Happy Friday! Whew! This has been a week that I'm not sorry to say goodbye to for sure! cadoodlebug Thanks for asking! He has been eating better and very happy to be home. My parents are at the point where they really rely on each other and if one isn't there, it's really out of whack. My mom stayed with my sister while my dad was in the hospital and now she's back at home too. We want to keep them as independent as possible because it helps keep them vital. We mostly provide meals and transportation but the longer they can be on their own, the better. I'm not sure what dinner will be tonight. I took out some hamburger for cheeseburger soup so I'll either make that tonight or tomorrow. I also have kielbasa that I cook with onions and potatoes so I may make that tonight. Hope you all have a great day!

I'll be going out for breakfast with my mom and sister in a few and maybe go to Hobby Lobby after that. Once I get home I have no plans but to watch movies and work on my puzzle.
I have no idea what's for dinner.

Hi all, I decided to stay home most of today, just going out this morning to the supermarket which is about 6-7 minutes walk from our apartment. My new laptop was delivered to DH at work yesterday, so he set it up once I got home and I spent some time this morning getting used to it - it is bigger than my last one and has a slightly different keyboard, still German layout but also with a number pad on the side which the old one didn’t have. Dinner tonight is a Friday special - fish and chips with a bit extra - crumbed calamari and prawns as well as the fish. Remoulade sauce on the side. My older son posted this on Facebook earlier today. Since 2021, he has been president of his local community Toy Library, and was recently honoured with an award for Volunteer of the Year.

last night, I made dh a quick grilled cheese sandwich.. but it had tillamook cheese and boudin's sourdough bread.. he had it right before we went to the airport. I had a bowl of radishes. I had been snacking all day.
tonight I will be gone, so they are on their own. I am going to have 1/2 order of thai chicken/shrimp fresh rolls for dinner
gone for the weekend, hanging with my gs friends and scrapbooking.
a lovely thick foggy day. will be hot where I am going in Marin county.

Congratulations to him! That's an honour! I'm heading to the grocery store in a few minutes ... I didn't go yesterday ... my mum is coming over for dinner and I need to buy the ingredients for pork chops in mushroom sauce! . We'll see if it turns out!

My supper out with friends and former coworkers last night was so fun! The waitress came to the table to take our order multiple times and we were so busy talking we hadn’t even looked at the menu!
As you know I babysit quite often for my son and DDIL. Yesterday I got an etransfer from my son. I asked him why he was sending me money and he replied “I’m buying your supper tonight. Thanks for all the help you give us”.
I’ve been to the grocery store and done some laundry. Now I’m going to attempt the check in process for the cruise ship. I’m putting a beef roast in the oven and we will also have roasted potatoes and carrots, turnip and coleslaw. It’s a cooler day here so I don’t mind having the oven turned on for a bit.

Happy Friday! I know it was a short week for most of us with the holiday but boy it sure drug out... cadoodlebug that pool looks so nice. sueg congratulations to your son. Tearisci that soup sounds delicious. I have spent the morning gathering the rest of my supplies for tomorrow. I am getting ready to head out to start setting up for the event. I will be there until early evening. The weather has turned much cooler. It is supposed to be a high in the mid 60's tomorrow. That is about perfect but we are supposed to have high winds as well. That is a concern since everything is outside with the exception of the survivor dinner. DH and I were outside last night walking our property when I spotted something on the ground that I have never seen before. Come to find out, we have pawpaw trees on our property They are just at the edge of the woods. We were able to shake a ripe one off the tree. After some googling about them I ate it. It was so good. Tasted a little like a mango. I am going to keep checking every day for ripe ones. I will be gone for dinner and DH will be at one of the grands soccer games so we will each figure something out.

This has been a week that I'm not sorry to say goodbye to for sure! Cheers to this sentiment! My older son posted this on Facebook earlier today. I'm heading to the grocery store in a few minutes ... I didn't go yesterday ... my mum is coming over for dinner and I need to buy the ingredients for pork chops in mushroom sauce! Not you too?!?!?!?!?! Come to find out, we have pawpaw trees on our property They are just at the edge of the woods. We were able to shake a ripe one off the tree. After some googling about them I ate it. It was so good. Tasted a little like a mango. I am going to keep checking every day for ripe ones. I read an article in The ATlantic about a year ago about pawpaws. I guess they should be the national fruit, they are so common, but they are the best kept secret because they don't get ripe if you take them off the trees early. So they cannot really be sold in stores. Wild. I've never had one. I think I'm going to make pasta for dinner. I still have tomatoes and zucchini from the garden.

I made meatloaf last night. That is something I haven't made in YEARS!!! Dh and I were discussing it, and he was willing to give it a whirl. When we were first married (1986) he said that meatloaf was a waste of perfectly good ground beef! He recalled that when he was a kid his mom made meatloaf, and it was mostly crackers and onions. He said we didn't have much, and his mom was trying to stretch the meat to feed the family. I used the Pioneer Woman recipe (changed a couple things) it was okay. Not something that I am going to put on rotation. I definitely will not be eating the leftovers...I hate warmed up meat!! Tearisci I literally cracked up that you chucked your pork chops!!! leannec You need to report back on how your pork chops turn out! sueg Congrats to your son!!! stormsts I have never heard of pawpaw trees! I am going to google that. I am not sure what dinner will be tonight. DH is out on a job, and I am not sure when he will be back. I have a bunch of fun projects that I want to start. But I have to be in the office until this afternoon.

cadoodlebug Thank you! Easy peasy - only 3 minutes. Wish my fillings this morning could've been that easy. They weren't too bad...except for the giant thing they use to suck excess water out. Having a small mouth doesn't help, I suppose. But I managed through my first fillings. Never want that AGAIN. I also squeezed in my oil change, tire rotation, and inspection between the two appointments. So back to work for a few hours and then I'll pick up DH at work. I am still (impatiently) waiting for my lab work results from last week. I'm used to a less than one day turn around time, so maybe I should just learn some patience. Happy weekend, all!

sueg how wonderful to have your son honored. taylortroop how sweet of your ds to show his appreciation for all you do. I got released from jury duty. That courthouse was well run though a 45 minute drive without traffic. I seem to rarely get assigned to my local court. Tonight is rechauffe.

Ok do not jump on me for asking this. I eat plain unsweetened Greek yoghurt and use Splenda and vanilla in it. It’s not amazing but it’s tolerable and “something else to eat”. It’s still better than my former strawberry Greek yoghurt (that is amazing), correct?
Dinner last night was a burger. Tonight is ribs. If there is a fresh vegetable you can think of I have it and plan to eat. I also have a ready to cook sweet onion half that I am going to fry as well.
It’s going up to 27° today. It’s very nice!

Hi, you all. I’m back from my little getaway in Pacifica and ready to (maybe?) actually cook something. Had a great time and ate a couple of wonderful seafood dinners. Marina, we amateur-whale-watched at several different times and spots, but didn’t see any whales. I see I missed a lot in my absence. Tearisci, glad to hear your parents are back home finally. karenlou, did you lose your sweet Gracie? I am so very sorry. sueg, big congrats to your DS! ntsf, enjoy your scrapbooking weekend. taylortroop, how thoughtful of your son. The Birdhouse Lady, you didn’t ask, but here is my delicious meat loaf recipe. ( cadoodlebug has a different delicious meat loaf recipe, too.) Mine is super easy and also easy to customize. I double the sauce but only the ketchup and mustard, not the brown sugar, otherwise it’s too sweet for us. The extra is really good served on the meat loaf and also on mashed or other potatoes, noodles, etc. You also did not ask, but leftover meat loaf is great sliced (cold) in a sandwich. www.allrecipes.com/recipe/16354/easy-meatloaf/?utm_source=pinterest&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=shareurlbuttonslittlemama, amazingly, I have a pork chop recipe, too. Easy and delish, NOT dry, but it does take several hours in the oven, so plan accordingly. I just use a bottle of local BBQ sauce, rather than follow their recipe for making your own. pictureperfectcooking.com/2014/03/08/fall-apart-pork-chops/

Here’s another pork chop recipe we like. This one goes in the slow cooker. Could probably be done in the oven just like the other recipe, though. www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/slow-cooker-saucy-pork-chops/ETA I forgot to say what’s for dinner. I’m going to make some simple, quick ground beef and noodles casserole. I forget the name right now. Will probably eat it all weekend.

lucyg the next time we get a hankering for meatloaf I will give yours a whirl!!! The sauce I put on mine was ketchup, dried mustard, brown sugar and a splash of tabasco. I didn't have tabasco, so I used sriracha. The sauce was my favorite part of the meatloaf!!

@scrappintoeee glad to have you back on the dinner thread. lucyg I'm sorry you didn't get to see any whales. I thought about driving out there early this morning to try but my cough is still with me. It seems it's just luck to get sightings. I've read early morning and late afternoons.

I'm so sorry to hear about Gracie, karenlou. {{{hugs}}} Congratulations to your DS, sueg. You and your DH must be beaming with pride. I love that your DS & DDIL show their appreciation for all the help you provide, taylortroop! Our heatwave has put a damper on my painting plans for the weekend so I'll be spending time clearing out a few more spaces instead (more office, bathrooms) along with getting together for lunch with a few crafty friends and at least one dinner at the Greek festival. I took DD to the airport in Irvine and stopped at our favorite Middle Eastern grocery store on the way back to pick up sangak, halva, okra torshi and a few other things. DH is usually with me so I took advantage of being alone and went up and down every aisle, picking up a few treats that will be tucked away in the stocking stuffer drawer. Dinner tonight is fend for yourself. I'll be having the sangak with hummus, garlic dip and eggplant dip along with a slaw I made yesterday.

destined2bmom PolarGreen12 are okay and will post sometime soon Hi there! I'm here, just not posting much. We are in MI camping the past 3 days. We will head home in the am and have time to unpack and relax before facing the week. Prepping for vacation is a lot of work! It's been nice and quiet with only half a dozen rigs here until this afternoon when it started to fill up. The puppies have been good girls, and we have read and relaxed a bunch. Thank you for thinking of me. So glad you are back! Much love to everyone...I'm thinking of all of you even when I'm not posting. Extra hugs to you. karenlou. I know it is so tough. ❤️
