Me: "Alexa, what's the temperature?" Alexa: "it's 54 degrees out." Me: "What?!?" thinking I misheard and it meant 64. Me again: "Alexa, what's the temperature?" Same %&@(&^ answer. I'm pretty sure that's about our average high for November. No wonder my toes (even in fluffy socks) are cold. No wonder I want to curl up in the coziest cardigan, in front of a fire, with a cup of hot cocoa in my hands. After such a lovely, not too hot, barely any wildfire smoke (so far...knocking wood) summer, I sure hope that this isn't signifying the end of it! How're you faring today?

Woke up to fog and a cool, crisp 56° morning with slight breeze. Was able to ha e the house open until about 11:30am when the AC kicked on.
High today is 86°. Tomorrow will be 87°.
Then back to low 90s and gradually back to 101-105° weather. 🫠

This summer (the second half anyway) has been ridiculous. I don’t remember such a cloudy cold summer. Even some days weren’t weren’t cold were still cloudy. It’s depressing as summer is our time finally to have sun/warm. This year is just early fall. The cold kind. Ugh.

Today, in the SW part of the state it’s 65 and raining. Too warm to wear a sweater but too wet to wear sandals.
I hope it’s just fake fall and we get a few more sunny days…

I got back from Amsterdam last night, went outside this AM, and literally said WTH. I had to go into work today for an orientation lunch and had to change outfits when I realized my skirt was silk and wouldn’t make it.

But "it's a dry heat," right?!?

The winds out there are bad year around. This little tease of fall was so nice today though so I had to chime in 😊

It’s currently 58 with drizzle at my house. I guess I’m in the minority here, but I don’t mind it. Most summers we have problems with wasps, hornets, yellow jackets and mud daubers and often have to pay a pest control company to come out. The cool weather in June and again right now has really kept those populations under control, so I have no complaints. It looks like it will be nice again by next Wednesday. I’m also not a hot weather person at all. Sunny and about 65 degrees is perfect for me.

It was 63 in my house this morning so I turned on the furnace for the first time in months. My son comes down soon afterwards and tells me he smells something burning. Just dust in the vents, my boy 😊.
Weirdest August weather we’ve seen in the nine years we’ve been here. I love it though ❤️.

It feels wrong to turn the heat on in August but I finally gave up because I was freezing.
I think it has been a stupid summer. Too many VERY hot (for us) days and now cold and rainy. Grrrr and then Brrrr

I'm a lifelong Tacoman who moved out of the state 7 years ago and now lives in the heart of DFW. I usually go back in July and love the reprieve from the hot Texas summers but this year, I had to wear jeans! I am not a huge fan of Texas summers but I seem to have acclimated to the weather and now would have a hard time living back in the PNW. I don't think I could take the long grey winters and 80 is 'cool' to me now.
Sorry, your summer is less than stellar!

Yes…staying close for now. We are renting a place in Sammamish. Still a little uncertain where to next.
Hoping Sunday’s prediction holds true!

Northern Alberta it's 15C/59F this morning and is raining which we really need. I have a few windows open a bit for fresh air and fresh rain smell. Tonight 8C/46F. Yesterday was 27C/81F.
This last week we had a couple smokey days, then a couple cloudy days. Two days part sun, now it's cloudy again. Ugg, come back sun, we can't go more than a few days without it.

We moved to Washington nine years ago, after spending eight years in central Texas. I could never live there again - too hot, too humid, and no real mountains. I’m a mountain girl at heart. The PNW is my happy place, rain or shine 😊. It’s supposed to get back to 90 here next week, so I’m going to enjoy it while it lasts. My lawn and shrubs are sure happy and green right now.

It is currently 62 right now and is supposed to get up to 71 later today. This is after weeks of 90 to 105 degrees. I am chipping away at the ground bark that I had delivered, putting it all around the front and back yards because the weeds here go nuts within a week if they are left to the open sunlight. I can’t believe that there was zero mulch down in any of the planters.
I have been getting up early and getting the bushes trimmed around the bottom so that I have access to the soil below them to place the wood chips. But I have been only getting two bushes trimmed and three loads of wood chips in before it is so hot that I could barely walk back to the house. And my blackberries are ripening so I have to stand out there and pick them before they get overly ripe. The plants are loaded and they ripen in an odd manner. In a stem of maybe 20 buds, there will be 3 fully ripe and ready to pick. I had assumed the whole stem would ripen at the same time so that I could just cut it off and then pluck the berries off inside the house. It is really time consuming because the branches are covered in sharp thorns and I have to be careful not to end up dripping blood.
Then earlier in the week we had a thunderstorm and a huge downpour so I stayed inside. And while I was working out there yesterday, it started raining again. It wasn’t raining too hard and it actually felt great so I just kept working. Fortunately I had finished mowing the grass before the rain started and I just needed to trim bushes and place more wood chips so doing that in the light rain felt really nice. I should be out there right now, but I am being lazy today. I haven’t even showered yet, I’ve just been laying around and watching Netflix.

On the WA coast the temperature has been holding steady in the low 60s, even during the week of on/off rain. Next week it's saying high 60s and even a couple days of 70! Last summer we got some rain every 2 weeks (and typically on a Tuesday, weirdly). This summer not at all, until this past week. I did have to pull out some long sleeves and socks, but so far we've been able to keep the mini-splits off. Last summer we needed AC during the second half of the summer. Not yet so far.

I also spent some time in the backyard. It was needed I needed so fresh air. Not looking forward to the hotter and dryer weather returning. I hate wildfires snd the unknown. I’m glad the ones by your parents didn’t take off. We had a bunch a few weeks ago and everyone things we have a firebug in the area since they were all in the same basic areas. I know they caught one but there are still a few 😡 I am not looking forward to the next few months of heat. I can understand living in the PNW wanting to get your full summer.
