Any recommendations for a mattress that might be used up for 2-4 weeks at a time? I need something sturdier than the kind we ordered for college dorms and apartments. That's where the heavier comment comes from in the title, not skinny college boys, a middle aged adult 250-300 Pounds. Ugh mattresses have gotten so pricey, I need your opinions to help me decide to buy what i know will last or go for something more temporary.

I too needed a mattress for heavier people. When I went looking, I found this site for Saatva mattresses. I'm not reccommending this mattress brand, but theot write up on coils helped me a lot, so I knew what I was looking for. Basically coils with a heavier guage coil. It might be difficult to search by coil guage, but maybe calling places like Mattress Firm and asking if they have a thicker guage coil mattress. Mattress Coils

We haven't bought in a while, but our mattresses come from Nebraska Furniture Mart largely because they're reasonable. the one I'm currently sitting on supports two people that are fluffier than they'd like to be and has not fallen apart.
I would also suggest Costco.

snyder and bethany102399 thanks for understanding my question, I was afraid I worded it wrong. I appreciate the coil info!

When I needed to buy a mattress for a heavier 350+ Lb family member, I googled using the weight description, which did help with the search results.
Remember that the frame will also need to be rated to hold much more weight than a standard cheapy bed frame. It will collapse otherwise (I've learned from experience)

My DH is a big guy (fluctuates between about 315-335) and we have had the same Sleep Number bed for 19 years! It has held up better than any traditional coil mattress we’ve ever had. We liked it so much we got one for our room at the lake cabin, got one for our guest room at home, and eventually got a second one for the guest room at the lake. We were given one for DD’s room from a friend who upgraded theirs to one that’s adjustable at the head and foot, so she now has one at the lake cabin too.

I think Saatva sells a mattress for heavy folks now.

We dislike our Saavta mattress!!! It creates 2 gullies with a big mountain in the middle. Avoid

There's a company called Big Fig that make mattresses for heavier people, but they may be more substantial than what you actually need, and I can't personally advise on how well they stand up, sorry.

I just bought an Endy mattress yesterday for our spare room. Ds does come to visit. He's around 200 lbs. It hasn't arrived yet but I'm hoping for success.
