I don't pre-order a lot of things...
I pre-ordered a book back in March. I chose the paperback version because it matches my other two books in the series.
I received an email the other day (legitimate) that the publishing date had changed. I received another email this morning that the item was no longer available, but here's a link to the hardcover version (for $5 more) and it will ship September 3rd.
You would think with the release date a week away, they'd have known months ago they weren't going to print a paperback version.
I just find it annoying.
I will probably just wait for the paperback and order it when it actually exists.
It's a middle grade book (for one of my kids but I will read it as I really enjoyed the first book) if that info is important.

The number of issues I've seen with book publishers since CV is crazy. I usually pre-order from a fav author as soon as I can. Pre-orders help authors and help their book be successful, so I'm happy to do it. So many freaking books are getting pushed or changed, etc. One series had to change publishers, so the covers were all mismatched. The hardback / paperback issue has always (as far as I know) been an issue, where we have to wait an additional number of months for the paperback. It's ridiculous you were able to pre-order and then just now get a notification.
