After they blew up Daniel Craig’s James Bond the hunt has been on for the new James Bond. A name being thrown around is Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Never heard of him. Then found out he had a part in Captain America Age of Ultron. Saw it and thought seriously? He has a bigger part in the Ryan Gosling movie The Fall Guy. Still couldn’t see it. Now I can. He’s at the Venice Film Festival and he cleans up nicely. The other name being tossed around is Henry Cavill. I could see him as James Bond as well but now that I have seen the cleaned up version of Aaron I think I would like him better for the part. Agree or disagree? www.instagram.com/reel/C_WVxffO5kU/?igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==www.instagram.com/reel/C_WGQNGIGwn/?igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

He looks like just any guy to me. But, I wasn't a fan of Daniel Craig until he became Bond so he might be great for the part.
I was hoping for Idris Elba. We could use a whole different Bond. I have noticed that British films and TV have begun to be much more inclusive and there are more and more parts given to Black actors, including in historical dramas and parts that would traditionally only go to white actors. Idris Elba is so polished and aristocratic, I think he'd be fabulous in the role.

I doubt I'd choose him if if I were in charge of casting. But then again, I don't know if I would have chosen Daniel Craig ahead of time, either.

I adore Daniel Craig as Bond so it’s hard to picture anyone else but, yes, if I have to accept a replacement, he looks like he could fit well 😊

But his Luther movies show that he can clearly uphold both the suave sophistication and the fast action hero requirements to play the part. He would be perfect. But he’s said in recent interviews he won’t be doing it. I’m still in favor of it though. Theres a rumor it was offered to Aaron Taylor Johnson and I’m having difficulty envisioning that but I don’t recall any of his roles so I’ll wait to see.

I nominate Rahul Kohli. He was in Midnight Mass and several other Mike Flanagan productions.

I thought Aaron Taylor Johnson had been announced. Not sure what I think. He played a wimpy, egotistical movie star in The Fall Guy. Hope he's just a good actor.

I thought I was announced it would be him as well. The only thing I have seen him in is Bullet Train and he does not seem sophisticated *at all* but.... I mean he was acting and that was a character (tangerine? lemon?).
I would have loved Idris as well, and yes, he has said firmly he would not do it, I think he said he felt he was too old?

I think the Aaron guy would make a better Bond than Henry Cavill.

I wish they'd choose Idris Elba but I'm fine with Aaron Taylor Johnson. He was in Avengers Age of Ultron and he was also in Godzilla. There's a lot being said about the age difference between him and his wife. I wish they'd just shut up about it. They don't make continuous comments when a guy has a younger wife. I'm over the double standard.

Henry Cavil wouldn't last more than one movie. He has a horrible reputation as being extremely difficult to work with.

I don’t see it.
But, definitely not Cavil! I haven’t watched much beyond a couple of episodes of Witcher because I don’t care for Cavil.

He’s okay. Maybe I’m the outlier but I wasn’t a huge fan of Daniel Craig in that role. My favorite Bond was Pierce Brosnan though.

I hate Bond movies so I'm not at all invested but Taylor-Johnson is not the one imo.

I was watching Clooney and Pitt at the Venice Film Festival yesterday and the term “smooth operators” popped into the noggin,
All the previous Bonds could be called “smooth operators” IMO.
The way they ended Craig’s days as Bond makes me think they are going back to the early days of Bond. Aaron is in his early 30’s. And rather than a “smooth operator” this Bond will be a bit more rakish for lack of a better word. I can’t see this guy as a s “mooth operator but I can see him as being rakish.
Kind of like this “dashingly or carelessly unconventional”
