Am I the only person not excited to see rub-ons making a come back? I had so many issues with rub-ons chipping off older pages. Page protectors full of chipped rub-ons. Will not do that again. I’d rather use stamps. Does the cheese stand alone on this topic?

I really only use rub-ons for my planner, so I'm not too worried about longevity. I do have some big 49 & Market rub-ons that are really more appropriate for a scrapbook page. Hopefully they won't chip or stick to my page protectors. We'll see...

I was never proficient with rub-ons. Years, decades ago....I tried them a couple-few times, and they went on crooked--not straight or even, or a spot would be bare. I discontinued purchasing and using them.

I love my 49 and Market rubons. They go on nicely. I love how they can overlap both the photo and the background paper. I have only been using them for a couple years, so I don't know how they will hold up in the long run.

I haven't noticed any sort of issues with my rub-ons on finished pages.
I only found trouble with some brands in the actual application, but if they did go on well, then they seemed to stay where they should for me.

I’m strictly a card maker but I love the 49 and Market rubons. They aren’t shiny or noticeably a rub on. They really look like part of the paper to me.

I don't use rub ons at all anymore and I haven't noticed the ones I did use a long time ago flaking or looking damaged at all. They're just not some something I've been interested in trying since they're been reappearing again. I've seen some really pretty ones from 49 and Market, though. Also, I'm still disgruntled about the Heidi Swapp rub ons years ago.

I'm not buying them but if I end up with some down the road from someone else's destash, I wouod be willing to give them a try. I have some Piggy Tales rub-ons I got secondhand a few years ago and they go on like butter and I haven't had any issues with them. I remember MM alphas being awesome also (a thrift store find for me) but I too remember the HS ones...that weren't.
I would need to go and look again but I haven't noticed any issues with rub-ons on my layouts - the only issues I've had was with application (mainly the HS ones)

I live in a dry desert climate. Perhaps that could be why I experienced so many issues with them drying out. 🤷♀️

I live in a dry desert climate. Perhaps that could be why I experienced so many issues with them drying out. 🤷♀️ I think, like with adhesives, climate may have a big influence. And some were terrible quality. I like seeing people use them as a little accent in the backgrounds, especially on mixed media cards and art journal pages, but I can understand the hesitation to use them on layouts meant to last for decades.

I didn’t like rub-ons before, and I have zero interest in using them.

I love the ones 49 & Market have been adding to their collections and picked up another pack while I was on holidays recently. I've had decent luck with rub-ons excluding the HS ones which were beyond terrible.

I'm obsessed with the 49 & Market rub-ons. They go on so easily. At this point, if they are coming off in 20 years, I don't care.
I had a few issues with some rub-ons, but I've been going through old albums recently and haven't seen any problems.

The newer ones seem sturdier. The prior ones tended to be difficult. Some of them tore on their journey from package to layout. Others kind of folded up as you were carefully (or so you thought) placing them.
The new ones are so pretty and I bought a package of them that are 49 and Market and these are good.

I can't tell you how many of my old ones have stuck to the page protectors, I'm staying mad at rub-ons.
I still have a lot of the older ones stashed in the closet, I thought about using them on some cards to start getting rid of them.

I like rub-ons, but I will have to go check if they are sticking or not. I still have old 7 Gypsies ones I use, they were a good quality. I like the 49&Market, I just picked up some scrapbook.com brand to try out.

I stand with you, cheese.
I'm not into rub-ons.
I got some from Kelly Purkey recently (a year ago) because the designs were so good. I haven't even used them yet. But I know not to let them near anything else in a layout. Nowhere near anything plastic or anything that might pull them back up. I wish they were stickers. I shouldn't have bought them but they were on sale.

Oh I LOVE rub-ons,,, I haven't had many that haven't lasted.. I had some that I didn't use that went bad, but the majority have been okay... my favorite old ones are the Making Memories letters.. they came in those booklet things... I still have a bunch.. I should pull them out and see if they still work.

I love rub-ons. I had some bad ones back in the day, but I can say that about almost every product I've bought. I still have some of my Making Memories letters, and they still work just as well as the day I bought them. I've never had any rub-ons stick to the page protectors - yet. The 49 & Market rub-ons are a dream to work with. We'll see if they stand the test of time. I'm hopeful.

IIRC I've only ever been interested in/purchased/used MM letter rub-ons. Since I prefer alphabet dies, stamps, etc. to create titles, I don't have a need to purchase rub-ons during their resurgence. ... I still have some of my Making Memories letters, and they still work just as well as the day I bought them. ... Same

Also, I'm still disgruntled about the Heidi Swapp rub ons years ago. Yes! LOVED the designs but the quality was very bad 😕 I just cleaned out and reorganized my scrapbook room and threw out all of these. Should have done it years ago but I had them all and it made me cringe at how much money was wasted. Having said that I love 49 and market rub ons and so far they work wonderfully!

Funny seeing this thread. I just found a container of rub ons the other day. So far I've tried Making Memories and Gin-X ones and they still apply like butter. I'm hoping the books of rub-ons by Creative Imaginations are still good.
The only ones I had a problem with are the Heidi Swapp ones.
I've gone back and looked at some of my older pages and haven't noticed anything amiss with them.

I am a rub-ons lover for sure. In fact, I just used some in my planner/journal last week. They were old Cocoa Daisy ones from probably 5 years ago. Went on great.
This must just be a user preference situation, huh? I like the whole process of rub-ons. I like to cut them off the sheet, then grab the little popsicle stick and watch them switch their allegiance from the sheet to the paper as they sort of disappear from the sheet. Then there's the part where you don't always get all of it and you have to hit it with the popsicle stick again.
I sort of like the imprecise look they can sometimes give off, so maybe that's part of why I like them so much? I also still have MANY of the Making Memories letters. Last time I checked, they were still in great shape.
