Because I am so tired of reading about the worst of human nature. Here's my contribution, Travellers are a marginalised group and many particularly the girls leave school at a very early age, so I was so very pleased to see this news. THE Thomas McCann has become became the first male Traveller in Ireland to graduate with a PhD, having been conferred with the doctorate at a ceremony at Maynooth University (MU) this afternoon. Five Traveller undergraduate students also received their Bachelor of Social Science, Community and Youth Work degrees. Dr McCann is a long-time Traveller advocate and Director of the Traveller Counselling Service. His PhD focused on work undertaken to support the Traveller community, and its struggle for human rights in Ireland. More in link www.rte.ie/news/ireland/2024/0904/1468276-thomas-mccann/

I read this morning that the plant portion of potatoes is toxic and so it cannot be consumed by livestock. So farmers for years have been incinerating this portion of the vegetables. Well now apparently they are exploring ways to make fiber out of it. So we may have a more sustainable replacement for cotton. Cotton is a huge suck of water. Though natural fiber, it is not environmentally friendly. Potato fiber might help be a solution for the garment industry. It might also transfer over to fiber arts too.

This is just a very small local story about a stray dog that had a bucket stuck on his head and people trying to save him. There are good people out there just doing small little good deeds day in and day out. Stray dog with bucket on his head found
ETA - I think I misunderstood the assignment. I thought it was just a little feel good story wanted not actual change or real good news. Sorry. But I am leaving Bucky the dog’s story up anyway because I am happy he was found and saved. 😄😆

OOPS! This isn’t news. I read it wrong. Sorry!
I received a message from a lady (someone I do not know) that said she saw my polymer clay flamingo earrings on a friend of mine at Disney World, and my friend directed her to my page. She messaged me, and is purchasing two pair of earrings.
I love that my pretties have been spotted out in the wild. How cool is that?!?!?

And in the crazy busy wild, not like those were the only earrings dangling off someone’s ear. I think that is extremely cool. Congrats, when your item is spotted in a Disney crowd and you get an order I think you can say you have ‘made it’. 😆👍

So many performers and athletes do such wonderful things for their communities and don't ever get (or take) the credit.

Today I spotted this story, a primary school in Devon is out of commission because of flooding last year. The children are getting to spend the first term of this school year learning in a castle. That will be an experience to remember www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c20ljd3g57eo

I don't have big good news but today when I went into the "How You Brewin'" near my house there was a pay-it-forward bulletin board for folks to leave tickets for others to get free coffees and the board was covered with the tickets. I couldn't help but smile thinking about all the people who were happy to buy someone a coffee.

Here is a good news story that could have ended very differently, but with the assistance of technology, had a very happy ending.
At 8:45 p.m., August 25, police received a frantic call for help. A 3-year old Wisconsin boy wandered away from his family’s farm home, which is surrounded by 100 acres of cornfields. The corn was dense and had grown to 6 ft tall. The child was last seen at 7:30 p.m. The police arrived and began searching all of the barns and out buildings for the child. They began looking in the dense cornfields, but it was not going to be easy. Police contacted the fire department for assistance.
The police contacted the Fond du Lac Police Department Technology Response Group, who sent out a thermal drone to try to locate the child inside the cornfields by his heat signature. At 9:30 p.m., the drone operator located a heat signature and began guiding the police into the cornfields toward the white object. The little boy had walked 1/2 mile into the cornfield by the time he was located. The boy had been playing with his cat and followed it into the cornfields. The police said without the assistance of that drone, it would have taken hours to comb through the fields looking for the boy and said there could have been a different outcome.
