These road trip/vacation stories are cracking me up! My one complaint with DH is when I say that I'm going to need a bathroom break soon and he'll stay in the fast lane on the freeway and pass up a rest area. WTH?? And completely missed the sign that says REST AREA 1 MILE!  My dh also does this. Up since 5 for no reason and I’m dragging. Plus I have Luke for the next 2 days. Dh brought veggie pizza on his way home from golf. Happy Birthday scrapmaven. I’m guessing that castle is detailed. Enjoy your vacation jeremysgirl. I forgot to add the other day that Lima beans are worse than kidney beans. From yesterday’s post and the pawpaws. There’s a pawpaw tree farm a couple miles from me. I’ve never had 1. Never seen one either. Supposedly their native here and I’ve never seen one in the grocery either. |

OMG, this looks like the cookie recipe that a coworker’s wife used to make for his lunches every single day! She gave me the recipe, but I am not sure if I still have it. I just called them Mrs. Sneed’s Cookies since she gave me the recipe. I never heard of cowboy cookies before, but this sure looks awfully similar to what she used to make. I’ll have to give this a try. Thanks! It used to be a thing that the potential first ladies would have a cookie bake off. It was an election year tradition. And these cookies were entered in 2000 and won. I've been making them since. They have become a camping tradition. I had been going since 6 this morning and finally I got to noon and was like, yeah let's go. And he was like without the cookies? 😪😂 |

Wishing scrapmaven the very happiest of birthday to you!!! You mean so much to so many of us! Hope your day is filled with happiness (minus the data backup)  Tonight, we are having dinner out so he can celebrate Kait. He got called out on a big job and he will be leaving in the morning. Tomorrow evening is the family party even though her birthday is on Monday. He is going to miss all of it.  |

Because they have to be picked super ripe. |

However we've been in the car for 25 minutes now so I'm just about to break the silence and start the vacation properly. 😂  DH & I do pretty well on roadtrips. My biggest complaint is when we stop for gas in some high priced remote area and he decides it is too expensive, so puts in the minimum to get us to another station. When we pull in out at the next opportunity, 99% of the time it is an even higher price. So he puts in the minimum. Rinse. Repeat. Until I threaten him with bodily harm if he doesn't fill the tank completely this time! I've probably told this one before, but on our very first road trip a few months into seeing each other we stopped for gas. In those days you had to go in to pay of course, so he asked if I wanted anything and I said "bring me a treat". I was curious to see if it would be chocolate or chips and fine with either. It was darn pepperoni sticks he brought back!!! I am not a pepperoni stick girl. Pepperoni sticks are NOT a treat. We were literally in the middle of nowhere and had about 4-5 hours to the next stop. He learned his lesson that day.  I will bring him jerky or pepperoni sticks but he knows I'm looking for salty or sweet. leannec...That's scary that you bled THAT much from a tiny scab. I wonder what your clotting factors numbers are/ it might also be a blood vessel issue/ OR....I'm just being overly concerned and should keep my mouth shut  bc2ca....that's such a cute story! Pepperoni sticks are so SPECIFIC. **GypsyGirl**....Such GREAT news about your hubbs! And how nice to get a break from the damn heat! Drinking coffee outside with a good book is one of my fave things to do. Tonight I'm making spaghetti and salad. scrapmaven

jeremysgirl .... was worried your fun trip would be cancelled from what you said on that other thread. How sweet that you made them last-minute for your hubbs! I want to make them RIGHT NOW! I read the whole article you posted, and I never knew it was a FIrst Lady thing. There was another wife (can't remember which) who made Pecan Roll Cookies, which also sound yummy. leannec ....Omg, new season of "Selling Sunset!?!!" I can't wait! I mostly watch for the INSANE outfits they wear. Every season it gets more and more outrageous! Remember Chelsea's LABIA PURSE !?!  I may have posted this to you before? But just in case---this guy is HILARIOUS!

Welp! We just left. We are in the silent phase of the car trip. Because we've spent all morning packing and preparing and sniping at each other. Don't even worry. This is how we roll out the door to a camping trip. He doesn't move until the last minute. And I'm prepping all the food. I was ready to walk out over 2 hours ago but he insisted on cowboy cookies. Then the last batch went into the oven and I said, I'm going to set the timer and run to the liquor store. Please take them out when the timer goes off. He overcooked them. He said they didn't look done enough to him when the timer went off. If I hadn't walked in, he would have totally burned them. So basically I got angry. He got angry. And now we are sitting in silence. However we've been in the car for 25 minutes now so I'm just about to break the silence and start the vacation properly. 😂 I made chili to cook in the Dutch oven tonight. I also made corn muffins to go with it. You're a better person than me. No way would I break the silence first LOL. Dinner tonight was teriyaki meatballs and zucchini fritters. |

Please wish her a Happy Birthday from me. teddyw , I haven't had a chance to play. I just finished setting up new logins for today. There are many more, but I'll have to attack them as I go. Tmw I hope to open the Lego box. Then I can tell you more about it. My birthday celebration w/my family (really, presents and a Zoom Call w/the boys) will happen next weekend. Though, after a nice getaway, I should not complain, but I'm truly a bit bummed that the day was ruined by a stupid hacker. I've never watched Selling Sunset, but I used to watch Chrishell Stausse on All My children which I watched from 1974, until the end. |

I finally told him that I needed to go and he had better pull off at the next exit, and not to pull his usual “oh, I didn’t see the sign” bull. I said if he tries that again, I am fully prepared to pee on his seat. I was tired of his acting like my request didn’t matter. I had packed extra undies and jeans and was absolutely ready to follow through on my threat. I showed him the extra clothing in my bag and asked if he was prepared to test me. He pulled off at the next exit and never did that to me again. |
