This one is gorgeous. I love how the rooms are comfortable and classy, sympathetic to the age of the castle, but not old fashioned. IMHO anyway. 😄 The castle was built in 1789, so nearly as old as the US! It can be yours for offers over £8m ($10.5m US). I can’t imagine how much the upkeep would be - I imagine even wallpaper for one room would be the equivalent of my yearly budget for maintenance! Enjoy.

Well, shoot, I just closed on my weekend getaway in Ireland. Wonder if I can do a take backsy and look into this one?
ETA: yep, I'll take it. The Tweedle Dee Tweedle Dum room was interesting. And the wall paper with numbers. But I like it all!

This is breathtaking! Oh, if I were 20 years younger and many millions richer!

It's gorgeous and I'd love to stay there for a weekend. But even though my husband would move to Scotland in a heartbeat, even if I won the 165 million on the Powerball, I would still never want to own it.

There are some rooms I love and others are just not me. I'm not keen on the kitchen and I can't bear free standing roll top baths. It looks beautifully maintained, do you know who is the owner?

I say all the peas pitch in and we make this our getaway pea-pound (instead of commune or compound).

If it's not medieval I don't want it.

It is lovely, so huge though! I’d like to live in one of the cottages, which would be plenty big enough for me.

It seems to be a man called David Fam, owner of a consortium of luxury and boutique hotels. I believe he’s only owned it for a few years though.

If it's not medieval I don't want it. That’s ok, I’ll still let you visit if you want. 😁 It does have links to Mary Queen of Scots, which is pretty cool!

Wow. I love the many fireplaces, and I think there was even one in the bathroom that had the black tub and the arm chair in it. I have always loved fireplaces. My California house had two, and we used the family room fireplace all winter, although I had to open the back sliding doors because it got too warm. There is nothing like cozying up on the couch with a book, blanket, and cup of tea and listening to the crackle of the fireplace. I was sad that there is no fireplace here in the Oregon house. It does have a gas stove, but there is no ambiance to a gas stove. Maybe when I downsize to a smaller house in the area?
I read that there were hidden doors and hidden staircases in the castle. It would be so fun to stay for a week there and spend a bit of that time hunting for the staircases and doors. I assume the east and west wings would be for live in staff since they are left pretty plain. I couldn’t picture myself living in a place that huge, but it would be amazing to visit.

Please tell me it's something creepy. “Seton Castle was built in the late 1700s on the site of Seton Palace, which was demolished to make way for the castle. The palace, near Longniddry, on the Firth of Forth, formerly belonged to the Earls of Winton and was a popular retreat for Mary, Queen of Scots. She spent time at the palace after the murder of her second husband, Lord Darnley; they had also spent their honeymoon there.” It is built from stone re-used from Seton Palace. I’m pretty sure she must haunt the site. 😉

I wonder what Queen Mary would have to say about it now? I would almost think that with that provenance, the selling price would be more. I love how they've incorporated the thistle and tartan into the decor, while not going over the top with it.
