Happy Wednesday, tribe! Since Monday was a holiday it will mess with me all week! Our lovely scrapmaven and Mr. Maven are off on their getaway ~ here’s wishing them a fabulous time! lucyg , happy whale watching! scrappintoee, it was great seeing you on the other thread yesterday. I know you are still having a horrible time with pain and grief but please visit us when you can. We all love you! Tearisci I hope your dad got to go home. teddyw I hope you continue to avoid Covid. AussieMeg , I hope you’re feeling better ~ I’m sorry the last part of your vacation was ruined for you. karenlou , your trip sounds fabulous ~ well, except for the part about getting to Paris. Oh my! jeremysgirl , I hope you've recovered from all your meetings yesterday. I’m going swimming again this morning. She worked us hard yesterday. Every exercise was moving back and forth across the pool. We had to make sure we didn’t run into anyone when we were going backwards! It's going to be 101° today. I have Hand and Foot this afternoon and dinner will be Teriyaki Chicken. I hope everyone has a great day and I’m sending big hugs to all!

Good afternoon, Today has been a long day for me. I was up early as I had to ge out of the house at 7:30am to meet my friend before her Family Court hearing. I got into the city nice and early and was able to scope out the court building - we were checking on entrances and exits, just in case her ex turned up and tried to cause trouble. After a look around, I found a place to have breakfast where I could see the only entrance and waited there. All went well -ex didn’t show, the lawyer for friend’s daughter was kind and friendly and the hearing (closed session, only child, lawyer and judge allowed) lasted about 20 minutes, then we sat and chatted for a bit before setting off in different directions with a plan to meet for lunch. So now I am home and exhausted, but glad I was able to help my friend and her daughter.
DH is out with his team for dinner - a wrap up for the hectic week and weekend they’ve had - so I am going to eat the leftover satay pork from Monday. I will also make salad, as there are no vegetables left.
I hope everyone has a great day

Good morning ! lucyg enjoy your getaway ! It's a pretty quiet day for me. It's still pouring so it's a great day to watch some movies and work on my puzzle. For dinner we are having a ribeye steak with sauteed mushrooms and onions, sweet potato and steamed broccoli.

DH and I just got back from a bike ride close to home. We rode 20 km on the side roads around our small town.
The grand boys had a great first day of school yesterday and #3 started today. I’m anxious to see how his day went later this afternoon when he gets home. He doesn’t go tomorrow (again part of the small group integration for JK) so I’ll spend the day with him again.
We decided to have take out pizza last night for supper so tonight will be grilled pork chops. I’m walking with my bestie after supper.

We will be off on our little getaway shortly. I hope you have a fabulous time. I hope scrapmaven is living it up to on her trip. I survived my meetings yesterday. It was kind of a shitshow at work. I'll spare you the details. When I got done working, I was mentally fried. I pulled out my Halloween decorations and decorated the inside of my house. I'll do the outside when we get back from camping. We are just having rechauffe tacos for dinner tonight. I had a meeting scheduled at 4 pm and I was up at 3 today. I went to use the bathroom and my kitty thought that meant it was time to get up. So she did not let me go back to sleep. I'm tired. I might be off board the rest of the day today. I only have so much mental space today and it's worse because of my lack of sleep.

Happy Wednesday! I am home today enjoying this beautiful day. I drove in to town to a local park and walked. It was nice and quiet. I really enjoyed the change of scenery. I don't really have any other plans for the rest of the day. I have another book I want to read so I will probably sit out on the back porch and start it. lucyg have a fabulous trip. AussieMeg that sounds like a terrible way to end your trip. Glad you are feeling better. DH and I are taking FIL out for dinner tonight. He is struggling mentally. He feels guilty about having to leave MIL in the nursing home. There is no way she can ever come home. She is falling almost every day and her dementia is getting so much worse. He says the evenings at home alone are so lonely so we have ben having him over or taking him out once a week. Have a fabulous day my pea friends!

Happy Wednesday!
It's a dreary day here in DFW but we really need the rain so I'm not complaining.
My dad didn't get to come home from the hospital yesterday but he has passed the stone so that's good. I'm going to head up there this afternoon and see if he can come home today. He's been really nauseous and doesn't want to eat anything because he is afraid of throwing up. Poor guy. We're thinking that maybe going to rehab to build his strength back up might be an option but we'll see how today goes. Thanks everyone for your good thoughts and wishes!
I had Indian last night and will have it again for lunch. I have a grocery order ready to go but I haven't purchased it yet because my schedule is so up in the air. I have no clue for dinner but will probably eat over at my sisters.
Hope you all have a great day!

have fun at your swim class, I'm admire your drive! Thanks! I enjoy it so much I hate to miss. It was wonderful today because a lot of people skipped the class since they went yesterday. We have a variety of instructors so no 2 days are the same.

Thanks for starting the thread cadoodlebug! Have so much fun on your getaways scrapmaven and lucyg! I am sooooo sleepy today ... I was up and down all night (as usual) and I just have no energy today ... luckily, I'm not working and I don't have anything specific to do ... I will probably spend the day on the couch watching Youtube and Netflix and dozing. Dinner is up in the air ... I should cook so it will probably be the shrimp and noodles I didn't make last night

You are a great friend to be there for the court hearing, sueg. stormsts, is your FIL still in the family home? Would he consider a senior living residence? Without a doubt he will find others in the same situation which might help him through the guilt & loneliness. I can't believe it took me so long to finally make funeral sandwiches after learning about them here years ago. DH & DS could not stop eating them last night and DS had a couple for breakfast. We are having an easy tomato/spinach pasta tonight. Happy travels, scrapmaven and lucyg!

stormsts, is your FIL still in the family home? Would he consider a senior living residence? Without a doubt he will find others in the same situation which might help him through the guilt & loneliness. My FIL is still in their house. It is part of the family farm. He says he will die there. He goes and checks on the cows daily and "helps" two of his sons that still live and farm there. This is all still fairly new. MIL fell back in April and broke her elbow. She went straight from the hospital to the nursing home. He has just recently admitted that she will not come home. He had been talking about renovating the house for her wheelchair but after many discussions with him he now realizes he can't take care of her. Luckily, they have 5 children that all live fairly close so there are lots of visitors for MIL and most of us try to take him to do things.

I am going out for the family birthday dinner tonight.. it has been at least 10 yrs since my twins were actually in the same town anywhere near their birthday (they were not this year on the actual day either). one kid chose an eastern european place.. so off we go. that dd is going to dentist for teeth cleaning and mouth guard this afternoon, her wife is off to the mission to shop and everyone will meet for dinner.
so I'm off the hook. they only have one day tomorrow with us before they fly back. I'm enjoying not cooking.
back to the gym next week, when if I did catch covid, it would not be such a disaster.

I have been having such a productive (and painless) day!! I think the steroid shot has kicked in as well as the other meds I am taking. Better living through chemistry!!! I've been working away all day in the office. I am getting so much accomplished, and it feels great!!! I got some new fabric in the mail yesterday and I can wait to cut out my next quilt but, I also want to watch The Good Wife!! Decisions, decisions!! Glad to hear that the scrapmaven s made it on their trip. I hope they are having fun!! AussieMeg what the heck??? How do you think you caught that illness? I glad to hear that you are feeling better!! stormsts I feel for you and your family. It sucks when a family member's health declines and you have to figure out what to do from there. Why can't stuff just stay the same.

Thank you, sweet cadoodlebug ! I still talk about about that adora-bull card you made me when Sophie died (and all the other sweet cards many of you sent!) I'm sending good thoughts to everyone who's sick, struggling with anything, and/or has family members who are.
Today I woke up and I swear almost every joint in my body was screaming---it's a combo of the way I slept, AND rain is coming. I have *horrific* headaces before it rains. The other day, I had THREE headaches through the day. By the third one, I was in tears. ** Eta: apologies---THIS is why I don't post anymore---constant pain just takes over everything sometimes. I hate being so self-centered! Doodlebug---glad you love the aquafit! I recently forced myself to start swimming laps/ water-walking again. I LOVED it in the past, and it's one of the best things I can do for pain. Sadly, I was in much MORE pain afterwards. Also, the locker room was NOT very disabled-friendly. But I WILL go back again as soon as I can.

I glad to hear that you are feeling better!! That's great news that the steroid shot has kicked in, and you are not in pain. You sound very excited about it! Dengue fever is caused by a mozzie bite. We didn't really see many mozzies at all, but I guess it only takes one. You know that feeling when you're really hungry, but the through of actually eating anything makes you feel sick? That's how I am feeling. DSO ended up making me some Vegemite toast just before he went to bed at 9:30pm. Exciting dinner hey?! But at least I finally got something other than tea and water into me. Oh, and I haven't had a coffee since Saturday! That's when you know I'm not well, if I can't have coffee.

I iced my limbs, took meds, and forced myself into the kitchen (I still LOVE to cook!) and made DH and I a bunch of roasted veggies and chicken--we both love it and will eat it for a few days. We've been eating too much frozen stuff---I hate that the sodium is sky-high, plus---so much of it is just mediocre tasting. **GypsyGirl** ---SOOO happy that your DH is progressing so well! I often think about how difficult this has been for you! (obviously, horrible for him to be so sick for so long)---but I just think I'd break if I had to witness my DH going through this. But I'm also an overly-emotional wreck and a former nurse who sometimes worried more about my patients/their families more than they worried. ** Everyone dealing with sick parents----(( hugs )). I know how difficult it is, and I am still haunted by the decisions we had to make for my Dad. I also still cry about the time we had to talk to him about not driving anymore---that almost killed me. He was always active, loved to travel, ski, play tennis (into his eighties), and I still cry for him that it all went away. Then during Covid, he couldn't see his dear friends or grandchildren. He wanted so badly to go to Spain with his friends soon before he died, and it breaks my heart that he didn't get to go. AussieMeg --- "mozzie" is such a cute word! I googled dengue fever and it sounds horrible! Hope you're better soon!! The Birdhouse Lady ---I am SO bummed for you for needing another surgery! So glad the steroid shot helped! I had one a couple weeks ago, and it did NOTHING.

Ha! I usually try not to use Aussie slang or diminutives on this board, but every now and then one slips through! I don't think I have ever used the word 'mosquito' in my life - everyone says 'mozzie' here.

scrappintoee , I'm thrilled to see you here. As a chronic pain patient I live every second in pain. Sometimes it's excruciating and sometimes it's not so bad. Yet I have a good life. I'm going to write more tmw, because it's time for a pep talk. You are very loved here. Please stay. Had a great day. End result is I'm going to buy a new camera at home. I'll give deets tmw. BTW, scrappintoee I'm in a lot of pain, but I chose to focus on having fun. It doesn't mean I don't feel bad. It just means that I have created a habit of living as well as I can. It takes work and ongoing therapy to be me. There. That's my pep talk/lecture. Now go give yourself a hug from me.
