I have never voted early because I like walking up to my polling place.
However... my neighborhood listserve has had a discussion about this for the past couple of weeks, and I am convinced to vote early. The consequences are too dire this time around and as several have mentioned in this thread you never know what might happen to keep you from voting on election day.

I just got my voting book in the mail. It always takes me time to dive into it and read about the issues. It also clears up some of the tricky writing on the ballot .
