Our little town held its fireworks last night. I had my family over for supper and to enjoy the show from my deck. Tonight I'm catching up here on the refugee board (soooo happy we're still together!) and enjoying the peace and quiet. DD met up with friends to see another fireworks display nearby.

We're staying in for the evening. Which is nice.
We have a casino about 5 minutes away that has a wonderful fireworks display every year. So we can enjoy the show from our own back yard. We just need to keep the dogs inside since they go CRAZY with the noise.

I am at a Rockies game and we are getting our butt handed to us. Good thing there are fireworks at the end of the game.
Obviously it isn't an exciting game since I am peaing

Staying in with the dogs. Two out of the three are not very happy right now. Also, the mosquitos are horrendous and try not to go out unless necessary.

Sitting here waiting for our fireworks to start. I think the whole town is out here. There's hardly any place left to park. Probably because the weather is really nice tonight.

We had a friend and her girls over for a bbq today. They left around 8 and we've just been sitting around and relaxing since then. Nice quiet night...love it!

Just saw the Fireworks. All we have to do is walk to the front of our neighborhood and we have a great view. No crowds, no fuss, no muss.

I'm getting ready to make a swiss roll cake for SO's birthday tomorrow. We're saving our big 4th dinner etc for tomorrow since it's his birthday and we weren't planning anything tonight anyway.

We are staying home, however, we have two neighbors that are shooting fireworks right now. Our poor dog is going crazy over the noise.

DH is working -- the trains still have places to go on the 4th -- so I'm hanging out with our 3 year old. We are currently watching our neighbors trying to out do one another in their attempts to blow up the 'hood. Their shows are impressive considering most fireworks aren't legal here. It's been 45 minutes of flash, bang, boom. DS thinks it's awesome. The dog is annoyed that her beauty sleep has been disturbed. DH will be home in an hour or so.

Steph!! Hi-glad to see you made it over here! Lumo - oh no, I sure hope you are feeling better soon. Sorry to hear about your dogs being upset, whipea and doxielady. Wish there was a way to let them know they are going to be OK. Brandy327 and LavendarLayoutLady - sometimes it's nice to have a quiet agenda. At least, that's how I'm feeling tonight! Caro, Miyooper2b and freecharlie - it's always fun to see fireworks and celebrate a little (even if your team doesn't win!)

My boys and I stayed in this evening. My husband is working and I didn't feel like fighting the hoards of people/tourists tonight since I don't feel so good.

My daughters and I went to a bbq and watched fireworks Tuesday night.
Tonight all three of my daughters are staying over with my in laws. I've been going through my 'to do' list. Laundry, sorting through garage sale stuff, making a grocery list, programming my sprinklers, looked through photos for awhile and cried, PARTY ANIMAL!!! Missing my hubby horribly tonight. Just one of those nights. It's been 5 months today.

We had a big cook out/family reunion with DH's family early today and were at the park for about 5 hours. Once I got home, unloaded all the leftovers and got them in the fridge, I crashed. I've done pretty much nothing other than return to the fridge a few times for homemade garden green beans and water melon. DD stayed with cousins and DH went to another cookout with some friends of his. I chose my nap over socializing tonight, so Ziggy and I are sitting here content in bed. I haven't heard the first firework, I guess that shows how far out in the middle of nowhere I really live. ![](http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-laughing002.gif)

my dh took the boat and moored near the fireworks show in sf. I am watching the fireworks on tv...and love to see them busting into the fog...the fog is about 900 ft above the ground...so you get sort of a half show.. I am getting a lot done while he's gone for the weekend. he took our son and his friend...do some sailing.

I got a lot accomplished around here today! Several things I have been putting off for awhile. Then prepped the lasagna for brothers birthday tomorrow and my mom came over later and we watched a movie.

Had a BBQ dinner which was lots of fun, now sitting in bed, trying to comfort our two newest cats who have not had a 4th of July before and watching our lights flicker every minute or so. We live in a state that seems to have no restrictions on fireworks and people went CRAZY this year! I can look out my bedroom window and see quite a display! Typically one of our cats likes to watch with me, but this year they are too much for even her, they are really loud this year.

I have a killer sore throat and laryngitis, plus a sleeping baby...so we stayed in, bbq'd, and watched fireworks out our bedroom window. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg)

Spent most of the day sleeping (since I worked til 7:30am), then the late afternoon and evening was spent with 2 of my grandsons (ages 3 and 18mos) and their parents at our city's 4th Fest, with bouncy houses, music, balloon animals and shaved ice, ending the evening with an awesome fireworks display (we were sitting just about 500 ft from where they were being set off, soooooo amazing!) Then it was a rush to beat the traffic and get home just in time to go to work at 11. I'll be here til 7:30am, and then finally... sleep. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg)

We met some family from out of town, then went to the planetarium at our local community college to watch a couple of shows, before watching the big fireworks from the CC's parking lot, which is very close to where they are set off and always has the best view. The parking lot is next to a frontage road that runs along the freeway.
About 10 minutes into the fireworks show things turned surreal, as a vehicle accident happened right in front of us on the freeway. We were about 50 yards away. Within another 10 minutes at least eight emergency vehicles were on the scene. By that point more people were watching the accident than the fireworks, which were still going on right over the whole mess with the lights and fire trucks and ambulances and the smell of gasoline everywhere.
I learned this morning that fortunately no one was seriously injured, and apparently the driver walked away from the accident. The response seemed like overkill, but I guess with the number of people out there lining the freeway watching the show, and the possibility for brush/gas fire, they wanted every possible responder on hand. It was a memorable show anyway.
