Hi everyone! I'm posting early because I am getting ready to meet my mum at Denny's for breakfast! I plan on attending sans makeup because I didn't sleep at all last night ... no one to impress there anyway! So a nap is in my future today if I can convince my body ... I might wash my Jeep on my way home from Denny's though ... I usually drink black tea but I might have coffee today to get the bigger hit of caffeine! No meme for you today because I haven't posted on Facebook yet I have Hello Fresh coming this afternoon so I will have something from that for dinner ... Tortellini in a tomato sauce I think ... yum! How is everyone feeling today? How are the vacationers doing? What are your plans today? What is on your menu tonight? Have a relaxing Sunday everybody!

Happy Sunday!
My dad is still in the hospital so my sister, mom, and I had a fun girl's night last night. We went out to the local beer place and had dinner and some beers then walked down to the winery and actually sat outside as it wasn't a million degrees outside but it was still pretty humid. We went back over to my sister's afterward and stayed up and drank more wine and talked. I was dragging a bit this morning!
Today, we're celebrating my niece's birthday again at my sister's house. She has a pool so I'm guessing there will be some swimming. I'll eat over there and I think I'm bringing a chili dip as an appetizer.
Hope you all have a great day!

leannec , I hope you can get a restorative nap today. I feel for you. Rest well and enjoy your breakfast and dinner. Tearisci , you all needed last night. Just relaxing and having fun is a great stress buster. I hope you'll do more fun stuff.
Linda, your dinner sounds yummy. Any chance you could share the recipe? Enjoy today! Dh is going gangbusters on the paint. I have an errand to do and then I'm home for the day. Not sure what I'll make him for dinner. I'll see what his tummy wants. I'm gonna set stuff aside for our getaway this week. Remember that he was sick a couple weeks ago and we had to postpone our trip. Now we're going on Tuesday and I'm very happy that it's finally here. I have much puzzling to do today. Wishing my tribe a happy, relaxing, healing and for my partner-in-crime, a restful day.

Good evening Normal Sunday for us - church before lunch then DH had to go into work to support the ‘go live’ team while I just vegged out around the house, knitting, playing games on my iPad and (sort of) watching football.
Dinner tonight is grilled chicken with a Greek marinade, grilled aubergine and the left overs of last night’s couscous salad

What is on your menu tonight? I bought a rotisserie chicken this morning, and there are already soups/snacks made in the house. If no one wants any of that, they can make a sandwich.

I have a pound of ground beef I defrosted yesterday. Was going to make chili rice but ended up polishing off all the rechauffe instead. Meanwhile my sister texted me that she made chili rice and is bringing some over. So I need to find something else to do with my pound of ground beef. Now I want to go out for breakfast, too.

Just got home from having breakfast with hubby in our favorite cafe. I'm going to relax and then maybe start working on decluttering our closet. I've started many times but never really finish. Maybe today will be the day..lol
For dinner we are having grilled chicken with a salad.

DH and I took a road trip this morning to visit a flea market. We bought some Tupperware bowls that we’ve been looking for forever. We have a 3 set of bowls that we got when we got married 36 years ago and DH loves them because they have a lip on them that you can grab when removing one from the microwave. The bowls are now warped and discoloured but he wouldn’t let me throw them away. I’ve looked for ages to replace them and was told that Tupperware doesn’t make them anymore. Well… the lady with her Tupperware display had them!! DH was so pleased. I also bought Walker a personalized embroidered bandana. It’s so cute but he’s not impressed with it.
Nothing planned for the rest of the day. Supper will be leftover steak for me and fend for yourself for DH.

Thanks for sharing the recipe, Linda. That sauce looks amazing. I'm glad you found your furniture and hope it is delivered quickly, christine58. I had enough sleep but am dragging today. Ugh I put dibs on the leftover lamb for dinner otherwise DS & DH would have had it for breakfast. And neither normally eats much in the morning. The spinach & feta pinwheels were a big hit yesterday. I only had enough filling for one pastry sheet so used the other one to make a banana chocolate pie. It is literally pastry filled sliced bananas, chocolate chunks and salted caramel chips. So easy and tasty. I'm thinking a layer of peanut butter would work well if I do this again. I'm alternating between the office organizing/purging, a puzzle and my current read. I'm not really enjoying the plot/characters and have a feeling I will hate the end (The Lies That Bind), but will be done with it today.

Linda, thank you for posting that yummy looking recipe. I wanted to try a new stir fry recipe w/our peppers, but dh wants boring fajitas. Whatever. bc2ca, those pin wheels look so pretty and delicious. christine58, congratulations on the new furniture. ntsf, It's so nice that you're getting lots of time w/your dd and ddil. Have fun w/your new phone. taylortroop, great score on the bowls. lucyg, did you go out for breakfast? If not, can you do so tmw?

scrapmaven, no I did not, but I’ll get there one of these days. Honestly, I do NOT need a big, heavy breakfast like I’m envisioning. But my son would meet me there pretty much any time I ask, so maybe in a couple of weeks when I am less busy. I’ll report in when I make it out to breakfast.

@scrapmanven I'm glad you get to do your getaway. I'm waiting for my sense of taste to return before we make up our anniversary dinner or getaway. cadoodlebug love the meme. I remember crying when Andy went to college. bc2ca those pinwheels look delicious. christine58 new furniture is so much fun. Brings new life to a room. DH and I took out vietnamese food as it has some strong flavors. I guess they recommend different foods to stimulate your sense of taste. I can't taste cheddar cheese or tomatoes. The vinegar in the dish came through as did some of the seasoning on the chicken. Still doing some cleaning and laundry. Just snacking tonight.

Honestly, I do NOT need a big, heavy breakfast like I’m envisioning. I just eat two poached eggs and either hashbrowns or toast ... not anything heavy!

Marina, losing your sense of taste and smell must be terrible. I only lost my sense of smell when I had it last year. That was bad enough. Dh was able to eat Indian food and taste it a bit when he had covid last year. I couldn't smell it at all. I knew I was sick. I hope you regain your taste and smell, quickly. Plan a fun getaway. Everyone is back to school, so you and your dh have the world to yourselves, well except for a few billion other people.

leannec , I could eat that at home. 🤪 What I’m picturing is chicken fried steak and gravy, with eggs and hash browns and toast made from Portuguese bread they bake on the premises. Otherwise not worth the trouble to get dressed and go out. I take home half the breakfast and all the toast. And to the rest of you getaway-ers … I also have a getaway coming up this week Wed-Fri (just to Pacifica) and it also replaces a previously scheduled trip that fell apart last spring. Looking forward to a good quick trip.

update on the Dijon chicken - DD (very surprisingly) enjoyed the chicken and the sauce but (no surprise here) didn't like the butternut squash. DH said that the sauce flavour overwhelmed but that the chicken on its own was very bland (uh...yes, it was only seasoned with salt and pepper since sauce...). So while I enjoyed it, it's probably not one I'll make again.
