Good morning and Happy September.
Today dh will be painting, again. At least we're taking a break tmw. I am packed and ready to go tmw. I cooked fajitas last night and that's dinner tonight, too. So, it'll be a quiet day. I will do a bit of tidying and then work on my puzzle.
What's on your menu?
What is everyone up to this week?
Hoping that karenlou is having a ball on her bike and that AussieMeg is enjoying ever second of Thailand.
Wishing everyone a happy, enjoyable, fulfilling and calm week ahead!

Hi all, Quiet day here today. I’ve done a bit more trip planning but think I may hold back on booking anything until we’re a bit closer and we have a better idea of the weather to expect. Other than that, knitting and TV. I am planning to start getting back to a more regular life this week - I am meeting my friend in the city Wednesday as she has another custody/visitation hearing and both her and her daughter want (and need) me there for support.
Dinner tonight is satay pork steaks. I have a home made satay sauce recipe from an old Australian Women’s Weekly cookbook that is so good. You mix all the ingredients, marinate the meat (chicken and pork are equally good), then boil and reduce the marinade to make a thick sauce while you grill the meat. I will probably also cook rice.

Happy Labor Day Monday! Having a quiet morning here. I'll be going up to see DH about noon and will take a needlepoint with me that I started yesterday (another ornament). Loving these small projects - they fit my attention span right now. DH is making great progress on the LTAC floor. They are really pushing him and he is beginning to feel more hopeful now about getting out of there. I also started leaving his phone up there and he has been calling me in the mornings. It's so nice to hear his ringtone now! Tonight dinner will be shrimp that I cook on the griddle and salad. DD is supposed to come over to eat, as well as make a batch of pesto from the basil I harvested before they swapped out my plants. Hope everyone has a great day today! I have been searching for a good satay recipe. Would love to see yours if you want to share it!

sueg, you are such a good friend. You can be the voice of reason and reassurance when your friend is scared. What a horrible situation for those two to have to endure. Enjoy knitting and don't overdo this week. **GypsyGirl**, it must feel good to be actively working twds getting home and healing for both your dh and you. Rather than lying in a bed, he's also taking steps to get back to his family and normal routine. Though there may be a new normal for a bit. My sister does beautiful needlepoint, too. It's her happy place. Glad that you have a hobby that can travel w/you while you sit w/your hubby.

Good morning! We are about an hour from home. Just passed through Grand Rapids. It was sad to go. We had a very nice weekend. I met three women including the shop owner at the yarn store and all of them were awesome. They told me they host a yarn group on Friday mornings and the book store/coffee bar hosts a group of yarnies Wednesday night so they told me to come and make friends when I get there. We went to an open house yesterday. The house was god awful. But the husband and wife realtors were very nice. We were the only people there so we talked to them all about the real estate market there and taxes too. And then they gave us their card and said they'd love to work with us when we decide next summer to start looking for homes. We found the best part of the beach. Not the big public beach but almost at the northern most point of the city. Hardly any people and after 6 pm Saturday night we were the only ones there. We could definitely see ourselves living there. **GypsyGirl** I'm glad to read the update on your husband. Sounds like things are really moving in the right direction. I'll be making black eyed peas and sweet potatoes for dinner tonight. Greens if they are still good. If not I'll find another veggie.

jeremysgirl - So glad the weekend went well for you! It's great when you find a place that you both like and feel comfortable in. Will you be taking early retirement or working remotely?

Yes scrapmaven. We made a plan as to what we start on as far as our house goes when we come back from camping. So we will prepare. It's just such a peaceful place. But I'm still nervous about potentially moving away from Chloe.

Happy Labour Day to all! For those of you who have the day off work, enjoy!
The grandboys are back to school tomorrow. The youngest, going into Jr Kindergarten, doesn’t start until Wednesday as they slowly start a few at a time to get them used to the routine. I will spend the day with him tomorrow while his brothers are at school.
This morning I tried on some bathing suits to find one to take on my cruise. I seriously have not worn a bathing suit in years. I did find one in my stash that fits and doesn’t look half bad! I certainly didn’t want to buy a new one that I will only wear once.
It’s a pleasant 19 degrees here today. I’m going to head out on a walk shortly and then will take Walker after supper.

We are only 49. In no position right now for retirement. I am working remotely. If they force me in two days a week I can just come down Monday morning, work Monday, stay overnight at my MILs, work Tuesday and then go home. But they haven't been forcing anyone in. Jeremy will just get a transfer.

Happy Monday!
My dad is still in the hospital with not what he went in for (pacemaker) but now he has a kidney stone that he's trying to pass. He's on really heavy pain meds and was asleep the whole time we were there. My mom held his hand and he woke up briefly so we could say hi and bye. Afterwards, we went to lunch at PFChangs and will have leftovers for dinner.
Hope you all have a good day!

Happy Labour Day everyone! Today is a wonderful Monday with lots of sun but some cloud. It’s a great day!
Dinner tonight will be shrimp and salad, with plenty of vegetables.
My diet is still going great. I have lots of determination for now and it’s going well. I am not missing bread but would like to try the keto bread I saw advertised. If you know of a good keto/low carb bread please tell me about it.
I am perplexed what to do about clothes to wear. I don’t want to get anything until I lose more weight and all I have are really big clothes that are almost too loose. I will have to figure this out.
I hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Glad to hear such positive progress for your DH, **GypsyGirl**. I have 8 paint color samples taped to the back of the house. Three of four family member have different favorites. Of course, the one I like least is DH's pick but I think he picked it because it is a super big sample. We are going with a dark blue and I think his pick reads as almost a gray/black. I didn't ask for opinions on the office and decided to go with a super pale, barely there aqua. I picked up a new jacket last week which has prompted a clean out of the front closet. What a walk down memory lane. Everything is piled on the stairs waiting for family to pick through their share and I expect a trunk load will be donated this week. I like the rule "if it was bought in the last decade and hasn't been worn this decade" it goes. Three loads of laundry are done and I'll head out to a noon yoga class, then Trader Joe's. DH has a colonoscopy later this week so wants to start eating light. I'm getting back on track with meatless Mondays so a tofu stir fry is the dinner plan. Only undecided part is noodles or rice.

Tearisci , your poor dad. Youch. This is just a cruel thing to have happen to a nice guy who's been through way more than enough. ((((HUGS)))). jeremysgirl , I know that you worry about Chloe, but you will be a hop, skip and a jump from her. Chloe can come visit you and you can easily get to her if she needs you there. Meanwhile, you're both grown women and you must live the life that is best for you. You're not abandoning Chloe. You're making a move to the next phase of your life. If Chloe were a teenager, I'd be upset that you were moving her so far from her friends and school, but she's a woman and she has her own life. Though it's completely different, ods is an hour away. So, you'd be 2 ods's away. That's nuthin'.

I’ve tried to get another Covid vaccine before my trip and there are no vaccines available in my area. Apparently the pharmacies and dr offices will be receiving new vaccines at the end of September, which is too late for my trip.
I talked to one pharmacist who recommended taking a bottle of Zinc with me in case I get sick. He said at the onset of any symptoms, take 50mg, 3 x per day for 5 days. Anyone done this?

leannec do you have any good new restaurants in Calgary? We have a new super popular seafood place that’s hard to get a reservation. There is a new sushi place opening every week and everyone makes the same thing. My dad only wants grocery store quality so it’s junk that we eat. I guess I am just not impressed enough with Asian food. That said if a new European place opened I would be there right away. I cannot say anything if I didn’t mention our brunch culture and it’s world class. We maybe have been dubbed the brunch capital of North America. I have 3 great places right near me in fact. What’s Calgary like?

leannec do you have any good new restaurants in Calgary? They aren't brand new but we have a couple of really popular newish restaurants downtown ... Ten Foot Henry is supposed to be excellent but I haven't been there yet ... Major Tom is so good! I took my dd's there when we had our "Staycation" ... it is on the 40th floor of a building and looks right at the Calgary Tower in one direction ... the views are amazing! I'll admit that I'm usually lazy and stick to the nice chain restaurants in my suburban area ... Earl's, Cactus Club, Joey, The Keg ...

There is a huge homeless population downtown that people who live outside downtown oh en don’t go downtown anymore. It’s really awful. Also I am lazy and don’t want to pay to park. I do have a local Keg that I like. BFF piano teacher and I are going this week. I have to make reservations tonight.

jeremysgirl I have always wondered what kind of temperate the water is there. Do people swim? Anyone use jet ski or wave runner? Or is it mostly a lounging beach? That picture looks so relaxing.
