. I did have to feed DH so pulled together steamed gyoza and broccoli. I'm so sorry Covid is ruining plans for so many. Happy Birthday, bklyngal62! Enjoy your NYC vacation!

AussieMeg, how exciting. Somehow I missed that you were heading to Thailand. This is going to be a spectacular vacation. Delta Dawn, oh no. I'm sorry that you are starting to get sick. I hope that it's very quick and mild. Dh slept all day. I'm still tired, anyway. So, we were able to postpone for a couple of weeks w/o financial penalty. It's better that we stayed here. bc2ca, I'm happy to hear that you're having so much fun with your cousin.
