abc7.com/post/new-2024-covid-19-vaccine-longer-free-insurance-shots-could-cost-200/15267505/COVID shots no longer free for uninsured, could cost up to $200 WASHINGTON -- The latest batch of COVID shots are out, but be prepared to pay up if you don't have health insurance. That's because the federal program that covered the cost of the vaccines for uninsured and underinsured people ran out of funding. The federal bridge access program was set to end this December, but it expired early because of a move by Congress. They rescinded $6.1 billion in COVID emergency spending as part of a deal to avoid a government shutdown. Congress also blocked a Biden administration proposal that would provide free immunizations. Now, the roughly 25 million Americans who are without health insurance will pay up to $200 for the shots. Pfizer and Moderna said free vaccines would be available through a patient assistance program, but it's still unclear who would qualify for the free shots. Private insurers, Medicare and Medicaid are still required to pay for COVID vaccines.

Free immunizations were blocked.
Gotta keep the for profit healthcare companies and US medical flowing with money. I mean who needs free vaccines right?! When we can treat vaccine covered diseases at top dollar and make money.
Sigh.
Hopefully counties or states are able to bridge the gap for uninsured or underinsured persons.
If a person has no insurance, $200 won't be easy to come by most likely.
And I laugh at the 2 vaccines pharmacies when they said they may help. Please. We never qualified for help with ds sildenafil because it wasn't being used to get an erection but for its original intended reason...PH.

I hate our healthcare system. It's all about profits over people.

I can’t imagine an uninsured person being able to afford $200 so they will pass on it. My husband is getting it next Monday. I’m thankful that it’s free with our insurance.
