As a dog owner, I've always done the 7 years to each year conversion for my dog to figure out his human age. Apparently, that isn't very accurate and there is a new way to calculate age. According to this, my 4 year old is 34. How old is your dog? Dog aging calculator

very neat! I've heard that 7-year rule too, and used it for approximate...
calculating this way, our senior dog- he will be 14 on Sunday!) is 84, and the younger two are 4, so they would be 34. (if I did my math right, that is, which is always a question nowadays, lol.)

My youngest is 1.5 years old so I am going with 20 based on the 1 -2 years not being broken down. She acts like a 20 yr old girl.
My oldest is 51 in human years. He's 8.

The one thing that they mention in the article is that it doesn't take into consideration what size they are. As a general rule of thumb, larger dogs have a shorter life span but I thought it was a neat calculator.

My poor boy is 64ish. (He’s a St Bernard, turning eight in a couple of months.)

My sweetie pup is 69. He's 12 in human years and 69 sounds just about right. He's slowing down, getting some fatty deposits and snores a lot. But he's not at all "elderly." He still can jump up on our bed, loves to run around in our yard and chase the squirrels.

My standard poodle is 88 (14) and still in excellent health. My doodle is 55 (8) and acts like a puppy. I have always thought that keeping our dog’s weight on the lower end of the healthy scale adds to both the quality and length of their lives. I’ll be heartbroken when it’s time for either of them to cross the rainbow bridge.

I’ll be heartbroken when it’s time for either of them to cross the rainbow bridge. I think that is really a key- keeping them at the right weight. My parents have 'loved' all their dogs to an early demise by letting them get obese. My dog only gets his food and some small rawhides as a 'nummy' and he's kept his weight low.

Aww. Scouty will be turning 64 tomorrow in human years! (We think...we base his birthday on his 'gotcha day' and add 2 because he was still a pup when we adopted him).

Our granddog who comes to work with us every day is 61. That explains a lot.

Using the old 7 year calculation, my boy is 56. Using the other way he is 51. All I know is that he is turning into a grumpy old man with little tolerance for the younger generation.

Mine are 42 and 78. My older pup is hanging in there, but has really slowed down. He's just shy of 14.

My toy poodle just turned 9 (so 52 by their scale) and our lab is 5 (so 36 by their scale).

My dad's dog is 60-65 (he is on the dividing line of the weight groups- should be the lower weight but probably is the higher.} My dad is 85. So they are two grumpy old men.

At 16 and 5 month and at the lower end of the 21-50 lb range I guess he is in his mid 80s. He has really slowed down this year and lost his Jack Russel "spring".

That’s a cool article. My babies (chihuahuas) will be 56 in November.
