We had always done Moderna but the health department only had Pfizer last year so that is what we did. I don't think it matters.

I've mixed them up several times. It doesn't make any difference.

I just asked my pharmacist this two days ago when I got my covid booster. lol. I've always gotten Moderna, and that's what I got this week. But when they first came in stock the pharmacy website only listed Pfizer. I had planned to call and ask but then got sidetracked. Then when I went back to the registration website to double-check I saw Moderna listed, so I went with that. But I asked her when I was getting my shot and she said it doesn't matter, more important is just to get one.

Immunologist said to stick with the same one.
I am the only one who had to change due to a severe reaction to the Pfizer one. I will now be getting my 3rd Moderna vaccine next week.
I was the sickest out of the 4 of us when we finally came down with Covid is Feb. Not sure if that was why or not.

I always got Pfizer until last year's booster. I normally get sick for about 24 hours after receiving the shot. They only had Moderna last year so I figured why not try it! I did get sick and while taking a nap, my watch alerted me to a high heart rate. I don't think I will be taking Moderna this time around.

DH not so much. I've always said they are giving me the same amount as DH and he weighs twice as much! I wonder if that's why I have more bad reactions. Did you have a reaction/side affects?

With Moderna I didn't have any bone pain. I also wasn't as tired and have a mild headache. Was good the next day.
It is a half of the dose of Pfizer and one of the reasons allergy immunology said to try it over Pfizer due to severe reaction.
Dd had really bad bone pain this time with Pfizer. As well as muscle pain.
Dh and ds go this weekend so will see how they do.

The only one I've ever had a reaction to, beyond a mildly sore arm, was the very first one when the vaccines first came out. I had sort of mild flu-like symptoms. But after that, nothing. And I've had every booster that has come out, all Moderna.

Just make sure you get the one that includes the most recent variant. The one going around right now is not pleasant.

I just got the newest booster on Wednesday around 12:30 PM. i have always had a reaction / side effects, I honestly think this was the worst. I'm fine this morning, finally but yesterday I started feeling very tired around noon and by 6:00 PM I was very achy, felt like I had the flu. I took Ibuprofen and went to bed at 8:30- woke up at midnight and took more Ibuprofen, slept until 7:00 this morning, woke up feeling great!

I always get the Moderna. My pharmacy gives a choice, so I just stick with it.
I was recently surprised to see that only 22% of adult Americans have kept up with their Covid boosters. My friends and I still do, however we're all mostly in our 50's, 60's and some 70's so that may be it. Now I wonder what the stats are for folks who keep up with the annual flu vaccine. I'll have to google.
ETA: according to the CDC, during the 2021-22 season, "Overall, among adults ≥18 years, flu vaccination coverage was 49.4%." That's a whole lot higher than for Covid vaccines!

I had no idea that people were still getting Covid boosters. That surprises me! I'm guessing you don't watch, read, or listen to news regularly, or have an annual physical exam? Or it is possibly the area in which you live?

I had no idea that people were still getting Covid boosters. Yeah, people still get them. Yearly. Some 2x a year (like my parents who are over 75). Covid changes and the yearly vaccine targets the current strain just like the flu vaccine. Not sure why you had no idea that people take care of themselves and their community.

Before 2019 the only flu vaccine I ever got was for H1N1. Never had the flu so never decided to get the vaccine. But when DD was diagnosed with her Primary Immunodeficiency, dh, ds, and I began to get them to protect her because she was extremely high risk. If she didn't have a PIDD, we probably would still skip it. Though was it 2020 when there was the bad flu Covid combo. That may have done it. But yeah, dd and I had H1N1 really bad even with the vaccine. We both should have been in the hospital but there was no where to go. They looked all over southern CA. No space. And our trauma 1 Uni hospital has tents to keep possible H1N1 patients there and allow everyone else to be inside the main ER lobby for treatment. Our district was closed for a week as was dh's.

Other than the fact it has been around longer, and it is less political, I think more people get the flu shot because it is offered in more places. I get my flu shot at work. They have people come in on maybe two different days, and we can get our shot without having to make a trip to a clinic/doctor’s office/ drugstore. Work does not offer the Covid boosters. ETA - Our workplace has offered the flu shot for a number of years now, but before they did, I never got the shot. I rarely got the flu, so I never got the shot. But since it is at the office, and free, I said why not. And I’ve been getting the shot ever since.

I know a lot of people will get the flu shot but many won’t get the Covid one because they are afraid of side effects even though they are rare. My MIL has decided she won’t get any more because it can change your DNA she saw something on YouTube and the developer won’t even get one or something like that 🤦♀️ I know that’s not true and she is really high risk. She also heard it has I can’t remember what she called it which just meant it came from another person but she is convinced it’s some diabolical ingredients or alien sonething or some such thing I can’t remember and I don’t want to hear all about how horrible it is. I just can’t. She took it until last year. I assume her daughter told her this as she is really into conspiracies and a MAGA my MIL swears she isn’t but she listens to the daughter. She also takes care of her grandson before and after school and helps him with his homework so will probably get it this year. She has lupus and immune compromised but there is nothing we can do I worry about her. She did get her Shingles shot and had her flu and pneumonia shot last year I assume she will still get those. My husband is getting his Covid shot on Monday. I’m waiting until they have it closer to us.
