naby64 sending prayers for a good outcome for your husband. scrappert I cringed reading your description of your fall and aftermath. I hope you can adapt to your change in vision. jeremysgirl Good luck with your interview! 🤞🤞 I haven’t posted in a bit as I am now taking care of my DGD (4 months) during the day so DD could return to work. Norah is delightful and caring for her is a joy but doing this at 66 is more tiring than when I was raising my own kiddos. Needless to say I’m not accomplishing as much around the house and go to bed a bit earlier than usual. Dinner is going to be some potato soup I froze earlier in the year.

naby64, I'm sending the best thoughts for your husband. May all be well. scrappert, I'm so very sorry that you've been through such a terrible ordeal. Are you working w/a medical social worker in order to get support and find an occupational therapist who can teach you techniquesfor everyday living and driving? You can live a full life, but you need to learn how to adapt. ((((HUGS)))) You have a tribe to hold your hands.

Just got back from Crazy Rummy and the grocery store.
The big news during CR was that the high school, middle school and elementary schools (they are all bunched together) were on lockdown because of a mountain lion. I was oblivious since I don't have kids/grandkids in the schools.

scrappert nooooo, I'm so sorry that happened to you! It sounds so horrendous. Big healing hugs to you. xx I'm sending good thoughts to you and your husband naby64. When you say "I have handbells tonight", what does that mean? jeremysgirl wishing you the best of luck at your job interview - I will have everything crossed for you! We had dinner at MIL's house. She made a delicious chilli and lime roast chicken, a pork fillet, scalloped potatoes, and loads of roasted vegetables. Dessert was sticky date pudding and poffertjes.

Did the bite heal oksy? naby64......Sorry you're going through something with your H---I'm sending many (( hugs )) and positive thoughts! jeremysgirl....Yeaa on the interview !!! It's time for your ESCAPE!!! Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes! OMG, what a BLAST we had !!!!!!!! I haven't laughed that hard in wayyy too long! They were concerned that I was in pain, but I kept reassuring them I was fine. (wellll....until I got home, but....WHO CARES! ) These friends are like family, we know eachother SO well, and it was SO FUN to reminisce with all our "inside jokes" and we also use lots of silly words and nicnames. (which my family also does).

scrappert I’m so sorry. That fall sounds horrible. I lost vision in my right eye 14 years ago due to a traumatic injury. Adjusting to monocular vision was very difficult. I still struggle after all these years. If you want to talk with someone who has been there feel free to reach out.

scrappintoee I'm still limping along. The bruises are the worst but they do look better then what they did. My greatest fear has always been to fall. I have weak knees and still have not fully recovered from my knee surgery so I have trouble getting up myself. Luckily someone was close by to help me up. Thanks for asking.

AussieMeg.....in case Naby64 doesn't see your question, I think she means she plays bells (hand bells) with a choir at her church.

scrappert I am so sorry to hear about all you’ve been going through. I can’t even imagine. Praying for a miracle for your eye. @naby prayers for your husband. I hope everything is alright. jeremysgirl here’s hoping that this interview will be the last. You have had to endure so much BS from your current department. Today is the first day I have any appetite. Kait has been cooking up a storm and I just couldn’t eat more than a bite of two. She said that I need to eat some protein. We are ordering some take away tonight. Tomorrow the dressings all come off and I get to see what I’m dealing with. Hopefully I don’t loook like Frankenstein!!!

Oh, I'm sorry that you haven't fully healed from your knee surgery I've had so. many. problems. with one of my two hips that were replaced. I also totally relate to your fear of falling! I recently "graduated" from a walker to a cane, which makes me SO happy. BUT---yesterday, it rained, and my cane slipped---thank goodness I did NOT fall. Fell and broke my humerus (in 4 places) 5 years ago, then 2 more times and broke ribs. I have worked hard in physical therapy to NOT worry so much about falling again, but it's hard, isn't it? Ohhhh, I feel so OLD talking about this stuff, yet, I still feel 25-years-old mentally. My friend and I were reminiscing about the PRETTY heels we used to wear, and DANCING the night away (not to mention the many cocktails! ) Ohhh, to not worry about falling when wearing sexy shoes!

Tomorrow the dressings all come off and I get to see what I’m dealing with. Hopefully I don’t loook like Frankenstein!!! If it is any consolation ... I had an "open" procedure for my gastric bypass way back in 2006 which meant a long vertical incision down the middle of my tummy ... those were they days when laproscopic surgeries were not yet the norm ... my scar was not pretty for many many years ... now it is hardly visible! The thing is, no one cared! Not my family - definitely not my husband ... and that made me comfortable with it! Don't worry about your scar(s)!

Someone here needs to win the lottery, and pay for everyones' planefare, hotels, restaurants, sight-seeing, etc.!

Another thing about this fantasy gathering is that we have sooo many dinner peAps in California (although I realize they're probably very spread out). But we could all fly somewhere central-ish in California, OR... *ETA: forgot to say, I've been to several California cities and LOVED them all !!! I've told DH many times I'd love to live there! I also have a dream of driving the entire Pacific Coast Highway! OR.....what if we all flew to Australia and that way we can hang out with AussieMeg **AND** see her beautiful country, **AND** I will love hearing all the fun Australian accents! Okay, now I need to go buy about 1,000 lottery tickets!

well.. I'm right in mid CA.. SF.. and will travel.. when I am home.
naby64.. I go to a very tiny church of older persons.. we have at least three octaves of bells just sitting in an room.. and they have for 20 yrs. 40 yrs ago we had a huge music program.. now our choir is 5-6 people.. and I'm the only one who can sing anything highish.. though I am really an alto.
I tried to get some energy to get permission to sell the bells 10 yrs ago.. no one would budge. glad to hear of people still doing it. we also have a big bell program in local middle school

naby64 - prayers for all to go well for your DH scrappert - oh no! That sounds just awful. I hope your facial surgeries go well and you continue to heal. I agree with scrapmaven on finding resources and therapies to help with the changes you are facing.
