I do think you make a valid point about alarming people before there is evidence. I’m just really disappointed that huge issues like this are not being given a higher priority. Our journalists need to start going to every politician and asking them what their plan is to address the rise in developmental disabilities and about other issues of importance that are never mentioned. They keep asking the same questions over and over and over but never touch on other important issues. I would like to know for instance what they plan to do about schools districts like Baltimore where a large portion of the kids in high school can barely read. Is it that they can’t read at all or just not meeting the level that standardized tests say they should? Here is an article with the statistics. In Baltimore City overall 30% of high schoolers are proficient in reading and only 6% in Math. Those statistics include some of the wealthier areas. I saw a program a few years ago that highlighted some Baltimore schools where a large portion of the high school students were reading on a kindergarten or first grade level. I remember this mother crying about it because she knew her child had very little chance of success with so little education. She was questioning why they kept passing him year after year if he could barely read. Baltimore spends more per student than almost any place else. I would be in favor of sending enough money to those severely underperforming schools to have one teacher teach 3 students in a tutoring type environment. As a country we owe that to these students until they are able to read and do math at a level that gives them a chance at a good life. www.baltimorecityschools.org/article/1360338

I was told by my doc that doctors only receive maybe 8 hours of study concerning diet and health associated with it- depending on their specialty/ I had a doc (was a resident following my doc) tell me that for my osteoporosis to "just drink more milk". Bad advice is one thing- but any doc listening to that loons podcast would have me looking for a mother doc. And I HATE switching.
(side note, my prescription was not getting refilled. I called my doc's office and she went on vacation and never came back. lol I had to find another I and I see her in a couple of weeks. Hopefully she won't be talking about ol RFK)
