How long did it take to receive your distribution after the divorce was final?
My divorce is not final for another week, but I’m trying to go through the refinance process to put the mortgage just in my name among other things. I am planning to cash out the QDRO distribution in order to pay off some things and to reduce the principle of the mortgage, after which I will recast the loan and reduce the payments. I hate not having any clue when I will revive the money though. We have seen a draft of the QDRO already, and had to make a revision. I elected to waive any claim to any employer payment that would have meant waiting until after March of 2025. I was just hoping to get any semblance of how long this could take so I can make some plans. This uncertainty is driving me nuts.

Not me, but I assisted my niece with her very complicated divorce where she had to file motion after motion for things her ex was not cooperating on. She had two, one was from a 401k and the other was stock options, both through her ex's work. It's been 10 years now, so I don't remember the exact times but it took forever. Seems like around a year. She was divorced Feb 2014 and when I did her taxes, there was not a payout for either of those, but I just looked at her 2015 taxes and the payouts were on that tax year. The stocks took much longer than the 401k.
So, it depends on what/where the money is coming from. I'm sure you weren't looking for it to be a long time because I'm sure you are wanting to get this all behind you and move on with your next chapter. Hopefully yours will hurry up!

Once our settlement agreement was okayed by the court (and prior to an official divorce) the QDRO was completed and funds distributed. Its didn’t take long. This was about 12 years ago.

Divorced in WI. It took five months to receive the QDRO paperwork. I also had to rehire my attorney so I could file contempt charges since exdh wasn’t following the marital settlement agreement (payment of half the homestead). The subpoena was enough to get him comply.
Best wishes!

I elected to take my QDRO as monthly payments. They started maybe six weeks later?

Once it was filed with Fidelity, it took mine about a month. Xh was supposed to submit it and didn't, so I just sent it instead
Eta: We hired a qdro only attorney and turnaround time for the paperwork was about a week and then we had to submit it to the court

My DH had to hire an attorney to enforce the QDRO order. Even then, his ex tried to fight it so it took almost 2 years until he started receiving payouts.

I used to process QDROs for the accounting firm I worked for 20 years… each company is different.. sometimes it was within six weeks and other times it was forever! You just never know. I think average was about four to six weeks.

Then he was pissed because the amount I got was court ordered at the times of the divorce but his account had gone lower since so my amount was then more than half.
