We’re looking to replace our sectional. We love the Thomasville one from Costco, but the reviews are only so so. There’s 7,000 reviews, and 270ish 1 star, but an overall 4.6 rating. After reading the reviews, I can’t decide if it’s worth the risk, although with Costco, they’d take it back.
We’ve looked into LoveSac, but $$$, and their reviews are about the same. The good reviews say great things, but the bad are really bad, and things we’d want to avoid.
All of the ones I have found online that are what we’re looking for are in that same boat.
Have any of you purchased either of these recently, or purchased a sectional that you really love? The one we have now we got from Haverty’s, and the quality was questionable from the beginning. After getting it delivered, we had to have someone come look at it. They “fixed” it, but didn’t. Problem kept getting worse, and now (after 6 years, which may be normal these days), the fabric is pilling and the back cushions are all out of shape. So frustrating.

All I’m going to say is good luck. We were shopping for a sectional couch a couple years ago for the basement media room at our lake cabin and the sticker shock was real. 😳 You can still get quality furniture but it’s going to cost big money. There is a place in our area that sells Amish built furniture. We bought our bedroom set there years ago just before our kid came along and it’s very sturdy and has a lifetime warranty, so that was our first stop. Holy crap, a basic couch there, on sale, was about $5000-6000. Just for a couch, not a sectional. Okay, it was outside of our comfort zone to buy a couch that would take literally 4-5 years to pay off so we kept looking. All the stuff at places like Ashley Furniture or Slumberland is particleboard junk, and even that wasn’t cheap.
What we ended up doing was buying a microfiber sectional in like new condition from one of DH’s clients who was moving and didn’t have room for it at the new place. It’s not what I would have picked, but it’s decent and it serves the current purpose plus it was $400, so I guess I can’t really complain. The guy was going to list it on Marketplace buy DH happened to be in the right place at the right time. Knew it was about $1200 but the guy didn’t think it came apart (I figured out that it did once we got it to the lake) and he just wanted it gone. Win-win.
I guess if I was looking for something like that again that was better quality at a lower price, I’d check Marketplace or an estate sale first. There are always people selling really nice stuff because they’re moving or downsizing or whatever, especially big things like sectionals or king size beds that they don’t want to move. My friend’s dad is a great example, he’s 80 years old and wants to downsize but he has a whole HUGE house full of top quality, barely used furniture that he’s going to have to offload somehow first. My guess is that when the time comes, he’ll have an estate sale and that’s how all that stuff will go.

I agree with looking at Marketplace or, if you have any kind of furniture outlet or clearance center in town, look at that. Our current sofa and chair were factory samples from a high-end store that they were selling at a deep discount. In the past, we've purchased name brands from the local furniture outlet and have been happy with them. My oldest is still using one of those couches in her apt 25 years later (she wasn't even born yet when we bought it) and it's held up like nothing else. (It's out of style, obviously, but she puts a cute throw over it and makes it work.)

We bought one at Macy's at least 10 years ago and it still looks brand new. It is microfiber. It doesn't have all those extra cup holders, charging stations or the recliner seats. It is just really well made.

If you’re in the DFW area, Weirs has good quality furniture and they’re running a sale this weekend. Just checked their website and most of their sectionals are $5K or under.

I bought ours from a local sofa store. Maybe look for an independent store.

I did look online and didn’t really see anything that jumped out at me, but we may go look in person this weekend. Our bedroom furniture is from there, and we love it!

That’s a great idea if we were really needed something, but if I have to cover it up to make it accessible, I’ll just cover mine. It’s “fine” and works to sit on, it’s just not as nice looking as we’d like, and is noisy. Kind of annoying. I will see if there are any outlets around.

Check the Radley sectional at Macy’s. You can get almost any configuration you want and they’re a great deal, especially when on sale.

Mine is Joybird and was under $5000 (I think the list price may have been over but they literally always have a sale). It's also pet-guaranteed fabric. I love it. I replaced a Crate and Barrel sectional with it and much prefer it.

Will you consider leather?
Our leather sectional came from Costco about 10-12 years ago. We taped out the dimensions and crossed our fingers ordering it sight unseen but have been really happy with it. I'm not sure if I can find the label/brand anywhere though.
Our 18 year old leather sectional is still going strong. It was demoted to the bonus room only because we wanted something bigger in the family room.

Is it rated 4.6 out of 5? That seems pretty high, personally I would go for it and not worry about the negative reviews.
I consistently have good luck with West Elm. I also really like both CB2 and Crate and Barrel. I’m in the process of furnishing an entire new place so have been looking at tons of furniture places!

We’ve had our LoveSac sectional for four years and still love it. I’ve had to wash an arm and a back cover when a cat barfed on them, pretty easy. And I’ve had to switch up the arrangement of them and like how easy it is to do. They are pricey but I got them when they were offering a discount, and they’ve been worth it.

My priorities for a couch are: 1. That my feet comfortably touch the floor when I sit back on the couch. 2. Comfort 3. Features.
If #1 is not satified, we dont consider it (except for the couch I am currently sitting on that dh picked out and I conceded on point 1. We both hate it )

We got one from American Furniture Warehouse in Denver, an Ashley brand, can't remember the model name for $800. It is comfortable, has attached pillows, kind of a dark gray (not best color) with a lounge on one side.

We don’t have a ton of space, but our room is basically square, so a sectional fits the space well. We may just have to go with a regular couch and loveseat, but I like our sectional…sorta. LOL

I just saw a Macy’s ad and they showed the Radley sectional for under $3,000. There’s a selection of fabrics. We have it in dark gray.
