aKathy's What's for Dinner 8/22

Happy Thursday everyone!
Being lazy today hopefully starting a new book.
I am fixing lemon pepper chicken, corn and parmesan noodles for dinner.

Good Morning!

I am finishing up some work before I am off for vacation. I started packing yesterday. Pretty much finished that up so I can help DH pack tonight. He will want to take 30 shirts and I will force him to put 20 of them back in the closet.

Tearisci football is my favorite sport. I live for Saturday college games.

scrapmaven happy to here Mr. Scrapmaven is feeling better.

Dinner will be whatever we need to get rid of in the fridge.

Ugh, how frustrating! Sorry you had to deal with that!

Sorry I’ve been so absent. Really busy with family stuff. Lots of them visiting from out of town. Hopefully by Tuesday next week, my life will have quieted down a LOT.

Today I have a bit of respite, and I’m headed to the gentleman friend’s house for dinner with him and his kids. I believe salmon is on the menu. Black beans and rice, and salad? Something like that.

Right now I am making Pioneer Woman chicken spaghetti, because that’s my best casserole and I’m trying to convert him to liking casseroles a LITTLE bit. So I’m taking over one for them to try another night, and a small one for his 90yo neighbor who isn’t really taking care of himself. I’m also taking some of my fabulous chocolate-on-chocolate birthday cake (just picking it up today, so we can enjoy it over the weekend with all the nieces etc. who are visiting).

austnscrapaddict, I’m sorry your DH is being a butthead.

A bit of a late start today ~ I'm getting ready to run errands which I know comes as a big shock.

While I'm out I'll decide on dinner.

Who is your quarterback for the season? I mean, I know you can switch them out right? I was gonna play, but it was too confusing. lol 

Dd1 & I having a cooking class at our friend’s cafe. We’re making seafood risotto and lemon granita and almond cookies.
Dd3 is also coming home for the weekend. She has her bff’s sister’s wedding tomorrow. She had to skip the bachelorette because she couldn’t afford the airfare and all the other stuff.

austnscrapaddict vent away. My dad did that stuff growing up. It progressed to worse things. I hope your dh doesn’t.

My hummingbirds have been so active lately. I placed flowers at every corner of the patio & deck. I already have plans for next year for more pots & hanging baskets.

I went to Costco today and you know how at the exit your receipt is checked? Well 2 men tried to go around me on both sides There was a full line of people ahead of me. The checker woman and I were not having it. We did not let them cut. First world problem I know.

teddyw That class sounds like a lot of fun. I would love to do something like that one day!! Have a great time!!


austnscrapaddict sorry that your dh is being a pain. He probably feels stupid today and that's why he doesn't want to talk about it.

Yesterday I spent 14 dollars and some change on a whole chicken (raw). With the leftovers I am going to make white chicken chili. I think I have all the stuff I need to make that.

Yesterday I had the appointment with the spine surgeon. He's a young guy and seems like he is really on the ball. (My last surgeon retired soon after my last surgery) I had a feeling that I was going to need another surgery, but I guess I was a little in denial. But the verdict is in, and I do need another fusion. He prescribed something for the horrible nerve pain I have in my legs and this morning I had a CT scan. He wanted to get a better look at the vertebrae below the fusion to decide if he needs to do something with that or not. I am also getting one of those shots in my back next week, I have always declined that because I have heard from so many people that they don't work. I guess I will find out. So now we I wait for insurance approval and to be put on the schedule. 

Keeping my fingers crossed that I can still make my trip to CA for Halloween. My sister and I have been planning this for months. I think I have a 30% chance to still go. 

Hoping this video links. We didn't see any whales on our cruise yesterday, but did get to hang with a dolphin superpod for an hour.

This afternoon is a little quieter as the girls float in the pool while I am enjoying the cool house. We are heading to a local sunset market for a food truck dinner listening to music by the beach. I expect to get either ceviche or a shrimp taco.

I feel your pain, austnscrapaddict . FWIW, a friend of a friend video taped her partner when he came home and woke the house one time too many. She never said anything, just sent it to him, and didn't deal with the problem again. 

teddyw , your cooking lesson sounds both delicious and fun to me.

The Birdhouse Lady , I'm so sorry you are looking at another surgery. Does he think any other spinal joints will have the same deterioration/problems down the road?

When you've finished converting him, can you start working on my DSO! He won't eat casseroles either, especially ones with red meat, because it tastes "stewy."    That's very kind of you to take some over to his neighbour.

I went to my local shopping centre last night to get some waxing done in readiness for my trip. Not my bikini line in case you were wondering.   My bikini wearing days are long gone, and these days I wear shorts. I walked around the food court no less than three times, trying to decide what lovely cuisine I would have, and ended up just buying some hot chips with dipping sauce. 

My son arrived home from Bali on Thursday morning. He got a bad case of the dreaded "Bali Belly" while he was there. and still isn't feeling well. The airline gave him a row all to himself on the flight home. And then when the plane arrived in Melbourne, nobody was allowed to get off the plane until the Bio-hazard team came on board to interview him!      Then they took him off the plane in a wheelchair. My son can be a bit of a drama king when it comes to being sick, so I'm sure he secretly loved it!

DSO and I have been told by several people in the last two days about people getting parasites in their bodies after being to Bali, so DS has just headed off to the hospital to get checked out. Not sure what they're able to do though.
