Good morning,
Today let's celebrate the birthday of our wonderful taylortroop. May your year start w/a fabulous cruise, followed by many moments of joy.
Dinner will be something that goes w/bruschetta. I haven't figured out the main. We have tomatoes that are just calling for me to make bruschetta.
What's on your menu?
What is everyone doing today?
I have a video conference and then I need to spend the day packing, because I booked a last minute trip to my specialist. The best time for him is next week. I have to ship my luggage ahead now. @gyspygirl, I'll pm you this afternoon.
Wishing everyone a happy, easy day.

Good Morning! taylortroop Have a fabulous day! I just came in from a walk. It was a little chilly. Guess I better get used to it. I am cleaning this morning then I have a hair appointment. Need to run a few errands but I really want to get the house cleaned so those may wait until after work tomorrow. I have no idea what if for dinner. I am tired of fixing the same things. Basically, I am just tired of cooking.

stormsts, what are you gonna do for fun today, in addition to your housework? Every now and then cooking gets old doesn't it? Can you do a takeout night or convince your hubby to go out?

Remembering all those who lost their lives on 9/11 and those whose heroic actions caused their deaths in the following years. Happy Birthday taylortroop , hope it's a great day! I have AquaFit this morning (and it's chilly outside) and Newcomer's Luncheon this afternoon. Dinner will be Sloppy Joe's. With the hurricane headed to Louisiana, this put a lump in my throat.

Happy birthday, taylortroop! I’m sorry I’ve been so absent lately. Life has just been crazy. Tomorrow I leave for a 4-day crop with friends. But starting next week, things should start being a little calmer. Dinner will be whatever I can scrounge together from the stuff in the fridge. Guess I’ll need to toss what’s left. Have a great weekend, all. P.S. I had a CT scan on Monday, and the metastasis in my lungs has shrunk in the two months since I started the new chemo regimen.

cadoodlebug , ((((HUGS)))). My thoughts are w/the people in the path of the hurricane. Scary stuff. 9/11 brought us all together as a nation. We grieved together. How I wish it didn't take a tragedy and horrifying event to do that. May the families of the people who lost their lives on that day be comforted today.
lucyg, your news is indeed, good news. Thank you for sharing it. You're quite a busy lady. How do you feel? How are you tolerating the chemo or not? How many treatments do you have left? Woohoo that your mets are shrinking.

Happy Wednesday! Happy birthday, taylortroop ! I've got a busy day at work and then taking my parents to dr appointments. They have a ton this week so my sister and I are tag teaming them. It used to just be my mom that had a lot but my dad is catching up with her after his recent heart health scare. Dinner tonight will probably be spaghetti and Texas Toast. I've got ingredients for soup but I think I'll save that for this weekend when I have more time. Hope you all have a great day!

Tearisci, when you develop a heart condition the doctors watch you like a hawk. Even at my age, if I sneeze in the wrong direction then I'm on a table, hooked up to machines. It's a pita, but it also means that they're taking good care of your dad.

Happy birthday taylortroop! Great news lucyg! Another day of not working ... if I taught elementary I would have jobs but no thank you! I'm fighting a bit of a headache so I took some meds so that it doesn't turn into a migraine ... Later, I will grab a few groceries ... Dinner will be whatever I see at the store!

Linda, though the three boys need to be in custody it's a shame that their lives are basically done and they never grew up. It's a scary and sad world sometimes.

scrapmaven, I’m feeling fine and, after the difficulties I had with the first treatment dissipated, tolerating the chemo well. There are some side effects but nothing overwhelming. Treatment is open-ended … I will keep getting it until it stops working. So far, so good. Thanks for asking.

Best news ever, lucyg ! taylortroop ! My sleep seems to alternate a good night with a bad night, so I'm dragging this morning. I'm 99% sure I will nap this afternoon because DD and I are going to Pink tonight!!!!!! I'm so excited!! We were supposed to see her last year in Vancouver and she had to cancel for illness. Long story short, those dates were rescheduled for last weekend about the same time her San Diego dates came out so we are seeing her here. As an added bonus, Sheryl Crow is her special guest! I'm making chicken salad so will eat before we go. ETA Is it weird to say I'm happy that people are reporting threats and law enforcement is taking the reports seriously, Linda?

Happy mid- week dinner friends! Happy Happy Birthday taylortroop! I hope your day is filled with special moments! lucyg Great news!! I hope your mets continue to shrink!! Sending thoughts to everyone in the path of the hurricane and those effected by 9-11. I'm leaving for my quilt retreat in a few minutes. I'm packed and DH has the car loaded except for a few last minute items. I think he's ready to have the house to himself. I know that feeling when he heads to the ranch, it isn't that we don't enjoy each others company, but we are both pretty independent. Dinner is at a restaurant near the Retreat center, the included meals start with lunch tomorrow. I'm packing a few healthy things, just in case I prefer to just eat what I want to take. :-) I hope everyone has a great day!!

lucyg - that’s great news. I hope further treatment shrinks it more. Happy Birthday taylortroopI’m a bit late today as I picked my friend’s daughter up from school, then we walked to the nearby mall, had coffee and hot chocolate then browsed the bookshop until friend met up with us. I’ve been a bit slow all day as I didn’t sleep well last night due to heartburn and woke up feeling yuk. Dinner tonight is pumpkin and onion ravioli with red pepper pesto. Nice and simple and also quick.

lucyg ... OMG! Great news! Tearisci ....Sorry for how stressful / sad it is dealing with both of your parents' health issues. A few days ago, I posted a long message to all of you dealing with your parents, but it was later in the day, so I doubt many of you saw it. taylortroop ... Happy Birthday! bc2ca ....When I clicked your link again today of that salad (gorgeous colors!)-- the locations were all in London .I guess you had it at one of their locations and loved it so much, you re-created it at home? It's so pretty and looks yummy, so even though I've never had kholrabi, I might attempt to make it. I'm going for a massage today, and cannot WAIT !!! I haven't been able to go in several years, because I literally would not have been able to even get onto the table or be able to lie flat. I have some new (weird!) pain issues that I hope the massage will help. Dinnerrr.....hmm....who knows?

bc2ca....When I clicked your link again today of that salad (gorgeous colors!) you posted yesterday, the locations were all in London. (DH and I are hoping to go to England sometime in the future!!!).I guess you had it at one of their locations and loved it so much, you re-created it at home? It's so pretty and looks yummy, so even though I've never had kholrabi, I might attempt to make it. I have to give credit to sueg for introducing me to Yotam Ottolenghi through this thread with something she made years ago (can't remember what it was - maybe shakshuka?). I do have his cookbook Flavor but have mostly just poked through his website and searched for recipes based on what I had on hand. We love this cauliflower salad and green beans with snow peas. I'd never had kohlrabi before making this salad a few years ago but DH loves beets and I was looking for something new. Since watching Somebody Feed Phil on Netflix where he visited on of the London restaurants, it is on our bucket list. Hopefully next year.

Thank you all so much for the wonderful birthday wishes!
This morning I took my mom for her shot in the eye. She had to have some sort of dye through an IV so they could see the back of her eye. It took two hours and no one is allowed to wait in the waiting room so I was waiting in the car the whole time. Thankfully I had a book with me.
ODS took me out for lunch for my birthday since he is on holidays this week. DH tagged along as well.
We were going to go out for supper but since we went out for lunch, we will wait for another day. DH will grill me a steak and he will have grilled sausages.
