Update: The owner has noticed what Dark Lord and Dark Lord Wannabe does or does not do. They have to make things more fair for everyone. One of the problems is both have the attitude that they have been there a very long time so shouldn't have to do certain things like work on the weekend. Rainbow is finally going to be trained in the office. More supervisors are being trained (we got one trained this past week). Rainbow starts her training while I'm on vacation this up coming week. I can already feel the tension start to leave on those of us who have had to take on the burden of too much extra work!
I'm going to use made up names just to make it easier.

Setting-I work in a grocery store. Got promoted to supervisor after my 3 month's probation. There is no extra pay for this. This was 3 summers ago. The following Fall, I got trained for evening Office. There's a bit a bump of .50 cents an hour when scheduled for the Office. Which isn't much but it gave me something more to do AND experience. I'm now 50 and was a stay at home mom for along time. There were 3 evening Office until Padme went on maternity leave. So that left me and Anakin. Sunshine is a floater as Dark Lord and Dark Lord Wannabe do morning office.
I get scheduled were needed so that includes Supervisor, Self Checkout and occasionally cashier.
We have had Dark Lord and Dark Lord Wannabe complain they have worked there so long they shouldn't have to do weekends. Problem is Sunshine also has to do payroll on Saturday so is always doing morning office on that day. I am the only one doing Saturday close in the Office because it's the end of the week and there's extra to do. Last December Dark Lord talked with Sunshine and I about training Rainbow in the office before Padme leaves in April. Also Anakin was supposed to be trained for Saturday close. Nope. Didn't happen. Well the summer is nutty for our store because we get a lot of out of the city people vacationing at cottages and we are the only big grocery store on this end of the small city. Dark Lord likes to use her vacation time by going to the cottage every weekends
Dark Lord okayed 2 supervisors plus Anakin to go on vacation AT THE SAME TIME. This left Sunshine doing some evening Office shifts because no only does the owner not want to pay me overtime, I DON'T want to have to deal with working that long in a row. I'm not just in the office. I have to cover calls when the supervisor is on break and is doing the self checkout out breaks. I have to help out when super busy and when the supervisor needs my help. There can be shifts where I am getting no office work done until half way through my shift. I have to do a money pick up, figure out what the tills need for coins and bills the next day and get all the other paper work done I need to.
So we were left with 2 morning supervisors, and Rainbow who can also do either shift supervisor. But this left just me and Sunshine to cover evening supervisor and office. We have 3 shift this week working together and we work well together. However we still need to have days off too. Dark Lord Wannabe is working two weekends in a row in the office because of this. She didn't want to work the evening the one evening Office shift that needs covering. Dark Lord decided she would do it. Shouldn't have to work evenings. Shouldn't have to work weekends. Well if Rainbow was trained for Office before the summer, we wouldn't have this problem!
Also I found out Anakin's vacation is from this past Saturday until this upcoming Sunday. She's called in to ask if she can have the Monday off too. In Canada we have a long weekend coming up. Last year I was TOLD I could NOT book it off for my 25th wedding Anniversary (it's Sept. 5). I'm sorry but WTF?!?! I had to delay our anniversary vacation last year. So all I know is I have 2 days off (including today) then back on Thursday to whenever. sigh. (we get our schedules on Friday morning).
We were having many issues this past weekend. I started on the Thursday and had my last shift yesterday. Dark Lord was on her way to the cottage on Friday and before she left she said she was disconnecting from work. I thought she was joking. Nope. Shit happened. The owner tried to help with what she could. But there were answers that could only come from Dark Lord. In my province, we have a Disconnect From Work that was passed more recently. However there is a loop hole that if in a position of say a Manager, your work can choose to say you have to be available 24/7. My husband took his work phone with him on our wedding anniversary vacation last year. And of course I understood. It's the nature of HIS job. All we could do was leave her several messages through facebook messenger. No one could get a hold of her through her cell phone. Her cottage landline was disconnected. She claimed it wasn't set up properly and she only just found out. Weird because I was able to ring it last month. This time I got the phone number not in service because I was desperate and called anyway.
Sunshine and I did what we could. The owner was very sympathetic. Sunday Dark Lord did call into the store. I told her what was going on. Said she saw messages but decided to call instead of reading them all. Several of us were trying to get ahold of her. The weird thing is she runs a side bussiness. Sunshine and I noticed she had posted in her FB business group of some of her product AFTER the both of us were leaving her messages. Now I know messages will pop up on my cell phone in preview so you can at least read the start of a message. I try to give people the benefit of the doubt...
And now Dark Lord is saying she is thinking of going on stress leave. Well she would need to HIRE or PROMTE/TRAIN more office supervisor fast because otherwise the whole supervisor/office staff may go on stress leave!
Yesterday I was supervisor and was trying to train one of my co workers for that. Problem was there was a mix up on the schedule and instead of calling someone in to cover the missing cashier, Dark Lord figured we'd be okay. We WERE NOT. It's very hard to train someone when they have to keep going on cash. So later on Sunshine got tired of it and made me a list of co workers to call. Ask to come as soon as they could and stay until the end. 4th call in (I had 8 to call! so not like there was no one to call). He came in and I was finally able to get some training. She has training with Rainbow today and Sunshine wanted to get a third day but couldn't make it happened with the limited of staff for supervisor/office right now. Oh and one of our supervisors on vacation gave her notice. She won't be back.
And my shift ended with the grocery manager chasing a shop lifter across the parking lot and tackling him to the ground.
He's been told before he can't chase people. This is a frequent shop lifter. The cashier who was called in, chased along and took a picture. Police showed up. I had all the items rung ($77 worth) for them. Took a look at the picture. Next thing we know there's police cars, as in more than one zipping through our parking lot. Grocery Manager is going to get in trouble for the tackle but hey at least my crazy Thursday to Monday shifts ended on an entertaining note! 
Side note: Reason I am still were I am is because it's union. Great benefits. Automatic raises (even if they are small). For a minimum wage jog it's the best I've had for that.
Though if Sunshine or Rainbow leave... they keep me sane.
