In MN we could start voting on Friday. There are many locations where you can vote early in person. I live in a rural area and would have to drive about 60 minutes round trip to vote at our county court house. Anyone can request a mail in ballot and ours arrived today. We filled them out tonight and will mail them out tomorrow. In a few days I will go online to check that it was received and will be counted.
I know a lot of people like to vote on Election Day, but I’ve had a couple experiences that have made me want to do it early. When my mom had a major medical event it took me out of town for several days. There is no way I would have been able to return to my town to vote had the election taken place during that time. I also think about the day my daughter had an appendectomy. What started as a normal day took a turn around 8 am. Had it been Election Day, there is no way I would have been able to vote. I spent the entire day at the local hospital. You can’t assume that every thing will go as planned that day.
It felt really good to fill in the oval next to Harris/Walz. I encourage you to vote early if your state allows it.

I have voted early some years and voted on election day other years. This year? I will be voting early because my youngest turns 18 in a week but election day is both a school day AND an academic team away match after school so SHE won't be able to get to the polls. And if we're taking her to vote early, we'll vote early also.
Our early voting starts in mid-October. DD24 lives in Virginia and she voted today since she's coming to visit us (arrives Monday) and we're not sure if she's going to be back home for election day or not.

Early voting starts here on October 17. The signs are already out at the voting locations.
We typically vote early now. They changed our polling place. When it was in the old location, we could walk over and typically did, voting on election day.

I turn in my ballot about a week before Election Day. We haven’t received our ballots yet. They won’t be mailed out until the week of Oct 8th. Early voting then starts in our county. In California, each county sets their own early voting dates. I usually drop mine off at a local voting place or at the library.

I always like voting on Election Day. However, for the same reasons you have given (anything can happen), I think I will vote in person early this year. DD will be able to vote for the first time in a Presidential election and I want to go with her. She will have to come home from school and it would be almost impossible for her to come home on Election Day.

Early voting is relatively new in my state. We voted to enshrine it and several other election protection items in our state constitution at the same time we voted to do the same for women's health. We also have no-excuse absentee voting, so in my family, we do that. I take them to the dropbox at the clerk's office as Im not going to let Louis DeJoy interfere with my vote being counted

October 7 is when ballots go out to CA residents. We get text messages when they have been sent out and when they are in our mailbox.
We can turn in to verified city/county mailboxes around town or hand in on election day. We can also hand it over and ask for a ballot to turn in at a polling place.
If we turn in, it is scanned when collected and we get a text, then another when it arrives at the county ballot counting place, then again when it has been counted and recorded.
We turn ours in towards mid to late October. I need time to read up on any new props as well as judges and other elected officials (other than city council and school board).
I do miss going to the polling place but it's nice to be able to vote by mail.

I will vote on the first day possible which is 10/21. I have the day off for voting on the actual day but I plan on voting as soon as I can.

Utah has done mail-in voting for years… I’ve actually never voted in person.
But sometimes I don’t drop my ballot off until Election Day. 😂

I vote early in every election except the Presidential election. I love feeling like I am *involved* and actually making a difference, even though I know my vote wont really matter in my state.

Typically, yes. We don't have a local polling place since I live in a rural area so I've been voting absentee since 2004. Some years I vote early and other years it takes me until election day to make up my mind.

I always voted in person in Canada, usually on my way to work. But I was only picking one thing: either an MP (Member of Parliament equivalent to a Representative in the US) OR an MLA (Member of Legislative Assembly equivalent to State Assemblymember in US) depending if it was a federal or provincial election. They were never held at the same time. Separate municipal elections had a few more things on the ballot (mayor, councillors, park & school board trustees).
In the US, we ALWAYS make filling out our mail-in ballots a family event, picking a date sometime before the election to sit down with our phones, laptops and ballots. I take all our completed ballots to the library the next day.
Our ballots can be four pages long and might include: President, Representative, Senator, State Assembly, State Senate, Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, Commissioner of Insurance, Controller, Secretary of State, Public Utilities Commission, Auditor, Board of Equalization, Superintendent of Public Instruction, Mayor, City Council, City Clerk, City Treasurer, School Board, healthcare district board, County Board of Supervisors, treasurer-tax collector, sheriff, irrigation district, community college district, superior court judges and Propositions (10 on the ballot this year).
Some of the above are partisan positions and some are nonpartisan. We try to be as educated as possible of who we are voting for in each position.
TLDR Yes, we vote early.

WA is 100% mail in voting. We usually mail ours in a few days after receiving it. Your ballot is tracked and you get confirmation when it's received (if you want). There are also ballot boxes scattered around (we've dropped ours off at City Hall before).

I vote early as I am a poll worker and they can have me work wherever I am needed. Sometimes it isn’t at my voting precinct.

I have never voted early, but plan on doing so this year. I need to get it over with. My anxiety level over this election is driving me nuts!

I do not want to deal with all the crazy Republicans as I enter the polling place. We also have a Board of Ed race that is just sickening here, so I am afraid if I walk by that horrible woman, I might get arrested, LOL.

Yes, I will vote early. It doesn't start here until mid October, so I will vote the last week of October once I return from a trip I will be on early in the month.

I voted early in 2020 because I was afraid of catching covid or getting sick and not being able to vote the day of. I had non covid related pneumonia Sept 2020 that had me in the hospital for a few days, so it left me a little nervous. This year I will vote on the day, my voting site is two blocks from my house.

We usually vote early because we can go on any random day and skip the lines on Election Day. Thankfully our early voting place is at the courthouse which is only about a 15 minute drive away.

I really want to vote on election day as i usually do because I vote in Niota TN and that's where Harry T Burn lived, and I find it meaningful.
However I'm considering voting early this time, my medical is currently stable but really you never know. and I really want to be certain and get my vote in.

I always vote early. Many years ago, I got sick on the day of the California governor election. This was back in the Arnold Schwarzenegger era. I had a fever and was too sick to vote. It's the only time I missed an election. Ever since then, I always vote early.

I used to go to the polling place and vote on Election Day but when we went from the punch card ballots (not the hanging chad poke out hole ballots) to electronic machines, I switched permanently to absentee mail in ballots. Honestly that had to have been almost 20 years ago. I just never trusted the machines were secure and knew my vote was so important to me, that I made the change.

Our state is easy peasy. Everyone gets a ballot mailed and you can either mail it in or go to the polls. I have never been to the polls ever. Always drop it off.. I do it early but not this early.. about a week or two. We won't get our ballots for awhile.
We did just get a big inch thick booklet though on all the stuff to vote on. And I am not kidding .. it's HUGE.
