I haven't been able to eat bacon for about two years ... used to love it - now no way! They are a staple in my chili ... along with black beans! . Frankly, they all taste like mush to me! I only put black beans in my chili. I love black beans. We don’t eat anything but fresh green or yellow beans. I don’t even know if they count as the same kind of bean. I find the more meals I have had with beans the more I love them. I have only maybe had 4 kinds in my life but I love them all.

Clean out the fridge night was a success. Onion, carrots, a bunch of Tuscan kale. Some great northern beans and pearl barley. And then a little African pepper spice mix.

I am having 5 vegetables and some sort of meat. It could be ribs. I have some to cook. The dog is on a bland diet of chicken, rice, ground beef and cottage cheese and unsweetened plain yoghurt. He ate 2x today and seems better. He had 2 accidents in the night after we had go e outside. I am babying him even more. Point of contact leads to the groomer on Tuesday.
I have a mammogram at 9 pm. (I had an MRI at 10:30pm once. It’s kind of weird and I am not going alone. )

That is where you would find the other kind of beans ...

Instead of a fend for yourself night I grilled pork chops. You all are definitely an influence - not sure if it is good or bad. Boneless pork chops were on sale where I stopped after dropping DH off for his procedure (all good which we expected but needed to get through to go onto another level of testing). I hadn't planned to buy them because I'm not a big fan and DH prefers all his meat on the bone. I grilled them for 5-7 minutes each side and they were perfect. It is nice that your girls celebrated their birthday together this year, ntsf.

With that said, I will also put forth that red kidney beans are the absolute worst of all the beans. Oh I hate kidney beans. I'm not a huge fan of beans in general...probably due to all rice and beans & beans and rice I made (and ate) when my kids were small and we were broke - but kidney beans (and lima beans) are the only ones I absolutely won't eat. karenlou - I'm so very sorry. (((Hugs)))

Wow, I know I'm late to the table when the thread is already at three pages!! (It could also be the fact that it is 12:30pm and I have only just got out of bed. ) Tearisci I'm so glad that your dad is back home! Wonderful news. jeremysgirl your table looks amazing, I love it so much! And your Halloween Fiesta plates are the bomb! karenlou I am really sorry about your Gracie Girl. That's just too sad. How lucky she was to have been rescued by you all those years ago. I decided that I was up to cooking dinner last night. We had some cooked chicken that needed to be used, so I thought I'd make chicken mornay. I was taking the chicken off the bones, and started feeling really sick, so DSO took over. I managed to do the rest, then when it was cooked I just couldn't stomach it. When DSO had gone out earlier to get some milk and cream, he also bought me a box of Froot Loops, because the day before I'd mentioned that I was craving them. I managed to happily eat a bowl of Froot Loops for dinner!

karenlou I'm so very sorry for the loss of your precious Gracie. They are such precious gifts. Regarding pork chops years ago I watched a show by Lidia Bastianich and she made the best pork chops. I recorded it and jotted the instructions and loved it. Haven't made it in years I hope I can find the e recipe. I tend to make pork tenderloins. I may have to go to Sprouts and buy some thick chops and try to make it again. Tonight was tri-tip, jasmine rice, grilled tomatoes and roasted green beans both from the garden.

Welcome Lexica. Pull up a chair and have fun here. scrappintoee, I will stop lecturing. Just know that I want you to havea happy life. In my case, therapy is the reason I've survived thus far. That doesn't mean that everyone is like me. (HUGS). karenlou, my heart is sad for your loss. You're in my heart. I wasn't raised with pork for obvious reasons, but ham was served a couple times. At a cocktail party my father ate undercooked sausage and subsequently had trichinosis. He was lucky to have been diagnosed quickly. He endured shots daily and was flat on his back for 6 weeks. So, I would not go near pork.

karenlou - I am so sorry about your dear Gracie Lexica - welcome to the Dinner Club! I'm nearly always one of the early posters, due to my time zone, but I try to come back in my morning to catch up I am in the love pork chops/steaks camp. We didn't eat much pork growing up, as my dad didn't like it, but DH grew up eating it (cooked to shoe leather by his mother), so I added it to my repertoire. We get really good pork from our butcher here. They sell a breed specific, small farm pork and it is delicious and beautifully tender when cooked properly.

So, I would not go near pork. That is very scary. I am so glad to read that his exposure was caught early and I am presuming that there was no permanent damage to his body? Do you know what symptoms he had that got him into the doctor’s office to be seen, allowing for that early diagnosis? I am going to hope all of the pork that I have eaten has been cooked appropriately. That picture of the body filled with larvae from undercooked pork really scared me. And carrying that a bit further, if that same larvae-filled piec of meat was cooked long enough to kill all the larvae, who wants to eat cooked larvae? Certainly not me!
