Good Morning. I'm feeling peppy today. That's why I come down here. I'm about to iron before my appt. After my appointment I'm going to find a bathing suit. My doctor finally cleared me to get back in the pool after my feeding tube removal a few months ago. Woohoo. What's for dinner? What is everyone up to today? How are you feeling, The Birdhouse Lady? @jeremy'sgirl, how are you doing? Dinner with Chloe is a small step twds hopeful healing. Don't let any of this dissuade you from your move to Ludington. Hppiness is a gift, but it also takes practice sometimes. Wishing everyone a happy, calm day ahead!

Happy Friday!
Wow has this been a long week!
Today is going to be fairly slow at work. Most of my team is off today so I'll mainly just be monitoring Slack. I do have a bit of training to do but that won't really take any time. I have to pick up a grocery order and my wine order at lunchtime. It's supposed to be 98 here today. I'm so over it. Cooler temps next week but I'm just ready for fall.
Tonight will probably be white chicken chili for dinner.
Hope you all have a great day!

Good evening
Today has been a lovely day. The weather was so nice so I headed into the city to my favourite fish shop. I bought a generous amount of what they call ‘fish soup mix’ but I use for lots of things - seafood pasta, fish pie, paella - anything that uses small amounts of different sorts of fish and seafood really. I wandered a bit, did some other shopping and ended with lunch at an Irish pub that does god fish and chips.
Tomorrow is the opening day of Oktoberfest 2024, and there were so many tourists around the city. The tent owners and breweries will be hoping this weather lasts, as it will be just perfect: not too hot, but warm enough for people to sit outside.
Dinner tonight will probably be paella, unless DH really wants fish pie.

Happy bathing suit shopping, scrapmaven . I've found the best of the season's left at Kohl's and Target but haven't been to the mall yet. I did find two Land's End coverups for colder months at Target on sale. We're headed to the pool this morning then, after lunch, will head to Kaiser for our Covid booster. That will put me out of commission tomorrow for anything other than watching college football. Dinner might be spaghetti and meatballs. TGIF! Stolen from jeremysgirl 's Facebook page:

I'm feeling peppy today. That's why I come down here. Well this just makes my whole day! I can't think of anyone who deserves to feel peppy more than you do! how are you doing? Dinner with Chloe is a small step twds hopeful healing. Don't let any of this dissuade you from your move to Ludington. I am fine. I extended the invitation for Tuesday and she accepted. I let her choose the restaurant and I'm just taking it slow. Jeremy is more convinced than ever that the move to Ludington must happen so no matter what happens with Chloe, he's going to push. He wants this pretty bad. Today is going to be fairly slow at work. Most of my team is off today so I'll mainly just be monitoring Slack. I'm having a slow day too. I'm working on a report and I'm breezing through it. I've got a couple of spend plans to review and approve too. And I put one together myself this morning. But of course, I have meetings all afternoon. Yuck! will head to Kaiser for our Covid booster. That will put me out of commission tomorrow My last Covid booster in January, I literally felt nothing. No symptoms at all. It was the first time that had happened to me. So here's hoping you have the same result. Last night, Jeremy decided he wanted dinner from our local make your own salad/stirfry place. So I had a nice sesame ginger tofu stirfry. I love that place. It's delicious. And they clearly label everything whether it is vegan or not. He concocts something akin to chicken fried rice. That's what he had a craving for. So tonight I will make the dinner I had planned on last night. And can I just say, TGIF! This week seems like it has been a long one.

Hi friends!
Whew, seconding/thirding/whatevering the it's been a long week sentiment! A group of us from work did a quick site visit to Orlando on Tuesday, got back Wednesday. We looked at the space we have for sessions, registration, etc. The Wendy's franchisee convention was shutting down when we were there, so a coworker and I walked through their exhibit hall.
Dinner this week has been chicken burritos.
Bess had some acne on her chin earlier this week, so DH has been calling her pizza face and asking if her face will be in time for the homecoming dance. What a cat dad.
I had my first of two ENT appointments yesterday. I don't think I'll be going back to this office. She mentioned the lack of some frontal sinuses, which I already knew, and that there's some junk (my word, not hers) in the other areas, but didn't seem too concerned at the moment. She did say she takes a more conservative approach, and felt like doing something like surgery wouldn't be helpful. If I was having more sinus infections every year, then maybe it would be concerning to her, but she didn't seem too worried at the moment. Hopefully the other guy I'm seeing for a new patient appointment is more helpful.
I also started a list of this past year's history of respiratory/sinus/ear stuff, prescriptions, labs, imaging, etc., to bring with me to that appointment, because I'm a crazy person.

Happy Friday dinner friends!! Tearisci I'm over the heat too!! We were lucky this summer with less 100+ days than the last few years, but I'm always so ready for the first real cool front! sueg if you have an opportunity, please post a few pics of Oktoberfest. I always envision it as quite the event! scrapmaven I'm so glad you are feeling peppy! This makes me smile! Dinner will be chicken wings either on the grill or in the oven with a salad. We are working our way thru one of our deep freezers, hopefully in prep of some ranch beef in a month or so. This weekend will include two baseball games for my GS- We take the puppy and they are always a good time! He moved up a league and now they play in mid afternoon, this makes them miserably hot this time of the year, I also need to book flights and a rental car for mid October for my uncle's memorial service. It will be so nice to see several cousins, my dad's side of the family is very scattered geographically. Have a great weekend everyone!!

My doctor finally cleared me to get back in the pool after my feeding tube removal a few months ago. Woohoo. Yay! I never feel peppy ... not in my nature! All of my swimsuits are from Lands End ... their quality is the best! Today has been a lovely day. The weather was so nice so I headed into the city to my favourite fish shop. We're headed to the pool this morning then, after lunch, will head to Kaiser for our Covid booster. That will put me out of commission tomorrow for anything other than watching college football. So I had a nice sesame ginger tofu stirfry. I love that place. It's delicious. And they clearly label everything whether it is vegan or not. He concocts something akin to chicken fried rice. That's what he had a craving for. I wish we had a place like that here ... sounds so good! It is cloudy and rainy here today ... gloomy! I have a neighbour coming over in an hour for tea! She is the mum of the guy I was trying to set Molly up with ... that hasn't happened yet ... Molly is now seeing someone so "you snooze, you lose" for her kid! Nothing much planned for the afternoon other than a bit of laundry ... Get this, I am going on a date tonight to an art gallery tonight with a guy from my condo complex ... long story how that came about ... anyway, that should be fun! I appreciate that he is into stuff that I like ... cultural things! It is right at dinner time so no idea what will happen for that ...

sueg if you have an opportunity, please post a few pics of Oktoberfest. I always envision it as quite the event! I will definitely take photos, so hopefully I'll remember to post some. It is quite an amazing event. It is held on an open space (Theresienwiese) on the edge of the city, which is 420,000 square metres (4,500,000 sq ft) in area. As well as 17 large (up to 6,000 capacity) tents and 21 smaller tents, including a couple of wine tents, there are carnival rides and an area called 'Oide Wiesn' which has rides from the 1950s and 60s, a small museum of the Fest and 3 or 4 tents that are more old style. Tomorrow morning there will be a Parade of the Brewmasters, that starts in the city and heads to the grounds, arriving just before midday. At midday, the Major of Munich taps the first keg and calls out 'O'Zapft ist' (it's tapped), which is the signal for all tents that they can start serving beer! Sunday is the traditional Trachtn parage, where various social and community clubs from all over Bavarian parade in their traditional dress - it is amazing how many different styles of Dirndls and lederhosen there are.

Happy Friday! Will just agree with everyone that it has been a LONG week and I am officially brain dead I think. Today I am staying at home the entire day, not even running a single errand! DH encouraged me to take the day for myself and DD spends Friday's with him anyway so I am trying to push aside those guilt feelings and enjoy my time. Stayed in bed until 8:30 and didn't get dressed until 11. That was only because my landscaper showed up. Perfect timing because he was on my list today and it is easier to walk the yard with him than tell him via text message. Having some summer stuff removed, a repair to the backyard sprinkler system (broken pipe) and removing 2 heads that are no longer needed. The rest of the day will be spent doing paperwork and filing that I have gotten way behind on, as well as some quilting and needlepoint time. Not having to get dressed up and get in the car today has me positively giddy! I have a steak thawing and plan to make steak diane for dinner along with a salad. Then I'll do more sewing tonight. I'm feeling peppy today. That's why I come down here. What? It's not to see me??? So glad that your doctor is working his magic and you are feeling better. Jeremy is more convinced than ever that the move to Ludington must happen so no matter what happens with Chloe, he's going to push. He wants this pretty bad. Listen to Jeremy. Personally I think a change to a place you love will do you both a world of good. You've had a rough few years with both personal life and career. It's time to seize the day and go for this change. And remember - nothing is forever. If it doesn't pan out you can always move back - or try another location. I also started a list of this past year's history of respiratory/sinus/ear stuff, prescriptions, labs, imaging, etc., to bring with me to that appointment, because I'm a crazy person. Not crazy at all. DH does this all time time. A doctor wants information or him to track something and he shows up with Excel spreadsheets! He's an engineer and can't help himself. Doctor is lucky to get a few notes penciled on scrap paper from me. I think it is wise to let a new doctor know what has been done so he doesn't repeat things that didn't work.

jeremysgirl - I was typing as you posted. My first post got too long! Oops! There is good news about DH. They delivered a VitalGo bed on Wednesday evening and he started doing standing exercises yesterday! They strap him into the bed and then he is rotated upwards so that he is weight bearing. The idea is that this will build his leg, core and neck muscles more quickly which will allow him to move to using a walker much sooner. When they stood him up yesterday it was the first time since July 7. He looked like a kid on Christmas morning, he was so excited to be upright and doing exercises. He was surprised at how much strength he has been able to build up in the bed already and now feels so much more hopeful. He's been rather down this past week. DD is there today and has sent me videos and pictures of him working upright in the bed and his expressions are such an improvement. They have also been weening him from the vent this week. When I left yesterday afternoon, he had been on oxygen only for 40 hours straight. If he continues with no problems I expect the vent to be removed from his room by the first of next week. Next to go will be the trach collar. They are talking about rehab next but not expecting any decisions on where and when until next week sometime. We feel like we can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. We are ending Week #12 in the hospital and will be happy to move on from this. A huge thank you to everyone out there for their support and prayers throughout this journey. Even when I have disappeared for days, I have been reading and appreciate all the messages. Thank you!

Reading your posts about DH brings back memories of when I was hospitalized for 3 months after my botched hysterectomy 5 years ago. It's amazing how quickly you can lose strength being bed bound. I didn't start moving much until I went to rehab and then they worked me pretty good. One funny memory was on my birthday in rehab. I was very tired having walked a lot that day and my sister came in the evening and said let's go for a walk. I was like, no, i'm tired and she kept persisting. I got kind of snippy with her but ended up walking around the corner and there was my family with an impromptu birthday party! I felt kind of bad for being snippy after that! I wish your husband a full recovery and know that he will gain his strength back in rehab. It's amazing what they can do!

**GypsyGirl** I am so glad to hear things are improving for your DH!! And thank you! I actually plotted out my high and low heart rates in Excel a few months ago for my cardiologist. I can't say definitively if it's why they gave me a three-day monitor, but it was good to have all of that info on more than just my phone.

Just got back from Kaiser. I timed it for when the doctors don't have appointments between 12-1 which is their lunch hour so very few people in the building. We walked right in, sat right down ~ sounds like a song! We got Pfizer for the first time so hopefully I won't feel awful tomorrow. This was our 7th vaccine and I'm sad that they keep it online instead of filling out our little cards. **GypsyGirl**, great update on your DH! Enjoy your day!

Hi tonight dinner I expect to be spaghetti and meat sauce for my dad with just meat sauce for me with side vegetables.
Dexter is going to the vet tomorrow. He has a sore ear and I medicated him today (my animal is not suffering in this household). He is being the baby and has started sleeping so close to me to know there is something wrong. Thankfully our vet works Saturday.
I hope things are all good for you. I have health drama which is kind of unpleasant but I have antibiotics for that and will be better by Sunday. Hugs!

We are home from the cottage. We had a great time but it’s nice to be home. Now I have laundry to do and pack for my cruise.
Walker was happy to see us after spending 5 days with my mom.
Super will be turkey on bagels and also some soup for DH. I don’t like soup ( or any hot liquids).

bc2ca ....I am ROFL over your DH's "colon cup" from yesterday! rymeswithpurple ....LOL over your DH teasing your kitty about Homecoming dance! austnscrapaddict ....Sorry for the loss of your uncle, but seeing all those family members at the same time will be nice. I've always been envious of people with cousins; we had 3 on Mom's side, but only met them once (sadly, my Mom wasn't close to her fam at all), and Dad was an only child. Several of my friends have A LOT of cousins, and it's so cool to me! leannec ....Hope your date is absolutely ART-tastic! **GypsyGirl** ....So glad you're taking a day to CHILL AT HOME!!! I'm sure you are just exhausted! I wish you could ditch the paperwork and just do crafty, fun things. I had the HUGEST smile reading about your DH standing and being so giddy!!!! And great news about weaning off of the vent !!!! Tearisci ....Awww....what a sweet/funny story about walking to your birthday surprize! . I love these stories-- part of my nursing career was in rehab, and seeing patients get better every day was so amazing! I still marvel at what good physical therapy (and sometime occupational therapy, and/or speech therapy) can improve lives so immensely!

jeremysgirl ....hmmm....never heard of peaches n cream cheesecake, and now I'm intrigued and want to make one. I realllllly hope you & Jeremy move near the water! Chloe can always visit/ you can go see her. I hope that doesn't keep you from moving. sueg ....Oktoberfest in your city sounds SO fun! Dh and I used to go to one every year that is highly rated in the U.S. (in New Braunfels, Texas). There were many musicians and others that came from Germany. DH and I LOVED the varied music in all the different tents, dancing, and omg....the food !!! I always wanted (and still want!) to see my cute DH (and Meaty! ) in Lederhosen, and I've always wanted to wear a drindl (along with Sophie! ). I could never find a company that made them in large bulldog sizes Curious if anyone here at the dinner table has been to Wurstfest in New Braunfels? If not, PLEASE go for DH and me and enjoy the cherry and apple strudel, sausages, reuben sandwiches, potato pancakes, etc. Oh yea....and the music! Also, be sure and do the chicken dance and sing along to "In Heaven, there is no beer....that's why....we drink it here! "
DH has been to Germany, and he loved it. He has always wanted to take me. Hopefully once I get better, we can finally go! We definitely need to go in October! It's so nice to hear lots of good news from everyone today. I am SO excited because my besties are taking me to lunch and shopping on Sunday. This is a BIG deal for me, since I wasn't able to go to restaurants/ friends' houses for the past few years. In the past, these friends and I scrapbooked almost every Friday night, sometimes till the wee hours, so I'd just sleep over. We laughed SOOO much, many times I wish we had supplemental oxygen tanks. We also used to take little road trips to see concerts, go to scrapbook weekends, etc. I have missed those fun times so much! The last few years, I've turned down many of their offers to visit me at home, because being in so much pain made me feel so awkward. I have NO IDEA what's for din-din tonight. Hope y'all have a great weekend.

Linda ......How have your kids and their friends been feeling after those 2 gun/ shooting threats? I feel so sorry for parents, students, and teachers who have to worry / be prepared for this every day. I think they are mainly angry - that the threats keep happening, that their school days keep getting disrupted, that they have to go through metal detectors and have their backpacks searched daily...and that there's that ever present fear that the next time...it'll be real.

I'm glad you are having a respite day, **GypsyGirl** , and can't believe you are at the end of week 12! It is wonderful to see the improvements your DH is making, but what a journey for your whole family. rymeswithpurple , I have several spreadsheets, lists and photo albums going to track my symptoms and recovery. Monday I saw my PCP for the first time since January, although I've talked to her a couple times, and she was most impressed and took copies of a couple things. I am not impressed with a specialist who wants to slow walk diagnosis/treatment given your chronic issues. Even if it doesn't develop romantically, how awesome to have a new friend in the building, leannec . Love that you have enough pep for bathing suit shopping, scrapmaven . Another morning of yoga and errands for me. I took a nice long soak when I got home and caught myself nodding off. Thankfully before I dipped a library book in the tub. DH & DD are heading to the DMV after work. It's been almost 10 months and she still doesn't have plates for the car she brought back from Canada. The local DMV can't see the file to find out what is going on and just keep issuing new temporary stickers as they come up to expiring. The car was properly imported at the border and all the required paperwork was submitted by the local DMV to Sacramento where it sits, waiting to finalize registration in CA. It will be a quick & easy sheet pan dinner here as I need to clean out a few stray vegetables along with Aidel's chicken sausages. ETA Thrilled to see you have a fun outing planned this weekend, scrappintoee!

I didn't post in the. morning as usual. they paved in front of my house today.. so I was out the door at 7:38 to give the dog a walk, back home at 8, stopped at fedex, my eye doctor to pick up contacts, at the post office the minute they opened, then to trader joes, and then off to exercise. then I stopped at another store and came home and found my missing water purifier, and then packed my clothes for the trip. this afternoon, back to fedex and another store.
I offered to take my girlfriend out to dinner.. she has parked our car in her driveway many times when we go on trips so I owe her a few dinners. so we are going to a french bistro in my neighborhood. totally grey and foggy out.
I love hearing of everyone else's days.. and seems there has been some good progress out there. sueg.. the most surprising thing to me when I visited the ancestral village in very sw germany was the lack of dirndls. their costume was more like the ones from alsace. (5 miles from the Rhine river).
so tomorrow morning I am getting up at 5-5:30 am packing the car and taking off for idaho. 13 hour drive with the dog. dh had better have something for me for dinner when I arrive. he is arriving today.
