Hi everyone! I have a headache/migraine so this will be short ... I didn't meet my mum for breakfast ... She will be coming over for dinner ... have not decided what we will eat ... I posted this on Facebook because I was an 80's teen! Did you wear 80's fashion? How is everyone and your loved ones feeling today? What are your plans today? What is on your menu tonight? Have a relaxing Sunday everybody!

Today has been miserable, weather wise, which has actually been lovely - cool and drizzling rain nearly all day.
As usual, we went to church this morning. Today's priest has been away since mid-July, so knew nothing of my recent surgery. While we were cleaning up up after Mass, someone asked me how I was going in front of him, so he asked what had happened - his face when I said I'd had a brain tumor was a sight!
After that, home, lunch and an afternoon and early evening of football - our game was the mid-afternoon kickoff and has just ended - with me knitting away in between the exciting bits.
Dinner is steak and vegetable kebabs. Dh is cooking, as I'm not going out in the rain to do it.

Good morning. I'm sorry to hear that you're stuck w/a migraine. May it pass, quickly. (((HUGS))). I had the mammo yesterday that I was supposed to have today. Imaging and the lab are open on the weekend. So, I don't have any plans. I'll sit at my puzzle and just hang out. Dinner is up in the air. I have to look through my recipe binder. I have to make use of our tomatoes while we have them. Happy, fun, relaxing day to all!

We are in for a heat wave this week and it’s already started. I went for a walk early this morning before the sun got too hot.
DH is ATV riding with his buddy but it will be a short ride today. I’m just chilling with the dog.
Supper will be grilled marinated steaks.

We were at the pool party from 3:00 until 9:00. It rained hard for about an hour then the sky turned blue with low 70s weather. Better than the 105° last year! But we had a blast and the food was amazing. Everyone brought their favorite dish to share. The desserts were equally amazing: ice cream sundaes, peach cobbler, lemon bars, pralines, cookies and brownies. DH had trouble sleeping because Cathy has endless Mai Tais at her parties and he partook of more than a couple! I felt great since all I drank was water. Dinner will be pork chops with baked yams.

Ooh leannec I am sorry about your migraine. I have got to say that I think the pop culture stuff of the 80s was probably the worst decade in history. The music? Yuck. The fashion? Yuck! The hair? Double yuck. I don't ever want a repeat of that God awful decade. sueg truthfully I think you will get a lot of people shocked when you tell them you had a brain tumor. scrapmaven you reminded me I need to make my mammo appointment too. Thank you all for the kind words yesterday. I had a long day so I didn't come back and update. But my day with Wendy was...weird. She scrapbooked for about an hour, said she didn't feel well and needed to lay down, and she napped on her couch pretty much the rest of the time I was there. I did get almost all the way done with my Mammoth Cave photos before I ran out of adhesive. Good timing though because I needed to go anyway. I met my dad for dinner. I really should do that more often. I told him I would too. I actually had a nice time. He listened and gave his thoughts about Chloe. He was supportive of me. I told him that my mother isn't talking to me. He said this is like a repeat of what happened with my brother. I didn't see the parallel before but he was right. My mother needs to constantly be the hero. And in order to be a hero to a person suffering, someone else has to be the villain. Sigh. I guess sometimes dads do know what they are talking about. I told him about our plan to move to Ludington. And I told him that the only thing holding me back is that I'm afraid Chloe will feel like I abandoned her. She has some real abandonment issues. Because of her dad, but she tries to paint me in that light too. He told me I need to go. He said she needs to learn to take care of herself without me having to take care of her. He said she's grown and me and Jeremy did our job and now it's time for us to live our lives. I wasn't expecting that. This afternoon I am sitting at my dining room table scrapbooking the photos from my camping trip to Tennessee in 2022. I was kind of on a roll. We are making shish kabobs for dinner. Chicken for Jeremy and tofu for me. I need to go get the stuff marinating.

I’m cooking today! I decided to give DS the day off. We will have ziti with chicken and broccoli (and lots of garlic).
I’m also cooking a pot roast with carrots, green beans, potatoes and mushroom gravy. I have a young coworker who lives alone, far from any family, and enjoys a home cooked meal. I’ve shared sauce with meatballs and a boiled dinner with him in the past. I will probably bring some to my friend whose husband has terminal cancer, if she wants some.

leannec sorry about the migraine hope it eases soon jeremysgirl sounds like a good talk with your dad Ack I’m on my phone and can’t remember who else I meant to reply to -sorry Dinner tonight are two new to us recipes - a cheddar cheese kielbasa skillet and cheddar cheese scones I spent some time last week going through all the cookbooks I had downloaded to my kindle and copying recipes into Paprika that I wanted to try so now I’m working through them. Last nights focaccia was a recipe jeremysgirl shared and is definitely on the make again list

My husband is home and we went out for breakfast this morning. The place we went has the most amazing gluten free toast!!! It was soooo good!
Last night was the first time in awhile that I slept all night. The medication must really be working!! I feel a lot better. I’m getting an injection on Thursday morning, keeping my fingers crossed that this help elevate the back pain.
I’m really hoping to see Hudson today. I miss him so much!!! It’s been a bit over a week.
Dinner is unknown at this point. I need to make a grocery run.
@leanne I also loved the 80’s!!! I had lots of pairs of stirrup pant. I wore them with slouchy socks and high tops!!! Also, there was so much good music in the 80’s, Duran Duran, B-52’s, Toto, and Madonna (the early years!)

I don't ever want a repeat of that God awful decade. Hey now, what's wrong with 80s music? Fashion had some challenges but it was the decade that I embraced everything from overalls to shoulder pads. I'm not sure big hair will ever make it back given that it now makes me think of fundamentalist religions with women in their prairie dresses. Imaging and the lab are open on the weekend. I love this availability. Glad to hear the migraine is better, leannec. So thoughtful of you to be feeding friends/co-workers, KelleeM. Your dad came through with some great advice, jeremysgirl. It cooled off beautifully the last couple nights, so the weather was lovely for walking this morning. It is heating up now, but I doubt we will have to run the AC at all today which is my perfect sweet spot temperature wise. DH is on a roll in the kitchen. He has been dehydrating plums and used some to make his "who needs a recipe, just toss in a bit of this, bit of that" muffins that are never the same twice. Now he has moved onto preparing Greek burgers (mix of ground beef & lamb plus a bit of this, bit of that) to grill later. I will add Caesar and Greek salads to the table and we still have some tzatziki made earlier in the week that needs to be finished.

Oh man give me Pet Shop Boys, Durran Durran, Depeche Mode, U2, Van Halen, The Cure, The Smiths/Morrissey, Rush, Heart, Pat Benatar, Janet Jackson, Madona, Joan Jet any day of the week!! Also the mid to late 80's rap/r&b too. Way better than the crap now.
Dinner is chicken, gravy, mashed potatoes, green beans, and left over pasta salad.

Happy Sunday!
I graduated in 1985 so I'm all about the 80s. I was a new wave/goth girl and still mostly like EBM and synth forward bands.
Today was a fun day. My sister, mom and I all went and had our hair done. Our hairdresser comes in for us on Sundays so we have the whole place to ourselves and we drink mimosas and have snacks. It's just an-all around fun girls day. The only downside is that she's about 30 minutes away but the salon is next to a Papa Murphys so I get a pizza every time I go. We don't have them in my town and I love them. Got one for the parents as well so now they have dinner covered for tonight.
For the rest of the day, I might progress further in my video game or I started Emily in Paris last night so I may just binge. Laundry is done and I'm ready for the week so I just plan on chillin' for the rest of the day.
I hope you all have a great day!

Fair, I'm not a fan of synth pop and am amazed at how many favorites from the 70s used synthesizers in the 80s, but Springsteen and U2 are still favorites from that decade. If you haven't seen it already, I highly recommend watching The Wrecking Crew about LA session musicians in the 60s and 70s. It is free on a number of streaming services (Prime, Tubi, etc.)

I felt better about my tv situation seeing some of you have the excess also. My local friends do not. The only must for me is one in my bedroom. That’s usually when I watch it. The heat is back here too taylortroop. All week it looks like. Hated 80s hair. My hair is super thin so those styles were really hard for me. I do love early Madonna. I had stirrups too. Wore them with my Reebok high tops and slouchy socks. This morning I got to the park to walk and there was an unadvertised 5k. Not a single parking spot to be found. Parking on the grass is not allowed so I had to go to a different park in the full sun. Dd didn’t come because she has really bad morning sickness 🤫it’s a secret. Dying to tell someone. It’s very early though. This dd has a clotting disorder that could end it unfortunately. Dinner was grilled chicken, roasted redskin potatoes & salad. I did not have any motivation for something more creative.

leannec I distinctly remember going out to a nightclub wearing (UGH!) stirrup pants. Yuck, just yuck. Not my finest fashion moment. AND.... to make matters worse, I was going with a friend to meet up with our boyfriends who were both bouncers (UGH!! YUK!) at the club. My guy was hot af too. And here I was in fricken stirrup pants. jeremysgirl I am so glad that you had such a positive interaction with your dad. As for 80s music... I love all decades of music from the 50s through to the 80s, plus the grunge of the 90s, and there are still some great bands and singers from the later decades. But my favourite is definitely 80s Aussie Rock. It's still on high rotation on my Spotify. In fact, I'm going to see my all time favourite rock band from the 80s, in October. LOVE that genre of 80s music! So, I'm here on Koh Samui. We arrived in Bangkok on Saturday night, then flew over to Samui on Sunday morning. We decided to eat dinner at the resort restaurant, which we knew from last time was great. We were very excited to see that they had set up tables on the beach. The first dish is fried banana leaves with some kind of tangy chicken concoction, it was amazing!. Then chilli beef, and a salmon and lemongrass salad. Our gorgeous server asked us "Do you want spicy?" We told her yes, we want spicy, and she said "Thai Spicy, or...." Yes, we want Thai spicy please. None of the dishes were particularly spicy, so I think she doubted that we could handle it haha!

I do agree with your dad on this now - we (collectively) tend to think/assume the we need to be in close call of our children - even as adults - but in reality we don't. They do tend to cope and even if their way of accomplishing something is different to ours, they do get there in the end. DH and I had thoughts of immigrating in the early years of our marriage but never did and while I don't regret it I do wish we had done even just for awhile. If a move is going to make your life better, and Jeremy is on the same page then investigate and make an imformed decision - don't just write it off as a bad idea. Good luck on this venture.

We had spaghetti with Italian sausage (GF spaghetti for DH). I unpacked boxes all day yesterday and got the kitchen mostly organized - there's still some things to unpack/put away but it's definitely getting there! I also made progress on getting a few things organized in other areas of the house. We have a long way to go though. Glad for the long weekend coming up so we can make more progress!
I was in college in the 80s and liked a lot of things from that decade (although not stirrup pants LOL). I have very narrow shoulders so I loved the shoulder pads trend, and my hair is naturally thick and curly so the big hair trend worked for me too.

teddyw, a good friend has a genetic clotting disorder and 2 dd's in their 40s. I'm going to think the healthy thoughts for your dd and baby. AussieMeg, sounds like you're having a great vacation w/delicious meals. Enjoy every second of your trip. jeremysgirl, your dad was spot on w/his advice. I liked some 80's music. I had thin curly hair, but the big hair thing was never going to happen. I was an adult in the 80's and was a bit past some of the trends. I saw Pat Benetar a few years ago and she still puts on a really good show. I had the legs for stirrups, but the stirrup part hurt my feet.
