get Netflix after tomorrow? I've been getting a message when I log into Netflix saying that after September 9, my device will no longer support Netflix. I'm so bummed. I watch so many different things on Netflix. I know I can watch on my laptop. I also have a Amazon show, but I like to sit on the couch at night and watch NF while I crochet. My tv isn't even super old, and it still works fine, so I can't imagine just getting a new one. Such a bummer. Anyone else?

I just bought a 40” Vizio smart tv at target for $129. That’s not expensive so just go get a new tv.

We have an older Samsung, and we access Netflix, and other apps, through the Apple TV box. Our tv did not come with something, I have to ask the SO what, that did not allow us to directly access apps on the Samsung. If you don't want a new tv, get a Roku or Apple TV device.
ETA - I think I know. The Samsung we have needs an add-on for wi-fi. We did not get that, and we would need to hook up the tv directly to the router, which we can't do since the router is upstairs. So, we went the Apple TV route.

Ha, ha. We stream by hooking my laptop up to the tv via an HDMI cable so I guess my tv is older. We actually like it because it is so fast to pull things up on the laptop. I often start our viewing with a few funny cat videos or something from Instagram or Twitter.

I’m getting that message. DH said we’ll just need to use the old PS4 to watch Netflix on our main TV. It’s a hassle, so I’m sure we’ll probably get a replacement TV soon.

We just dumped DirecTV this week and lost the receivers to our small bedroom TVs, which are not smart TVs. Easy fix was a $30 Firestick. It just plugs into the TV and all your apps are on it.

My TV is not a smart TV so I use a Firestick to watch my YouTube TV, Netflix, Hulu. They’re not that expensive expensive and they plug into the back of your TV. They’re very easy to use.

All our TVs are old- I’ve never had one that works with apps. We just use chrome cast and cast Netflix, Hulu, whatever to the screen. We are t big tv watches so I could see that being annoying maybe if you were. I watch more things on my iPad than big tvs.

Roku solved my streaming challenge. Before that I hooked up the laptop to the TV.

Our main tv at home gave up the ghost when our power went out before Labor Day so we’ve been shopping for one too. That said, we’re probably going to wait a couple months until Thanksgiving week when Costco puts a bunch on sale. We bought a 70” OLED TV for about $500 there a couple years ago for our lake place during that sale so it’s worth it to us to wait a bit.

We use a Google TV, about $30-40 on our old TV. It is our second one but I never use the other TV we have one one. I really like it especially now that DH set the Google TV remote to turn on the TV I only need one remote.

Could this be like old software when the makers say after a certain date they will no longer support it. It is not that is won't work, but they will no longer updating it of assist with issues. Hopefully you will still be able to use your current method.

I plug my laptop into my TV and that's how I stream, and I have an older tv. I did give up Netflix recently but not forever, just watch more on Prime and Crave at the moment. I will be back!! I have an older laptop so hope it's not going to be an issue.

My television was my mother’s, and she died in 2011! I’m surprised it even has an HDMI port. I use a Roku stick.

This is what I use for the TV in my home office/scrap space. I can stream from more platforms than the smart tv in our living room. And agreed...simple to set up and use.

I can no longer get Hulu on our TV in our living room since their last upgrade so I wouldn't be surprised if we lose Netflix too. My DH has already ordered a Firetick.

We have 2 old tv's...they are dumb. To get them to hook to the internet we have Apple TV squares. You can download the apps you need to use to watch Peacock, Hulu, Netflix, Prime....whatever you'd like.
On our Smart TV's we use Spectrum as that is what is available in our area. We have downloaded the apps to those tv's.

I know my DD used YTTV for a good bit. I am trying to get DH a bit more off the Dish train. He has only just started watching streaming TV on the Roku TV just this summer. I have been trying to get him to switch to YTTV and save money. I am wondering how this whole GTV works.

We have a couple non smart TVs but added a firestick to them. I rarely use the apps on the tv itself but use a firestick on our smart TVs. It’s just easier sometimes.

I have an older laptop so hope it's not going to be an issue. This is what I was going to get to. If your old tv has a HDMI port, which I'm guessing it does because it had the Netflix app on it... all you have to do is buy an HDMI cable on Amazon for $5-$10 and plug one end into your TV and one end in your laptop and you can still watch your programs on your TV. You just control the selection on your computer, not with a remote. You should learn about how to "Project and Extend" your screen and then you can watch while still browsing the web or doing whatever else you might do on your laptop.

So it's basically the Roku device already plugged in our non-smart TV.
