I pulled out my boxes of photos this week. I am taking all the loose photos I have laying around and putting them in the boxes by year.
I think we probably all have this happen - we pull photos out of albums or boxes for a kid's project and they never get put back. Or, we pull out photos for a grandparent's funeral and again, they never get put back.
My loose photos are a mess. I've made good progress in pulling them all together and getting them in the boxes by year. Where I am unsure of the year, for now I am just putting those aside. I'll do those last. If I'm off a year or two, oh well!

My biggest recent project is trying to make sense of the files on my computer. They are a DISADTER. Duplicates all over, some things appear to be missing, until recently a huge chunk wasn't backed up properly (I fixed that first.), originals and altered photos all over. Some copies have basic camera labels like P08758959 or IMG 875767848 but some have dates and names worked into the file name so I wouldn't forget. I was doing really well on it until about June, and then summer took over. Once school starts again, I'll get back to it on a more regular basis because I still have a lot of work to do.

Yes, I started making a DD for 2023. I had planned to do it last year, but then December was such a crappy month and so many things went wrong and I had zero holiday spirit or joy to fuel me. But with the gift of time and space, I can do it now and I’m really happy with it. I’ve got several pages done, most mapped out. I’d like to be done in early September.

I returned to a large project that I had started about two years ago, but had to drop it due to health issues for a year or so. I'm waiting on surgery for that issue, so I figured I'd try and add to the project, although I won't get it completed this time either.
I've been working with the Shadow Box Frame from Foundations Decor and hoping to complete the inserts for each month of the year plus the birthday one. I've got 9 months done now, with December, January and June plus the birthday one left to do. Hoping to get the January one done before I have to give it up again.

Photo uploading, for printing. I am years behind. Getting done, extremely slowly but surely.

Trying to organize the photos on my computer... ugh.
I have never had the urge to document my wedding-- non-traditional, broke college students low budget Hawaii wedding (and only have about three blurring photos of my reception two weeks later) but I found a paper line that might work so I ordered it. Now will I ever actually make the album? Who knows...

I am in the process of reorganizing my photos on computer. My printed ones are already in boxes in date order, but I want to go through and get rid of the ones I'll never use - parade photos of people I don't know, scenery I don't remember, etc.

I'm labelling the (digital) photos from a trip DH and DD24 took back in 2012 to DC. They were only there 4 days but they packed a lot in (it was a tour group). Then I need to plan out the album so I can order photos.
the slightly bigger project that is part of is making sure all the digital photos I want to scrap are printed. There's a second DC trip from 2018 I know I need to deal with and I think a couple of smaller trips various kids took.
And the bigger project - is labelling all of my digital photos.
The BIG overarching project is finish scanning, labelling, and organising ALL the photos - mine, my mum's, my granny's, my gr aunt's.... so I won't be passing down the mess that I inherited

wow, lots of the same vibe - PHOTOS!
I just finished editing and printing close to 1000 photos from a family trip in 2023. That was step 1 of the project, and now I get to start the album(S) themselves. I'm looking forward to it...but that's a lot of scrapping of a single 11 day trip. I'm going to use divided pages for lots of them.
I also need to organize/edit/print photos for several big events and trips in 2023/2024. But I feel like all my crafty time will get eaten up by photos if I don't take a break now.

I'm halfway through my wedding album. Even though it was just a year ago, so much has happened since then (not bad just lots of life things) that I'm not particularly motivated to finish it. I'm also trying to focus on having extensive journaling on most of the pages so sometimes I'm just not in a journaling mood. I did work further this past month on my Countdown to Christmas album from last year and am up to Christmas Day. I really dislike scrapping Christmas Day, though, and I need to tackle our at-home Christmas Day as well as our Christmas Day gathering with my family.
I'm also debating what to do about my childhood - college photos. I don't remember a lot but I could jot down a sentence or two about some of the photos; I will probably do them pocket-style to save time. Maybe I can add in a few bullet point journaling pages for those stories that I remember but I don't have photos of? It will require scanning in photos which is why I haven't tackled it yet. My college photos are a big sore spot as I had a very tight college clique with whom I had a falling out senior year so 95% of my photos from those four years are of them... and the other 5% are of my abusive ex. I might just let the college photos go since I'm no longer friends with (or married) to those people & I'm not sure that those years need to be forever memorialized since I have changed so much since that time.

Finally started the album for our cute pet dogs.
I’m forgetting on purpose that I have a trip album I’m 75% finished on as I was a little burned out (but need to finish soon for when we go on our next trip in Nov!)

After taking Ali's Stash Class this summer, I finally feel like I'm in a good place with my supplies...but my albums are still an absolute mess! I'm the queen of starting new albums and then fizzling out before I finish them. Yesterday I started going through them, and ended up consolidating 4 seasonal albums (winter, summer, fall 2022 -all 6x8- and spring 2022 -4x8-) into 2 6x8 albums. Then I sat down and wrote a list of what was missing from these albums to make it feel like I had all the important stories from 2022...I think it was only like 4-5 stories which feels totally doable! So now I want to go through all my albums and do this.

Maybe just a layout or two summarising your college years - where you went, your major, favourite memory and a couple of photos of you from back then? (even if you have to crop photos to get just you)?

I had a baby last September (she is almost one, which is crazy to think about!) so my scrapping time is extremely limited. My "big project" would be to scrap her baby photos before she gets much older. I find myself wanting to scrap about the more unusual stories, not just the basic photos, but those are harder to scrap in the sense of choosing papers, etc. She is actually starting daycare in September, so even though I will still be working full time, I am hoping my mental energy frees up with her out of the house and I can maybe scrap during my lunch breaks (work from home). I should probably print some photos in preparation for Sketchtember, which will hopefully motivate me.

I try to keep up on most of my areas of my scrap room that bother me. However, a few years ago, I was watching a YouTuber who put all of her stickers in homemade books so she could use them according to themes and not lines. I thought that sounded like a wonderful idea. I didn't want to use the books, since that would take me months to do, but I decided to put the sticker sheets in album protectors and if there weren't too many stickers, put like ones on the album plastic since the stickers came off them easily. I had 4 very full paper holders full of those plastic protectors. I just didn't use them the way I thought I would. So last week I decided to start putting the sticker sheets/ephemera (added to paper) back into the bags with the paper lines. It has taken me over a week to get everything back and while I was doing that I was also purging. I have already sent a big box of paper to the second hand craft store. My next project is getting all of my extra paper that is stored in a closet out to the second hand craft store. I don't want to overwhelm them with it all at once. If anyone is interested in getting free paper, let me know. I'd be happy to send it all out to crafters. Not sure how to do shipping, or the box, but I am willing to try. (The paper is mostly name brand and pretty thick.)

I’m just updating that I’m more than halfway done! 🥳 it’s been really easy and fun. The one rule I made for myself was no sewing machine. I wanted to keep it simple, and that was my no-go line. 😂 There have been several times I’ve had to revisit my rule. I would have liked to be done by now, but it turns out I have less free time than I thought. And I don’t like trying to scrap once the sun sets and I lose all natural light.

I have two big projects I abandoned in the past that I should return to: organizing my digital photos (getting rid of duplicates, backing up older photos to the cloud) and organizing my layouts and albums (since I quit scrapping chronologically things have gotten out of control.)

I have too many scrapbooks of my own. My kids have permission to toss them when I am gone. But, I decided to go through them and toss some layouts. For example, I have way too many grandchildren layouts at holidays when they were very young. I reduced the number of pages, using only the best photos.
I've tossed all the maps and brochures tucked in or on a page. I've tossed pages of just scenery or zoo animals.
I've taken all the bulky embellishments off. Some I can just remove the foam and readhere the embellishments.
I have emptied 2 full albums so far. So, I am saving space and money, since I can reuse the albums.

Oh mikklynn. What a job! I need to organize (purge) photos so badly. I used to order 2 or 3 copies of photos for several years and those need to be pared down drastically. But it's gonna take a lot more ambition that I can currently muster to tackle that job. I wish all of you success in your projects - a little bit at a time will eventually add up to DONE.
