Lexica ......It's great that you figured out WHY you couldn't get a delivery time! I would never have thought of that. I'm on my way to the dentist----yippeee!!! Also hoping my joints can handle going to look at Halloween decorations. I LOVE Fall , Halloween, and winter sooo much! I absolutely *HATE* summer, and so happy it's almost over! I have more than enough decorations, so I just love to LOOK. jeremysgirl ---You mentioned all the fun Halloween stuff at JoAnn's recently, and how you also don't NEED more stuff, but couldn't resist. . Wellll, I watched a youtube vid from a FUN Halloween enthusiast, and the stuff at JoAnn's was soooo cool! I would love to get the velvet skeletons in fun colors, and there's a bright green alien skeleton that is SO fun! scrapmaven ---I read what you said yesterday, and we have talked about this many times. I am truly happy for you that you still do fun activities and always focus on the positives even though you are in pain 24/7 and have many medical issues on top of that. I have tried MANY times to do fun things, I try to focus on and be THANKFUL for ALL of the wonderful parts of my life, etc. but sometimes the pain overtakes everything. I also think since we have very different personalities, that's a huge factor. I WISH I could be more like you in dealing with your pain/ illnesses. And your attitude about cooking and not being able to eat amazes me! I'm also happy for you that you've dealt healthfully with your very traumatic childhood. I've seen therapists before, and I recently tried to find a new one. Both did NOT work well for me, and I'm too exhausted to try yet another one. Perhaps I could try again, and get help with dealing with my pain and hopelessness better. You've also said before that you're not a crier. I WISH I wasn't ! But the other day, when my THIRD horrific headache of the day started (damn RAIN!), it was so unbearable, plus, my hips and ankles and thumb ?*?* (who knew a THUMB could be so painful ?!??!) everything hurt so badly, the tears just flowed. Thank goodness my DH is so kind and empathetic; and gives the best massages with my verrrry powerful turbo-engine massager----he also makes me LAUGH, and he has Beatrice so funny things to make me laugh. He moves her cute wittle paws to seem like they're massaging me. But I also feel like a burden to him. I LOVE road trips, and have tried to figure out ways to go to the beach (or ANYWHERE!) with DH, but honestly, it would be a disaster for soooo many reasons---(more than just my pain). We also reallllllly want to go on a cruise / go to England/ drive the Pacific Highway in California !!!!!! Maybeee someday !!!!!

They've still got a couple of hours to go but they are just kind of blah. I figured with the gravy mix that they're in, that they would be better. Plus I covered them in powdered ranch dressing and garlic powder. Lesson learned! It's not you, me, or The Birdhouse Lady! Pork chops a bitch to cook. leannec must be magic. LOL!

I am the queen of turning pork chops into shoe leather. I've tried multiple recipes. I guess I just don't really like pork chops! They've still got a couple of hours to go but they are just kind of blah. I figured with the gravy mix that they're in, that they would be better. Plus I covered them in powdered ranch dressing and garlic powder. Lesson learned! My childhood comfort food "recipe" is two cans of cream of mushroom soup and a bunch of sliced mushrooms ... used to be canned but now it is fresh ... simmer forever and boom ... pork chops in mushroom sauce! Serve with rice. My mum wants me to make this soon ... I'm leery!

I am not feeling as chipper today as I was yesterday. But I am still getting stuff done! I need to get some groceries today and make a proper dinner. Last night we had sausage, eggs and fruit. My husband has been working so hard and hasn't been home much. I want to make him a "man dinner" tonight. What, I don't know! Welcome Lexica !!! This is my favorite place on the board and I feel like these ladies are some of my closest friends! Tearisci so glad to hear that your dad made it home!!! Will he drink a protein smoothie? It would give him some nutrition, be easy to drink, and probably really taste good! scrappintoee I'm sorry the steroid shot didn't work for you. I was afraid of that for myself too. I have heard from so many people that they don't work. I was desperate and decided to give it a try. Thankfully it has taken the edge off things. I am also taking a medication for nerve pain so that may also contributed to feeling better.

I was going to share with my parents but my poor dad doesn't have any teeth and he would not be able to eat these. I'm going to order in for them instead I think. Oh well!

scrappintoee I decorated indoors on Tuesday. I will save my outdoor set up for when I come back from camping. I bought the Fiestaware Halloween plates on sale this summer. So this was the first year I'd been able to set my table with them. So fun. And I've been to Joann's a million times. Bought too much. 😂

Hi friends!
I made pork chops last week in the slow cooker and thought they turned out well. I loosely followed this recipe (https://thesaltymarshmallow.com/slow-cooker-pork-chops/) but coated mine in Italian breadcrumbs since I couldn't find the ranch powder, and used 2 envelopes of brown gravy, a carton of beef broth, and 2 cans of cream of mushroom. Just threw them in on top of the gravy+broth+mushroom soup combo on low for a few hours. They were also thinly sliced, so they didn't take too long to cook and DH loved the gravy.
My sinus CT scan and dentist appointments are scheduled for tomorrow, so I am leaning toward just taking the day off again. I also scheduled an oil change, tire rotation, and safety inspection for the 'ru because we're planning on taking a few trips up and down the highway soon.
I need to also figure out what we're doing for dinner next week...

This has been a difficult week...Prior to my trip my Gracie Girl was not doing well, I specifically said to DH if something happens while I am gone D0 Not tell me. Sadly we had to say good by to her today. She was just 12 2 weeks ago, although she was a rescue...so not sure of her exact BD. She was such a sweet loving girl...who knew she came from being abandoned to have a loving home with a nice comfy sofa to sleep on. It has been an emotional day😢😢
I did get salmon to cook for dinner ...however neither of us feels like eating...so not sure we will have dinner

karenlou. So sorry Lexica welcome! My mom used to make pork chops all the time, but I’m pretty sure she baked them in the oven. I know I found a brine for them and I almost think it was somebody here that posted it. And it produced the most deliciously moist pork chops that I’ve had in a long time. I’ll see if I can find it. Probably gonna have a salad for dinner. My mom and I went out for lunch today and it was really good but I’m still not hungry

karenlou I’m so sorry about your sweet dog. My niece and my brother’s vet never let him be without a dog. Always elderly adoptions. He has 1 right now that is so sweet but she looks like death. It’s a shitz zhu with 1 tooth left and she’s blind and can barely walk. His other dog keeps her going. Take care of yourself. ❤️ My kids tease me all the time about pork chops. I hate them and most of you know my dh has always traveled for work. Even when our kids were babies. So for my birthday 1 year I made them because it’s all we had. Dh was gone and I wasn’t eating. My girls were concerned and asked why. I burst out laughing and said because I hate them. They tease me every couple of months about it. scrappintoee I wish you could get some better pain control. I feel like the steroid shots usually work once for people then not again. I think a non-narcotic pain control is almost ready for release. I’ll try to find some info for you.

My mom used to make us pork chops all the time and they were excellent. She did insist on making sure they were well cooked. Not dry and awful, but definitely well cooked. I haven’t had them since I was a child. Seeing everyone talk about them made me remember this photo from Reddit. My son used to make this amazing pork roast with a blueberry sauce that was incredible! He served it over cauliflower purée. I told him I would pay for the ingredients any time he felt like making it. I had intended to get the recipe, but didn’t get to it before I moved. And my favorite tacos from Chipotle have always been the carnitas. Seeing this photo, I am not sure I will ever eat pork again. This is the explanation over the photo: CT scan showing patient's legs filled with cysts caused by a parasitic infection from eating undercooked pork. The infection, known as cysticercosis, is caused by ingesting larval cysts of the pork tapeworm, Taenia solium. IMG_0067.webp (22.52 KB) Thank you, Mom, for cooking those pork chops so thoroughly!

So, coming back to review my pork chop dish for jeremysgirl. Overall, it wasn't bad. I'm just not a fan of slow cooked meat. I don't like the texture but it was more tender than when I tasted it earlier. The gravy was really flavorful and I enjoyed it quite a bit. I won't post the link because rymeswithpurple posted it earlier. I don't think I'll make it again but it wasn't horrible

I miss having several Trader Joe’s nearby. I have picked up some nice wines there in the past. I don't drink wine but keep several bottles of TJ Rain Cloud on hand. DH and DS both say it's a great inexpensive red. This is from me not Jeremysgirl. My quote feature has been screwing up! I use the McCormack's Pork Chops in a bag seasoning mix. First I rinse and pat dry the chops ~ they're from Costco so they are fairly thick, just about an inch. Then I sprinkle baking soda liberally all over both sides and let them rest for about 20 minutes. Rinse off and put into the bag, coating both sides. Bake them for about 15 minutes and they generally come out great. karenlou, I'm so sorry you had to say good-bye to your sweet Gracie. Everyone who has lost a beloved pet knows the pain you are in. Big hugs.

Through all this vegan eating, I can honestly say that I would happily live the rest of my life without chicken. I had some fried chicken this weekend and I really realized how flavorless it really is. Pork chops are similar to me. With that said, I will also put forth that red kidney beans are the absolute worst of all the beans...trump that. 😂

jeremysgirl ......Oh WOW! Your decorations are SOO fun! I NEED those plates....time to google! I know you don't watch TV or movies, so you may not enjoy you-tube vids, either....BUT....I thought you might appreciate this! I LOVE what she did to Micheal's "60's Groovy" collection! (this is some of the most unique, CUTE Halloween stuff I've ever seen, but am not going to get any....I have enough!) The ghost snow-globe she made is soooo cute! I might try to make it. I do A LOT of fast-forwarding----I hate it when crafters are overly chatty,
plus, I don't need to see every.single.step. of their process!

I wish you could get some better pain control. I feel like the steroid shots usually work once for people then not again. I think a non-narcotic pain control is almost ready for release. I’ll try to find some info for you. Thank you, teddyw ! A new med is promising! My doc has me on Tramadol, which--as a nurse, you know---is a quasi-narcotic? It's confusing because it's NOT an actual narcotic, yet it kind of is.... . (I forget the correct terminology). It's a very limited amount, and I have to show ID to pick it up. It helps a littttle. I also take Tylenol Arthritis, and a supplement called Kratom. I'm also SO GRATEFUL for my TENS unit, massages, ice packs / heating pad !!!!! I recently got an ice cap that I put on as soon as a headache starts----I love that it covers my entire head, and even though I hate that way it pulls my hair, it is AWESOME! 2 different docs had me on a high-dose NSAID---can't remember the name, but I was so afraid of a GI-bleed, PLUS, the risk of stroke/heart attack. Once in a while when the pain is unbearable, I take two Aleves/Motrin----it helps! I'd take it around-the-clock if it wasn't so dangerous. Also have me on a prescription cream called Diclofenac. Since the cream doesn't affect you systemically, I sometimes use it. I don't think it helps pain as much as taking a PO NSAID.

Hmmm.....y'all are making me crave pork chops! I realize some ( or MOST? ) of you may hate to use processed ingredients, but---Shake N' Bake has the most YUMMY coating, and pork chops always come out PERFECT !!!!! I've tried other yummy-looking recipes, and they never work out, so I stick to good ole Shake N' Bake. I also tried other brands that mimic Shake N' Bake, but they don't taste as yummy to me. **Anyone remember the Shake N Bake commercial " AND I HELPED!"

I'm leery! That sounds yummy! My Mom made the yummiest porkchops with rice covered in tomato soup. I've tried to make it, but like many yummies my Mom made, it never tasted right. Same with her "famous" cheesecake----I just cannot get it to taste the same, and I've tried MANY times.
