I live in Minneapolis. Went over to the Nordic Ware outlet to look around & speak with them about a part time job. When I walked in the store there was a bit of commotion. Decided to walk around and look things over & then talk with them about the job. Overheard a worker say something like "Ok. You will sign..." When I heard that I looked at the woman they were speaking to. I didn't recognize her so I decided to ask her if she is an author. When she said yes, I then asked if she was a cookbook author. Another yes. The name of her new book is "Bundt". It was Melanie Johnson.
I don't know of her but evidently, she is popular in England where she is from. She also writes a column for a magazine called Country Life. The magazine comes out weekly. Of course I had to buy her cookbook. She autographed it to my 7 year old granddaughter who loves to cook. Nordic Ware took our picture together with each of us holding one of her cookbooks. After all that was over, I spoke with the manager about the job. This job has my name all over it. She even told me that I am the kind of person they are looking for. I am a home economist. Problem is the pay. Take a guess at what the pay is. It is awful. As some of you know, I also sell on ebay. Not worth my time to drive over there with what they are paying. But I had a fun time.

Glad you had a fun day!! Bummer the pay isn’t worth the drive.

It's retail, so minimum wage. Such a shame, because if they paid well then they'd have really knowledgable employees like you.

If you get a nice employee discount maybe it would be worth it to work just the busy holiday season?
Meeting the author today and getting the signed book might be indicative of some of the possibilities with a temporary job there.

Ah it could be in alignment ☺️ Tv just said “you make the deal yourself”
I was just reading a book of mine on Saturday night titled: The Joy of Writing a Great Cookbook - Kimberly Yorio
I don’t cook at all, I was reading (and writing in) the book for another reason.

I love all of my Nordic Ware pieces. I used to drive by their location on my way to visit my sister. It would be an enjoyable place to work. I’m going to guess that they were less than $15 an hour.
I am waiting for Zoe Francois’s new cookie cookbook to arrive. It should be here on Thursday. I highly recommend her show “Zoe Bakes” on Max. It’s filmed in her beautiful home in Minneapolis. She is such a great personality and so stylish.

They said it would be $15 per hour. That's ridiculous. I know it's a part time retail job. But it's 15 miles round trip. And then taxes taken out. I sell on Ebay and it's just not worth my time. I can sell a crappy tee shirt from home for $15. It's a shame because I would absolutely love this job. And they would love having me. I just know it. Oh well . . . their loss!

Sometimes things are worth more than the payment. If you would absolutely love this, couldn't you still sell on ebay too? I don't think 15 miles sounds all that unreasonable and 15.00 an hour could lead to a management position at some point...

I live in northern MN and $15 an hour is pretty typical for a retail job. A 15 mile commute is quick up here because of little traffic, but 15 miles probably takes considerably longer there. My husband turned down a part-time job that was offering $21 an hour - lots of training was involved and it was more hours than he wanted to work. He can work less, control his schedule, and make more as a substitute teacher.

Oh I am not interested in a management position. I wS a middle school teacher for 30 years. I’m done working for other people. I would be doing this because I love to bake.
