Do you prefer word or number puzzles?
I’ve always preferred numbers. I’ve never liked scrabble, word searches, crossword puzzles, etc. I will pick a number puzzle over a word puzzle most of the time. I’ve always done better in math classes over English classes. But, I do love to read. And one time, a college professor said I should consider English as a major. I am almost burst out laughing. I have started to do crossword puzzles, easy ones, only because I feel like I “need” to in order to stay sharp.

I like both equally. I think I’d rather create a word puzzle over a number puzzle. But I love them numbers ☺️

I prefer word puzzles, but NOT crossword puzzles. To me those are more trivia in many cases. I also dislike the ones where they give you the word CASTLE and you're supposed to change it to KNIGHT in 5 steps. It always seems impossible to me. But I like all sorts of other word puzzles--word searches, word scrambles, cryptograms, fill-in style crossword grids, etc. On the flip side, I do like a nice sudoku on occasion. I love logic puzzles, too, but again, I prefer the tell me a story and 5 facts, and I deduce whatever you want me to deduce style as opposed to a figure that has to be manipulated. I often say that part of the reason I love genealogy is because to me, it's part history and part logic puzzle. For me, no vacation is complete if I don't have a Dell Variety Puzzle book packed in my bags.

I like both but I do more word puzzles. They seem to be easier to come by. Also the number ones tend to have a pattern and once you figure that out, they get boring.

I love logic problems the most then words then numbers, which is odd because I love numbers in every day life. I can not bear sudoku to the extent I glaze over on seeing the grid.

Numbers are my nemesis so I prefer word puzzles.
I can't read numbers properly (threes and fives are the worst) so doing a number puzzle is not fun for me.

I got into NYTimes Sudoku last year because it was a challenge for me - I had no idea how people solved them and I set about learning the strategies. Now I love them as much as the word puzzles. I can often do the hardest ones using logic, which gives my brain a good workout.

I picked word puzzles but in reality I like picture (jigsaw) puzzles the best! Especially the ones with words on them because those parts are the easiest to complete first.

I can often do the hardest ones using logic, which gives my brain a good workout. I think that is why I like number puzzles. You do need to use logic, and I like logic puzzles too. I am playing Number Sums on my phone. The numbers in the row and columns have to add up to certain numbers. There is logic involved, and up to a certain point, you can eliminate numbers just by applying that logic, without even doing any math.

Every morning while the coffee brews I do Wordle, Connections, the crossword mini, and Strands on NYT, and I also do Waffle, which isn’t NYT. If I have time I also do the regular NYT crossword, but I don’t always have time.
So word puzzles, definitely!

Word puzzles definitely, but I always enjoyed doing logic problems too, but those are essentially word problems.

I love Sudoku and work them in spare time. But I do also love Wordle. I don't like Crossword puzzles, or the kind of Sudoku that you have to math. LOL! I like logic type puzzles, but not enough to actually buy them.

I can't really say I prefer one over the other, but I sort of have a mental system. Every morning I play Wordle, Connections, and Strands. All word games. At night before bed I play Wordscapes (word) of the day, and then regular solitaire (numbers) until I'm ready to put my phone down. During downtime during the day I play either Solitaire Grand Harvest or Match Factory (image matching). I'm a bit all over the place.

I alternate between sudoku and Word Find; various Solitaire card games and Phrazzle. Sometimes I throw in Blockdoku or Mahjong if I want to throw in some shape matching.

Another daily word puzzler here - me morning routine is: Wordle, Waffle, Susie, Phrazle, Connections, Quordle (The Susie word game is my favourite because I can approach it as a total logic AND word puzzle).
And then I do three GEOGRAPHY puzzles which I also really enjoy… Worldle, Globle, and Tradle.

Always word puzzles. I don’t think that I have ever done a number puzzle. I suspect that it would irritate me.
ETA: I tried Waffle, but I don’t understand it, and the directions were poor. My problem is that I have no patience.

I like both but I do more word puzzles. They seem to be easier to come by. That's what I was going to say! I do both, but I definitely have more word games on my phone.

I avoid numbers in any form at all costs. My brain just doesn't "hold" them the same way it does words. Addresses, phone numbers, passcodes -- anything that is more than 3 numbers in a row is lost to me forever. I know my Social Security number and my own address and phone number and that's it!
I'm a terrific crossword puzzler. Word searches are fine but not my first choice.
