I loved The Office back when it was on TV. Never missed an episode. About a year ago, I watched an episode and just cringed. I think our world/I have changed, and I would no longer find it funny.

When it was on, I loved The Office and I found it funny...everyone's sense of humor is different. I haven't really watched the reruns though.

I watched the UK version first and both DH & I loved it - Ricky Gervais is a cringe-level genius and hilarious. We tried the US version and just couldn't get into it. First, both DH & I dislike Steve Carrell so that didn't help, but the US version always seemed like it was trying to hard and just ended up (to me at least) coming off as like a UK Office wannabe. Which is not to say that I didn't find some of the US version Office episodes funny, just not anywhere near the level of the UK version, which we thoroughly enjoyed in all their cringe-worthy glory LOL!
Our adult kids love the US version Office (never having seen the UK version).

I never got into it, same as Big Bang Theory or Seinfeld either. But my husband and son are die hard fans.

I think Michael Scott is the master of cringe. When he had to tell the students that he wasn't giving them scolarships, basically destroying their dreams, that was die hard cringeworthy. Come on, the episode in my spoiler? CUHRINGE! I just couldn't wait for it to be over. He is so good at making people squirm.
I loved Steve Carrell in The Patient on Hulu. He was not quirky or weird. It was a very serious series and he was brilliant in the role.

So many older series don’t really stand up now, though I never really was an Office fan to begin with.

DD loved it. She’s 20 and watched maybe 4 or so years ago. I tried and it’s just not my jam. I didn’t care for the way it was filmed.

I love that movie so much, it makes me cry every single time. I also loved him in the movie with the miniature mice, Dinner For Schmucks, and in The 40 Year Old Virgin. He was also good in Foxcatcher--I think he's very versatile.

I love The Office and it is in my regular rotation for night time comfort shows. I’d just skip to the second season instead of trying to slog through the first.

I am obsessed with The Office. Like, crazy about it. My computer room is decorated with that theme (Pam's painting is just to my right as I type). I have the Fisher Price Little People, the Funko Pops, the Lego set...
In the past I've listened to 3 podcasts about it. I'm down to one now, The Michael Scott Podcast Company. I listen to it on my drive to work.
I only really love it until Steve Carell leaves, though. So the 1st 7 seasons. Season 1 is rough to get through for some people. When they came back the second season they lightened the series up, both figuratively and literally, and made Carell's character more likeable. The show took off after that.
I can pretty much have a conversation in only The Office quotes. I have an Office quote for any situation.
I intend on going to one of The Office conventions some day. I wish I went to the one this year- it sounded great.
So yes, I think The Office is funny. It is my favorite comedy. Other ones I like are Arrested Development, Parks & Rec, and 30 Rock. I do not care for The Big Bang Theory, Friends, and Seinfeld. I don't like 3 camera sitcoms, generally.

I love it. The last few seasons are okay - not great - but the first bunch? Hilarious. Yes, the lead actors are fun but it's the co-workers who steal it: Oscar? Hysterical. Creed? OMG.

When I see little clips of it I think it's funny. I've tried a couple times to watch and never got past the first few episodes. I love sitcoms but can't do this one.
The US version, never tried the UK one.

Creed used to write a blog back in the day which was so hysterical. I wasn't a fan of the last few seasons and didn't make an effort to watch, but the early seasons were comedy gold IMHO. I really don't remember much of the first season but was a fan of the original UK version so was willing to give it time to come together.

The first episode my husband and I watched was the sexual harassment training episode - it was so incredibly awkward and hard to watch. But we’d heard that the show was funny so we rented the first season from Netflix. By the time we got to that first episode we had seen, we were into the flow of the show and thought it was really funny. I’d recommend that you watch the first few episodes and get to know the characters better. It’s one of my all time faves.

It's hilarious and makes you cringe. Season 4 has the best episode of the series, imho. I'm gonna spoil the title, so don't look unless you don't care. I'm sorry that you have covid. Yuck. Feel better very soon.
This IS the best episode! If you have Peacock (they gave me a 2yr subscription when I upgraded my Xfinity internet), they have Office Superfan episodes which are extra scenes for every episode. They are awesome. They are only up to S6 right now.

Personally I don't think so. But I've never really like comedies except for a few of the old-time ones. My daughter loves The Office.

I’ve heard that it is, but I couldn’t sit through enough of it to find out. DH won’t even watch anything with Steve Carell in it because he hated the office.

I was a huge fan of the UK office and thought Ricky Gervais just did an amazing job as did the supporting cast.
When the US office started, the first season was almost a dead-on repeat of the UK Office episodes so I found myself comparing quite a bit and the US one fell short. As the seasons got going, they found their own rhythm and got funnier and funnier.
My DS who was in Jr. High at the time, loved the office. We were always so amazed because he had obviously never worked in an office and we didn't think he'd get the humor but it's still his favorite show to this day.

Everyone in my family loves it except me. It’s just not my humor. I watched a lot of episodes to try and get into it but I just couldn’t.

We watched the US series when it originally aired and loved it. At the time, our friend group was divided. Those of us who worked office jobs thought it was amazing. Our friends who were teachers, nurses, police services thought it was dumb. It was like you needed a first-hand experience with office politics to really appreciate it.
I do think it's one of the shows that has aged poorly. A lot of the jokes aren't really funny in today's world.

This blurb came up in an article I was reading.
Everything that made the U.S. adaptation of The Office brilliant after the disastrous, abbreviated first season is right here in the kickoff episode of Season Two, where the Dunder Mifflin gang heads to Chili’s to receive awards like “hottest in the office,” “longest engagement,” and “fine work.” Steve Carrell portrayed regional manager Michael Scott as an unrepentant dickhead in Season One, but he’s rebooted here as a well-meaning but desperately lonely man who looks at his co-workers as surrogate family members. And they band together behind him for the first time when some bros at the bar begin pummeling him with rags during his Elton John parody “Tiny Dundie.” The episode gives everyone in the cast a moment to shine, moves the Jim and Pam relationship further along (they even share a brief, drunken kiss), and gives us timeless quotes like “I feel God in this Chili’s tonight.” Prior to this episode, the U.S. Office was in danger of being a tiny footnote in television history. After the Dundies, it was on a path towards outshining the U.K. original. —A.G.
