I only have the TV on if I'm watching something. It was 100% the way I was raised and, since we didn't watch TV until after dinner, to this day I feel slightly naughty watching a show in the middle of the afternoon. I married a TV is on whenever he is home guy. And he never turns it off even when he leaves the room, claiming he thought I was watching, even though I might be in a different room. My ILs were like yours, Miss Ang, except they don't have a TV in the kitchen. It is the radio that goes on there. So the volume of the TV goes up, then the volume of the radio, then the TV, then the radio, and everyone is yelling at each other and I have to leave. FWIW, DS will leave the room with the TV on and DD always turns it off.

It depends on my mood during the day. I do have it on at night as my tinnitus is worse at night and it helps to drown it out. I have it on Paramount with Fraiser usually.
I used to have it on most of the day but I’m not doing that as much the past couple of months. I’ve also taken up listening to audiobooks when working around the house or while walking.

I only have TV on when me (or someone else in my family) is watching. I like the house quiet and I feel like I can concentrate better when it isn’t on. When I first got married, my husband would turn it on first thing in the morning (when he was growing up, the TV was on 24/7/365) and it would get me overstimulated. Luckily, he’s been understanding about waiting until later in the day to turn it on!

Ours is on if I am home alone -- or I have a podcast on. But yeah, I need some noise.

Years ago the TV would always be on. Either with kids shows or the news. Now I turn it on when I am home alone, I play shows while I am cooking. Or when NHL hockey is on.

The only time my TV has been on this year was for the opening ceremony for the Olympics. I did watch Traitors back in Jan/Feb, but that was on my iPad.

When we get home from work, I turn the TV on to catch the local news. I watch while prepping dinner. It stays on until we go to bed, even if we are not watching. The tv is usually only on in the evenings.
Growing up, and even with my own family, no one was home during the day. So I don't watch tv during the daytime, even when home from work. Not a habit with me to turn it on. On weekends, we turn it on in the daytime only if watching sports. Right now, early Sunday afternoon, no TV or music on.

Most of the time I really like my house being silent. People come over and comment on why I don't have music playing or anything, I just don't like the noise. However, sometimes I do turn the tv on while I am doing chores or cooking. Not necessarily for noise but just so I have a small amount of entertainment that I do not have to pay close attention to.

This will be a continuous discussion between DH until the day we die..... I watch tv, then turn it off when done. He turns the tv on in the morning and then expects it to be on all day while he pops in and out. Drives me bonkers to have a tv playing in an empty room/house!!!!

I usually have it on in the background. I hardly ever watch any actual shows but I have cnn or a YouTube video on most of the time as background noise. Lately it’s been less cnn because I can’t stand a few of their contributors and I’m sick of hearing about the election. The Samsung tv channel has Pawn Stars on all day and sometimes I just leave that on for awhile.

If my DH is home, the tv is on. I’m a bit better.

I said only when I’m watching, but sometimes I accidentally leave it in when I leave a room, and forget to go back and turn it off.

Tv is turned on around 7am when Dh gets up and usually goes off around 10pm when I go to bed. DH is a SAHD and battling brain melanoma right now so the tv is his thing. He watches cooking shows all day every day. For me it’s background noise while I read on my phone or play games on the switch or do school stuff on the computer. Our home is open concept so it can be viewed while making food in the kitchen or heard while in the laundry room. I don’t mind it usually. If I’m home alone I tend to just leave it off and enjoy the quiet. If I get bored with the quiet I’ll put on yacht rock XM via the tv.

When we're watching, or when I'm watching and DH "watching" through closed eyelids. The only other time is when I'm ironing, because I want something to listen to. DH tried to set the radio up in the lounge so that it comes through a speaker, but I can never remember the sequence of remote controls I have to use to turn it on - and the last few times he couldn't get it to start either, so I don't bother.

Never if I’m home alone. I do watch some Netflix but on my tablet. I prefer a quiet house especially if I am reading.
It’s on if Dh is in the house. I have spent a lot of time reading outside on my porch this summer.

I only have it on when I am specifically watching something. I used to be the opposite. Now I really hate the extra noise.

I don't like silence; the tv or music are on in the background.

My tv is never on. I prefer to get news from online. The tv's are mainly for playing games and only get turned on if I or my daughter needs a monitor to play a game. Actually, the only reason there are tvs in the house is because hubby watched them, but he passed away about a year and a half ago.

DH has it on always when he's in the basement working on his hobby. It depends on what I'm doing if I have it on or not. When I'm in the kitchen cooking or cleaning, I'll turn it on as a distraction. Same if I'm in our bedroom folding clothes or picking up clutter, etc. If I'm doing more whole house cleaning, like mopping, or going from room to room, I'll turn on music or listen to an audio book with earbuds. I don't like to clean house without some kind of noise for either distraction or motivation. If I'm just sitting and relaxing, it depends on my mood if it's on or not. A lot of times I like to have just silence.

While at home, DH always needs the TV on. I find myself turning off TVs after he leaves a room. I prefer music. When I’m working, I like to watch fluff TV (predictable stuff that doesn’t require attention).

It just depends on my mood. I guess I lean more for it to be on than off. But it isn't constantly running.
I do fall asleep and have Gilmore Girls on.. I've watched it so many times that I don't have to look at it.. it now puts me to sleep.
