Have you considered finding alternate options, maybe in an AirBnB, or a small boutique hotel that won't be impacted? I personally will not cross a picket line and would cancel unless if I couldn't stay elsewhere and it wasn't a required trip. That said, everyone has their own level of tolerance.
Regardless, I hope you're going somewhere fun, and enjoy your time away.

I've had to cancel vacations last minute before (not due to anything like this). :/ Hopefully they're in a situation that they can switch where they are staying if they don't want to cross a picket line. I know she said they can't change plans, but maybe that doesn't include where they are staying.

Yep, currently staying at Westin Seattle (stay started before the strike). I can live with the restaurant being closed, and the Westin either has enough non-union or scabs to keep housekeeping going, but so help me God, if I find the union worker blaring the police siren at 4 am like they did last night...
The general attitude of the customers in the area seems to be annoyance, and the general attitude of the union workers seems to be entitlement (basing this on their signs, shirts and things they shout at customers).
Very glad to be going home tomorrow, because even pre-strike, the customer service in Seattle (hotel, restaurant, airport, etc.) this trip has been really, really bad. I told DH we won't be returning for a very long time, if ever.

We can’t really change where we are staying. We booked via our timeshare and since the hotel is not going to be closed they won’t refund points or allow a change this close to our day. We are also traveling with friends who can’t change airfare.

Sorry about your stay. Hopefully the strike will have a positive impact on the employees and staffing levels. We are headed to HI and I know the workers there haven’t had a raise since the pandemic. I do believe in their reasons for striking.

No need to mess around like that.

Me either. I’m pretty sure the cats doing donuts in the street are not hotel employees as the alarms may have been. So my DS is not affected by the strike, just asshats with loud cars

I'm sorry you're having such a lousy experience, and a serious no thank you to the middle of the night shenanigans. :/ Regarding the airport, SEA had a major cyber attack a week or so ago and is still reeling from the disruption. Doesn't make up for anything you had to deal with, but just a possible explanation. I hope you enjoy the rest of your trip.

We flew out of SeaTac today…everything was pretty much fine. The only issue we saw was the baggage claim and arrivals/departures signs were not working.

Kid #2 flew off to college the day that happened and their bag got trapped here. My husband was with them, but the airport workers on the other hand assured him the bag had arrived on a later flight and they’d have it delivered to the college. That wasn’t true, and I had to spend a lot of time on the phone to get the bag located and transported. I’m glad I was able to do it by being a persistent sob-story nuisance, but I’m so mad at the cyberattackers!

Seatac was ok. No electronic signs were on and no major delays for us. We checked in yesterday without knowing a single thing about the strike. No restaurants, no housekeeping. Feels like covid all over again. Did not see a picket line, but this morning was extra loud. I was telling DH that we need to look into the why but also the union being loud early in the morning doesn’t help.

We checked into our hotel yesterday. Check in was delayed. We arrived at 1:30 and got our room at 6:30. But we are Hawaii, so I can more than deal with delays. The strike here is for 3 days today is the last day.
Protestors are loud, but we can’t really hear them from our room unless we are on the patio. And around 8:00 pm it was pretty quiet.
They have flown in staff from other islands and brought in people from non-striking Hilton properties. You can tell that staff and guests are a little frayed by everything. But everyone seems to be patient and accepting.
