www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/59740-County-Road-9_Newcomerstown_OH_43832_M41422-30062I know we love a good house thread. I don't know what to say about this one other than when can I move in, I need to finish what they started! This is truly a Maximalist Dream. The upper level would be a perfect art studio. All my oddities and tsotchkes would finally have the home they deserve. I'm in love. My only complaint is the kitchen, but I can work with it. Also I need to change up some of the rugs. But the setting for all of my "stuff", it couldn't be better! Best of all, I spy a central air unit outside. Two more and we're good. We didn't even get to see what is sure to be the creepiest basement in the whole county. It's going to cost me a fortune to get all those fireplaces operational so I'm going to have to have my husband get another job 🤣

I love the look of the outside of the house, but the inside is too much for me!!!!

Wow, that is a lot of house! I know it is because I am in pare down mode, and the square footage isn’t that huge, but all that wood and the multiple fireplaces just make it seem bigger and so much more grand! Obviously more than anything I would need at this stage of my life, but if I was younger and had kids at home, that might be a different story. Although I see a lot of dusting required.
The exterior is gorgeous and I love the big front porch. I know you don’t like the kitchen, but it already has two things that are on my most desired list, a window over the sink and a gas stove.
Most of all, I am shocked at the price. It says it last sold for $450,000, which is so low in my book. And the current value that they are estimating at $386,400 is insultingly low for that house.
Did you see the previous sales? $90,930 in 2021 $351,000 in 2022 $376,500 in 2023 $450,000 in 2024
So obviously in 2021 it must have been in very raw shape. But whoever bought it did enough repairs to turn that $90,000 into $351,000. I am always curious when a house has that much turnover. Initially, sure, major updates quite possibly by a builder/investor, but the next two should have hung onto the place for longer than they did. Especially the sale in 2023 didn’t get them that much profit. A move would cost them whatever equity they got out of the house.

I love the exterior and the land. The inside? Ohhhh. Thats a lot. The bones are great but I'd need to queit the whole house if I was going to live there. My favorite parts though are the brick + all the windows. Oh and the inlaid hardwood floor.

Not my style at all.
In general the house itself very nice. The woodwork is gorgeous. Love the brick walls.
My favorite thing is the little staircase bridge with the alcove off of it. That would be a perfect space for a big overstuffed chair and a loveseat....for reading.

At least I have never experienced one. But I have seen shows about hauntings and they say that not all hauntings are evil or dangerous. If I was living in a house that had a nice ghost, I think I could adjust.

I am always curious when a house has that much turnover. HAUNTED! My first job was working at an appraiser's office in a historic rivertown. There were several houses that we used for comparable sales in our reports. There was one house that we literally appraised at least every other year. Yep, the appraiser was told it was haunted.

I love the house itself... I have actually driven by it when I was visiting friends down in that part of Ohio in Coshocton, but its way to noisy. There is way to much going on and not a fan of the period correct furnishing. Just not my thing. But that house, oh yeah! I love it!

Well, you had me at 1874. But if the interior of an old house no longer looks old in any way, anywhere, then I just feel the need to go cry, so I'm always a bit worried before I start one of these "tours". But that certainly isn't the case here. Original and NATURAL wood everywhere!! It's larger & more ornate than I would look for to live in myself, but I'd certainly enjoy visiting several times over. If I owned it, I would go for far simpler furnishings & decor to allow the features of the house be the star instead.

Nope, you lost me on the first photo where I could see literal daylight underneath the main exterior doors. I’ve had my fair share of dealing with bugs, mice and bats before we tore down the old original part of our lake cabin. Never again.
It’s also way too busy and fussy inside for me. There’s nowhere for your eyes to rest in a house like that.

great bones and a lot of character but I really don't like the kitchen and it's just too too much - lots of dusting.
Agree that it has ghosts.

The workmanship is amazing. The diagonal floor is beautiful! 450,000 seems very reasonable.

The inside gave me a palace vibe. It was quite ornate though not done w/the materials one would use in a palace. Like I would know...

People think I'm crazy but a house I lived in with an old boyfriend (21 years ago) and a previous office/warehouse we leased had a spirit. I felt it, I even knew what they looked like without ever actually seeing them. The one at the office made me uneasy but not really scared, but the one at the house didn't bother me at all.

That house would not be my first choice also it really doesn’t fit with the rest of the neighborhood.
