A friend mentioned to me that she read on Facebook that Katie Pertiet is no longer licensing her designs to 49 & Market. Apparently there will be a couple more collections, and then that is it.
Has anyone heard anymore news on this? Any thoughts on what might be in store for 49 & Market?
I will be very sad to see Katie go, as I have loved her collections. I really hope that 49 & Market continues on with collections that offer such a strong variety of embellishments. I really loved how these collections, while very floral, had extremely versatile embellishments that went with a variety of styles. I'm also now very glad to have my hoard stash of Katie's collections.
Looking forward to seeing what is next in the future for 49 & Market and I hope another manufacturer picks up Katie's designs.

I don't know 49 & Market to know who the designers are thankfully. I JUST got my first stuff from them a few weeks ago and fell in love... I'm not even going to look at who designed them.. lol...
I haven't used much yet, but itching too.. so so pretty.

I definitely prefer her collections to the other new designers they have been pulling in. This is a pretty big change and I hope that she is able to continue to design for another company. I have truly loved her aesthetic along with the quality of the 49&Market products . Her Christmas, travel, sherbert and summer collections have been so versatile to use.

I love the products that Katie Pertiet designs. Maybe she is going her own way (starting her own company) or signing with another company. Either way, I can't wait to see her future merchandise.

Note she left Simple Stories two years ago (ETA: discussed here), & SS Simple Vintage collections continued & are still popular after her departure.

Someone mentioned in another thread that she will be focusing on her own digital lines. I don't have a source for that, just vague hearsay

I have a bunch of her digital designs from back in the day (15-20 years ago?). I don't know if that was when she first started, but she had her own site with her products for sale. I think Cathy Z. sold her digital stuff there for a while too. (Not swearing to any of this, just reaching way back into the memory banks.)

Oh wow, that’s interesting. I love the Sherbert line and bought 2 packs when it came out. It was my first 49&Market and wonderful to work with. I’ll definitely be interested to see where she goes.

I don't have a source for that, just vague hearsay I wouldn't have thought it would be any more effort to continue do both. I currently buy her digital 49 & Market stuff (as well as so much more) from her own site. I know nothing about how it works, but surely once you've done the designing, the company takes over to turn the digital designs into physical products. I think that's a shame for 49 & Market.

There was a blog post recently where Katie said this: As many of you know I’ve been licensing my designs to 49 and Market for the last four years but they began changing direction and it was not aligning with me so I made the difficult decision to end our licensing arrangement last month. I still have a few collections yet to be released with them as well as for Sizzix through January. But I have moved my focus back to the KPD shop and it feels so good! You can find the blog post here: www.katiepertietdesigns.com/blog/introducing-a-new-color-swatch-collection/I’m disappointed she’s moving away from physical products, I’ve loved her designs for many years and the quality of 49 and market can’t be beaten.

Katie P ran Designer Digitals (before changing it to KPD), and Ali Edwards launched her digitals there before she had her own site, along with other designers like Cathy Z.

oh no! I love Katie’s designs. Her Sherbet collections are still among my all time favorites. I’m glad that I stocked up. I love the 49&Market quality but haven’t purchased many of the new lines. I prefer bright colors.
Does the change mean that she is going back to digital?

She's been doing both for as long as I can remember. I buy both her digital and physical products because hybrid is shaping up to be my "sweet spot."
