We have a tremendous geese population around here and when they start migrating the noise is deafening. Today they started their flyover at 6:30.

Oh, wow!! I can only imagine the volume. I've heard plenty of small "V"s go overhead, but never have I been really close to where a large group started off.

Sorry they woke you, too bad you didn’t need an alarm set for 6:30...it would have been a great one. 😆
They are loud, but such a rite of passage for winter and spring. I love to see the huge flocks fly by…and the stragglers. I am on vacation now at our camp in Northern Vermont and they are really active, although I think some of the flocks that we are seeing are just moving from the cornfields during the day to water night.
There have been a few flocks that have been flying so low that when watching, as we have been sitting on the porch, look like some are going to hit the trees. We always joke that the bad navigator is in charge during those times and make comments as to what the other geese might be saying.

Being on the Canada side we have geese all around every year - there is a pond just a few doors down behind our row of houses, and they congregate there regularly. Occasionally you will hear the thunk of one or a few of them on your roof - buggers.
They are loud and noisy and rude LOL

Wow - you just brought back such a vivid memory for me: I grew up in a beach community and we'd get those flyovers! They are really, really loud!!! (and poopy!)

Yeah, we’re a waterfront town and we have geese. They are mean, noisy, and messy. Also funny as all get out. Oh, we have wild turkeys, too (actually, a flock of domesticated turkeys that escaped and proliferated all over the East Bay, according to my brother), and they are even funnier than the geese.

Dh and I were debating this morning-
If a Canada Goose and a Blue Jay wanted to occupy the same spot, who wins? Both are assholes...

Here is a (bad as far as showing how low and close they were to the trees)) picture of a flock with a bad navigator. 😄. Sorry so big I will try to resize.

They are sometimes so very noisy. Why do they have to be so obnoxious about it? It's like they are a bunch of Mean Girl Plastics headed off to a big, big fabulous party and saying "You're not invited!"

I know that sound! They land on the pond behind my home. Even louder are the trumpeter swans, although they don't show up so early in the morning.

They fly directly over my house in both the spring and the fall. Usually quite high up, but sometimes they fly so low I think they just might hit the roof or one of our upstairs windows. So far that hasn’t ever happened and I hope it never does.

I found a goose floating around in my pool one afternoon. We had a large lake across the street and a small pond a couple blocks away, so I was surprised it didn’t choose to land in either of those. It was by itself and didn’t appear to be injured at all. I watched it for a few minutes just because it was so unusual to see in my yard, but then I thought, it might poop in my pool or drink the chlorine water and get sick so I opened the back door and it took off. I dumped extra chlorine in the pool as a precaution since my son and I were regularly using the pool. I love watching them fly in those huge V formations and I always wondered how the lead goose was determined.

We have a lake in north Denver that has thousands of geese during certain times of the year. It is so cool to see them lift off and honk. At my house, we just have about 2 dozen rogue turkeys that run through every morning starting around 6 am. They sound like little sqeaky dolphins and wooden furniture legs being dragged across the floor.
As a kid, I was charged by geese for years. I used to think they were dangerous. Now that I am bigger, they leave me alone.

We see a lot of geese too, during migration. We live close to the river, and they love our grain fields for a fuel up!
I am usually up and going by 5:30 this time of year, so I don't really notice them that much. I just fear a poop-drop when a big bunch goes over me when I am outside! LOL
