Hi everyone! I'm posting early because I'm BORED! I have been up for two hours and I have absolutely no plans this weekend ... none. I think I will watch some ASMR videos after I finish this post ... yes, I'm a weirdo! This is what I posted on Facebook today ... it sums things up I think! I hope that karenlou had a great flight and is enjoying France! How is everyone feeling? How are your family members feeling? Since I'm feeling so lazy I am sure that dinner tonight will be something easy ... from the freezer or takeout ... What are your plans today? What is on your menu tonight? Have a great Saturday everybody!

Today my mom turns 87 and we are going to go to my brothers house outside of Buffalo, New York and spend the afternoon with his family. My other brother has football practice today because he’s a high school coach and we’ll see them tomorrow.
Hope everyone has a good day. It’s nice and warm here.

Hi, I've been off the board most of the week so I'm sure I've missed some updates. I'm just waiting for some homemade granola to get done baking and then I'm heading out the door to my friend Wendy's. We are going to scrapbook today. I'm going to work on my travelers notebook with my mammoth cave camping trip pictures. Then since Wendy lives right by my dad, I asked Dad if he wanted to go to dinner. So that's my plans for today.
Jeremy surprised me again and last night he booked us a hotel room in Ludington for next weekend. We will do our customary beach sitting but we are also on a recon mission to check out affordable neighborhoods. I'm looking forward to going. Then we will come back and work 4 days and then head for a week of camping in Traverse City.

I’m babysitting the grandboys in a bit and I think I’ll take them to the splash pad. The oldest is probably too old for it but the younger two will enjoy it. Then perhaps some ice cream??
DH is on a road trip to ATV on some new trails. He left at 7 am and probably won’t be home until after supper.
Supper for me is a mystery right now.

Happy Saturday!
I’m spending the morning at the hospital with my sister and then I plan to head back home and start a new video game. My parents are coming over for dinner and we’ll either have chili dogs or chicken spaghetti. I’ll see what I feel up to this afternoon.
Hope you all have a great day!

Good morning. leannec , is there somewhere you want to go that will get you out of the house, so you're not so bored? I hope that this weekend will be much more fun than you anticipate. jeremysgirl , next weekend will be so nice for you. I hope you find a great neighborhood where you will feel at home. christine58 , Happy Birthday to your mom. Have a delightful celebration. taylortroop , have a fun day w/your grands and eating yummy ice cream. We're gonna go to the farmers market pretty soon and then we're going to a hardware store nearby that is supposed to have a great puzzle selection. I don't need a puzzle, but dh suggested that we check it out. Tmw I have my annual Mammo. My doc's office offers Sunday imaging and labs, so I took it. It's a very odd weekend activity. I'm not sure what to make for dinner. I think I'm gonna lobby for takeout Chinese. I hope that Karenlou is enjoying beautiful France.
Have a happy, fun, enjoyable day, lovelies.

We're going to a friend's annual Summer Pool Party. It is usually very hot but today the high will be in the upper 70's with a 50% chance of rain. I'll be taking pralines and my favorite strawberry/greens salad minus the grilled chicken. They always have a great variety of grilled meats. DH and I are getting ready to walk ~ hopefully it won't rain on us.

christine58 happy birthday to your mom jeremysgirl hope you find a great home! It would be so good for your soul to live near the beach/water. leannec dd and I love ASMR too. I like to listen before second bed. Like I go to bed between 8 and 9 pm but my bedtime bedtime is by 10pm. I like to snuggle into bed and relax before I go to sleep. Dd is home today from her volunteer internship as her director is on vacation so she and dh are going to the movies. I am working on my deep clean to do list. 4 times a year I like to do a big deep clean of areas around the home as well as organize and get rid of non needed items. Dinner is turkey burgers, pasta salad, baked beans, watermelon, and tater tots.

cadoodlebug send some down south. We haven't had rain since June and it's so dry. So many fires have been started. I am ready for the wet cool weather. The heat this year has been horrible.

Jeremy surprised me again and last night he booked us a hotel room in Ludington for next weekend. We will do our customary beach sitting but we are also on a recon mission to check out affordable neighborhoods he's definitely a keeper - have fun! I have my annual Mammo. My doc's office offers Sunday imaging and labs, so I took it. It's a very odd weekend activity. wow - I've often thought that it would be nice for more doctor's offices to have early, late, and weekend hours. Mine doesn't have weekend but they open at 7am M-TH and stay late until 6, I think a couple of evenings. They close early Thursday and don't see patients on Fridays to account for the longer work days. leannec - hope you find something fun to do karenlou - safe travels! pantsonfire - I do that also - helps with the clutter AND makes me feel less guilty about the days/weeks where I do the minimum cleaning Saturday is errands day here. DH took the recycling (we don't have kerbside) and I think went to the flea market and thrift stores this morning. We'll do grocery shopping this afternoon as well as drop off a return at the UPS store.

Today was more exciting than I expected. We started the day as normal - out to the butcher and grocery store, then DH said he was going to the nearby mall, did I want to come? Our TV has been slowly dying - About a year ago we had a really bright spot develop and then a week or so ago, a second spot appeared. Long story short - we have a brand new TV. It is bigger than the old one and a new this year model. The picture is so clear and bright. We got it set up in time for the football - first games of the season this weekend - and it was almost like being in the stadium! Dinner tonight is pork chops on the grill with couscous salad. I am not sure what spices or marinade DH is planning for the meat.

Happy Saturday! Heading to the hospital for the afternoon and then home for an evening of sewing/quilting. It's still much too hot to do anything else honestly. Also need to make some syrup for the hummingbird feeder. I saw one earlier this week at the flower box, tasting the salvia! I also have a second feeder that I never got hung in the spring so want to put that up as well. I always enjoy when they pass through and visit! Absolutely no clue what dinner will be. Stopping at Central Market on the way home for fresh produce/fruit and fingers crossed they have a roasted chicken. Last weekend I was too late and they were out of them! So it may be roasted chicken, or something else I find there. Doing well! They have found a bed for him on the LTAC floor where he currently is so the move will not be too disruptive. They need to do a procedure on Monday and then he'll probably be moved by Wed. He's ready to start getting up and moving more. Still transitioning from the vent, but he has said every day this week he feels a bit stronger than the previous day. As long as it is forward movement, it's all good! This week has been rough for me as I didn't sleep well a few nights and was really dragging. DH and I talked yesterday and the new schedule is for me to leave about 4 pm every day and come home. That gives me time to relax, have a proper dinner and then get to bed at a reasonable hour. I have also quit rushing to answer phone calls/text messages from the people who routinely check in on us. Now I take care of those responses when it works for me. I was home yesterday at 2 pm to meet a repairman and didn't go back to the hospital. A few hours extra at home to relax and work on things around the house did wonders! DD will go up in the evenings when she can, but we keep telling her she doesn't have to come daily. She's cut from the same cloth as her mom though!

Well my Saturday is as exciting as Leanne’s is. I I think I am better and need to go to the drug store today and my dad wants to go to Costco.
I love the fact the kids live so close to us but far enough not to interfere. I love having them live on the island and not the mainland.
Dinner could be anything. Maybe spaghetti and meat sauce sans the pasta. It could change. Anything is possible at 9:30 am.

**GypsyGirl** , the first rule of caretaking is to take care of yourself first. People want to support you, but you probably want to take breaks from dwelling on this crisis and also you just don't have time to respond to everyone. Have you heard of caringbridge.com? It's a website for people w/serious illness. You can post updates and then people can respond there. That way you aren't texting a bunch of people and answering phone calls and emails. It's a one stop shop for you and might take the burden off of you. People are well meaning and they want to support you, but I think your loved ones also understand that you need time off daily. I used CaringBridge when I was at my worst, a few years ago. It was very helpful to put it all in one place. It's also nice to know that you aren't alone and that other people want the best for you and your dh. There were many days where I was too tired to check email or text. This is just something to think about.

Ridiculously in a house of 2 people we have 5 tvs. My dh would have one in every room if I let him. Earlier this summer the main tv was acting up. I insisted on the frame tv that shows art when you aren’t watching it. I was very clear on the height of where it was hung. I measured it and marked it. Dh still hung it where he wanted- too low. I’m trying to let it go. Happy Birthday to your mom christine58It’s good to hear you’re taking care of yourself **GypsyGirl**It’s been a quiet day here. Met one of my bff’s at the garden store to walk around & chat. Heading in for a facial. My skin is so dry. Dinner is going to be lemon zucchini pasta with salad and broccolini. Happy Saturday

**GypsyGirl** when my dh was in ICU for weeks I found a group text to be the easiest way to disseminate information. I created one group which included his sons, a couple of his siblings and my sister. When anyone responded they sent it just to me. It really made it a lot easier for everyone. I hope your dh continues to make great progress in healing. sueg sounds like you’re healing well and not overdoing things. I hope you also continue to make great progress. I texted with karenlou earlier and she hadn’t slept since 5 am Friday morning. It was about 8 pm in France then. Hopefully she’s sleeping now and ready to enjoy her vacation. I don’t know if she mentioned it but this is her third biking vacation. She went to Holland and to Italy pre Covid.

I’m trying to let it go. We have 5 also but one is an old fashioned one in the garage in front of the treadmill. The big screen one is in the bonus room, next size is in the family room and we both have a smaller one in our respective offices. Makes perfect sense to me. We don't have one in the bedroom though. Don't get me started about DH's hanging things incorrectly. We have one really nice piece of art that we bought on a lark in Laguna Beach. People (we) do stupid things while on vacation. Anyway, it's a lovely painting but I told DH exactly where it should be hung in the living room. He put it a foot higher and it looks stupid. Of course he used molly bolts so there is no fixing it. Every time someone comes to our home, I feel I need to explain why it's hung so high. On the other hand, if that's the worst thing my DH ever does, I guess I should thank my lucky stars!

Happy birthday to your mom, christine58! Enjoy the family time. Happy vacations to karenlou, bklyngal62 and AussieMeg! Hope your are all enjoying lots of good local food. jeremysgirl, your DH proves himself over and over as the guy for you. sueg, I remember being so blown away by the quality of picture when we replaced our TV a few years ago. And I lost the battle to DH & the kids so it sits over the fireplace. I really think it is too high but, when we do replace it, will definitely look at frame TV options, teddyw. Good for you to set some boundaries and look after yourself as it takes a while to get your DH back home, **GypsyGirl**. I found the easiest way to keep people up-to-date was sending out a weekly group email. It started with my sisters and oldest BBFs way before we had a final diagnosis and I just kept adding to the list as the time went on. I included DH and the kids so they didn't get left out of the information loop. Everyone was welcome to forward it to anyone they wanted to. Of course people were still checking in with me but it helped make sure anyone interested was updated and I didn't feel pressure to return calls, texts, messages, etc. DH and DD both have events in LA this evening, so they have headed north already. I was invited with DH, but decided not to go since we can't just take off if I get tired and with the amount of Covid floating around here, I'm a bit nervous about being in a very peoply environment. Especially a peoply eating & drinking environment where it is hard to stay masked. DH will either use picking DD up as his reason to escape or get her to Uber to him after her event if he wants to hang around longer. She is fine either way. So I'm on my own for dinner and plan to graze away the afternoon and evening.

I’m trying to let it go. When I was still together with ex we had a dark spot on the TV ... he was too cheap to replace it ... one of the first things I bought after we broke up, delivered the day I moved into my new place was a new (huge) TV! I don't watch as much as I used to but when I do, it is in style! I have a lot of art/canvases on my walls ... all are quite low because I am short ... my TV is on a mid century modern credenza - not on the wall ... In the 70's, when I was a kid, my parents hung everything so high! Remember that?

we're a single TV household and tbh, if I lived alone, I wouldn't have one at all. I put my foot down when we first got married about NO TV in the bedroom and I'm so glad I did, especially now that DH tends to keep the volume higher. Ours is on a TV stand not wall hung. And it's not on the same wall as the fireplace (that we don't use). I hope karenlou is getting some sleep - a biking vacation sounds fun and then I think about how much fun it is to do the EIGHT minutes on the exercise bike at PT and nope right out of that idea. **GypsyGirl** - I'm glad he's doing better and that you're setting some boundaries and taking care of yourself. (((Hugs)))

I was with the grandboys for 5 hours today. Why is it that kids need to yell at each other when they talk? This girl with hearing aids doesn’t deal well with the yelling.
DH and I got back home around the same time. Neither of us had eaten so I picked up Chinese food. I have enough left over for over for my brunch tomorrow. (I fast so I don’t eat until about 11 in the morning.)
The bike trip sounds amazing but I’m not into historical sites so Europe probably wouldn’t be ideal for me. I’d also rent an e-bike since that’s what DH and I ride.

Why is it that kids need to yell at each other when they talk? Tell me about it! I'm a substitute teacher and I spend a good part of the class telling students too stop yelling! Lower the volume! It's too loud in here! My dd's are the opposite ... my mum, who wears hearing aids, has never been able to hear them properly because they speak so quietly (unless they were fighting!) ... I'm surprised Emma is a teacher because she must have to speak up!

I’m also having a quiet day. I picked up the house this morning. That didn’t take long since I’m the only one that has been home! 😂 Kait came over and we went and got a quick lunch, picked up a Target order, and went through the coffee stand. I’m really loving London Fogs at the moment.
Dh will be back in time for dinner. I am just going to warm up the white chicken chili from a couple nights ago.
That’s my excitement!
